The 5.5 Ipod is the best sounding Ipod thanks to the Wolfson DAC. After that apple started using the Cirrus DAC which a lot of Audiophiles don't like. I have 5.5 iPod and it sounds amazing I dare to say that it even rivals today's iPhones. I think that's why people still buy them, specifically the 5.5 gen. You really have to look around to find one in decent condition at a fair price unlike the 6th and 7th gen iPod classic which you can find them anywhere. If you happen to find one in decent condition and at a fair price buy it. I have a Bose sound system and it sounds incredible better than the iphone which nowadays only plays music over Bluetooth and let's be honest who carries a 3.5 headphone jack dongle with them at all times plus we all know that music over Bluetooth sucks. Cheers! Great video btw! 👍

The iPod 5 and 5.5 use the same Wolfson WM8758BG DAC

Just want to say I enjoyed the video, keep it up - doing my duty & sharing legitimate verified information on the subject.
Not all U2 Special Edition iPod Videos are the Enhanced 5.5 refresh, not all U2 Special Editions have the search feature.
    The U2 Special Edition was sold as a standard iPod Video / 5th Generation / 820-1763-A / MA452LL and as the iPod Video Enhanced / 5.5 / 820-1975-A / MA664LL.
Quick tip for identifying genuine U2 Special Editions: genuine Apple U2 backplates are silver / polished stainless steel on the inside of the backplate. Replicas are not.
No claim was ever made by Apple that audio Fidelity was improved between the Video & its refresh.
The audio IC on the 820-1763-A & 820-1975-A are exactly the same. Both 5th and 5.5 have the exact same Wolfson IC - the WM8758BG.
Fidelity between the 820-1763-A & 820-1975-A is indistinguishable & if you don’t believe me - look at the two boards under a microscope.
Hope you found this helpful, I thoroughly enjoyed the video. Liked and subscribed ❤️

Hey! thanks for the valuable info!
Also I knew the backplate thing..but sadly they have a backplate replica like that too now..I saw a few on eBay recently with the polished silver...freaking annoying
So wait, the first U2 iPod Video released in June is not "enhanced" like the one released in September?..usually online, its discussed in many forums saying that the June U2 and the September one are both enhanced and they have absolutely no differences
I haven't gone into depth with board repair on these so I really haven't seen their boards..I am also hesitant of opening my U2 5th gen cause its one of the nicer ones out there and I got it for dirt cheap..I am more for a phone repair guy and iv only repaired Nano's and Touch's before..my classics usually sit around in a box
But I must ask, then why is there an argument that the two are indeed different? ...iv seen people go at it in comment sections saying the "enhanced" ones sound different..now, the differences I noticed maybe due to the age of different devices and the condition of their headphone jacks and boards in general..age has had a toll on them.
