You’ve got it right, John is not only the GOAT, he’s one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He can sing anything. The more you see him sing the more you’ll be blown away. Check out Long Way to the top with the MSO (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra). Farnsey and Barnsey are Aussie legends. Jimmy and his talented family kept churning out music during Covid, keeping us all positive. Diesel is Jimmy’s brother-in-law and also a great talent, a fantastic guitarist and singer in his own right. Great reaction, thanks.

@@OutOnThatLine some more to consider, his cover of Led Zeppelin - Black Dog (he uses it as a sound check in his concerts), Burn For You, That's Freedom, One (1969), Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head (1970) all don't seem to get as much recognition as they deserve. You always have to watch his live performances over music video's as he brings it every time.
Back in the 60s/early 70s it was rare for artists to have world tours due to the cost. So it was common for local artists to perform international hits. He also has a cover of Toto - Hold the Line.

I love it when anyone uses their song to try to out sing John in any genre. Not going to happen and I do love this song. John is that sweet guy that feels like everyone’s brother or son. I have seen him late for a plane but stop to talk to someone who spoke to him. He has never been anyone but who you see and the people he loves mean just as much to us. Maybe you never saw or heard of John because no one in Australia or America would sign John. His best friend and manager, Glenn got his new album out there with everything he owned mortgaged and we demanded the radio stations played it. Glenn changed Australian radio and music.
We heard last night that John’s mouth surgery for cancer that took 12 hours to get out and rebuild his jaw is going so well he has been sent to a Rehab Hospital. You are loved John Farnham.

Anyway, would have loved to hear John rip out ‘Danger Zone’, I reckon he’d do it justice, after all, he sang ‘Break the Ice’ on the soundtrack to RAD and honestly it doesn’t get much more quintessential 80s than that.

Cold Chisel, the band Jimmy was in, did not have a good experience with the music industry when they went to the USA. They wrote a song, 'You've Got Nothing I Want' about that. John Farnham did tour overseas but he missed his wife and family too much, so decided to just stay in Oz. He co-wrote the song, 'Burn For You' about that experience. John is the 'good' guy of the two. He's humble, appreciative, reliable, helps charities and is a lovely, and loved man. Jimmy was the 'bad' boy due to alcohol and other drug-taking and therefore played up and was unreliable. His children did an intervention on him and his wife and that shook them up enough to turn their lives around to a better outcome. There is one song video where Farnsey starts off singing on stage and he's looking around hoping that Barnsey will come out on stage when he is supposed to. The third musician in this trio is Diesel who has his own band with great music. He is partnered to the sister of Jimmy's wife. Australia has loads of fantastic talent for you to be introduced to. Regarding your comment about not hearing Oz music, I think that the USA did not take Australia's music seriously. One example is a song by the incredible Vanessa Amorosi singing, (live on YT video) 'Have A Look'. It is a sensational song and performance by her, yet only got to No. 76 on the top one hundred playlist in the USA. It's great that you want to 'keep it real' for we viewers. Thankyou.

John definitely IS the nicest dude ever. Barnsey is a whole other rabbit hole. He used to be in a band called Cold Chisel in the 70s and had a huge solo career. Chisel tried to break into the US but they were treated like crap. Jimmy wrote "You got nothing I want" as a result which was a huge hit. His "Soul Deep" album as a solo artist is superb. They sing a few other things together. Farnsy has also sung with Queen, Ton Jones, Celine Dion. Ray Charles just to name a few. If you want some comedy, there's "Granada" with Anthony Warlow, "Angels" with Lisa Edwards. His cover of "Long Way to the Top" (ACDC) with the MSO is pure party. Cant wait to see you react to his sound check recording of "Black Dog". Diesel is Jimmy's brother-n-law and a great singer and guitarist in his own right. Keep 'em coming! Get well Farnsy! 💕

Also, Delta, one of THE great videos, "Believe Again". Baby Animals , "Backbone", live 1993, also "Early Warning" and "One Word". Vanessa Amarosi and Dave Stewart "Natural Woman" soul. How about something completely different? An early filmed drug soaked jam that was probably the world's first heavy music, around 1968(?). Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, "Mama live on GTK". The world's best guitar player, Tommy Emmanuel, "Classical Gas" and "Initiation". Giving you an even broader spread, Tash Sultana, "Jungle, bedroom concert" She has a huge world wide niche audience of music lovers. A genius. Pure genius. Plays 20 instruments, her "Blackbird 7 layer sessions" on 12 string is beyond music. Also current, Teskey Brothers, "Hold Me live at the Forum", that is a concert with a difference, a twist. New here, Aussie. These are typical for Australian artists, their bred differently here. Most never wanted international fame, much less live that US or UK celebrity lifestyle. These are committed family men & Australian music royalty. The comradery within our entire music industry has always been deep. Most artists have true & genuine lifelong friendships with one another.
Elton John actually flew over back in the 80's & hosted our first music awards (which wasn't even televised back then) it literally was like a private, unscripted event where the entire Aus. music industry gathered for one big family style night. Elton knew how big the music scene is here & how different it was. Had been a fan of Aussie artists & despite not being international he knew every artist, their music etc from day dot. Elton didn't even come with his diva persona either, for him the biggest stars in his eyes that night was all our very best we had there. You can actually stream it on here now. Fascinating to watch.
John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes & Jimmy Barnes incredibly successful band "Cold Chisel" (inc 1 other incredible artist called Ian Moss) were the no.1 & no.2 bestselling musicians of all time here. John Farnham holds the bestselling album of all time (which will likely never be beat) from 1986 which went I think, 17 times platinum. And, during those music awards I was talking about he took out every award possible. It basically looked like an award show just for him in the end lol. They've all had 50yr careers, so all the rabbit holes are quite deep now. You've only just touched the surface. Barnsey's voice did detoriate somewhat from heavy drinking etc but he still damn well rocks it even now.
John Farnham is universally known as "The Voice" & he is an absolute GOAT up there with Celine Dion etc. Celine is JF's biggest fan. Literally fan-girled over him after someone arrange for her to meet him here. He has performed with the likes of Ray Charles, Tom Jones etc. John or Farnsey as we call him literally can sing anything perfectly every single note, getting more out of even pronunciation of words whilst he sings them than anyone else. Every note. Every genre. Any key. ANYTHING. You'll never find a bad performance of him anywhere, it doesn't exist. He can sing AC/DC, ballads, rock. opera, pop, blues, anything.
You've hit the nail on the head with John Farnham. He is the nicest, funniest & humble bloke you'll ever meet. Always happy, always smiling, cracking jokes. His charisma & star power is indescribable. How he is on stage every single moment is just a sight to see. What he does to the crowd, the sheer emotion & connection he has to everyone in the audience & every song is written all over his face. He somehow manages to smile through even the hardest of notes, effortlessly. He has lifelong friendships with everyone, whether it be another musician, a band member, a fan, media, tv shows, everything & everyone.
He also has been married to his wife since 1973. Never had a chip on his shoulder nor lived that "rock n roll' life. How he is on camera, on stage is exactly how he is with any stranger he comes across. No one has a bad word to say about him. He had the same band members, back-up singers throughout his entire career. The best of the best he calls them, in which he highlighted them every single moment he could. He respects them as artists as much as they respect them.
John had a very successful early career when he was quite young but then had a few tough & trying years thereafter. Struggled with even funds thereafter. He however had the comebacks of all comebacks, where his manager literally re-mortgaged his house to back it. That turned out to be that highest selling & most successful album Australia has ever had, to this day even.
Lots to checkout with John. He also starred in the most successful musical here of all time, "Jesus Christ Superstar". His rendition of Jesus is MIND BLOWING. It also includes some other incredible artists in their own right here. Again, the genuine comradery & chemistry between them all made the show all it became & more. I really recommend doing a reaction on a part of that show other reactors have done. Though it's 20mins. All of which you'll probs be mesmerized every. single. second. with goosebumps. So, well worth it. None of the artists expected the show to ever blow up as much as it did. They were all taken aback by how successful it became. It's a true tribute to really what the Australian Music Industry really is, even to this day.
Going back to the song you reacted to here, it also includes Johnny Diesel or Diesel as he is known. He is a successful male artist in his own right (who unfortunately prefers to stay out of the limelight & arena type performances) so you'll never find much available on him. But, aside from John Farnham he is my 2nd all-time favourite musician to see live. Much like Farnsey he is like a fine red wine & only gets better with time. To this day he prefers to tour pubs nationally. Which is incredible for his fans, the best pub gig you'll ever get to see. And every tour he manages to change things up even better. Also, he is one of Australia's best guitarists, so he often is in the background of major events, concerts etc just doing what he does best on his guitar.
Funnily enough he ended up marrying into Jimmy Barnes big, huge extended family. He is now his brother-in-law. Hence, they team up often. Over Covid Barnsey created an incredibly popular online presence from live performances from his home. All of his extended family, whom are all highly musical.
Unfortunately, neither John nor Diesel ever had a strong online presence, no social media accounts etc. What's available on here of their entire careers is very limited. Often not the best quality & sound either. So, reactors really can't see the best of the best of them to really do them justice.
John's just been diagnosed with mouth cancer (he is 73) & had major surgery on his jaw which likely means he will never be able to sing again. Unfortunately, he was a heavy smoker for most of his life. How he ever managed to breath & sing the way he did we will never know. But his musical legacy will live on forever. There will never be another him. His type of voice & musical ability/range we will never ever see again.
He also holds many of his songs which to this day have become anthems here. His most successful song was "You're the Voice" & over the decades it's just taken on a life of its own & John's performance of it just got better & better. How the crowd reacts to it (young & old) to this day is incredible. It's known as "Australia's unofficial national anthem" every Australian belts out every single word. Our actual national anthem most don't even know in its entirety. Hence the performances of it need a new reaction to on these channels, every decade it was performed.
Many worldwide superstars come here & all want to sing that song in their tours. We had a charity concert called "Sound Relief" watched by all & Coldplay was on. They started singing it & John Farnham comes out unexpectedly to anyone & starts belting it out like only he could do (in his 60's by then mind you) & the crowd just went WILD.
To this day one of my favorite performances ever & I've watched it 100's of times. Each time still gives me goosebumps. You must find that & react to that performance too. Just doing a reaction to "You're the Voice" in the 80's that one time doesn't do John or the song enough justice. There is also a massive live performance he did in Germany floating around on here. The only time he really did an international performance. One of the biggest live crowds one could have. All artists usually mimed back then but like he always did he insisted on singing live or he just wouldn't do it. And boy did he kill it. Unfortunately, not the best quality footage to do the sound justice either.

Because we kept them... This is very much prior to thr Internet... The Australian top 10 was more influenced by the music down under and the need to sound good LIVE. This is back before the widescale use of enhancement software and lip syncing was a total sin.
Watch how John regulates his voice by moving the microphone away so as not to overwhelm the other voices. John Farnham brought out the best in others because he was so generous; he sung WITH, not OVER.
I still yave trouble remembering that HELP is a Beatles song that John covered rather than the other way around because the sound, and song, work better in Soul than Pop.

Two absolute legends on one stage, talk about moneys worth wow. John & Jimmy are loved just as much over here in New Zealand. Jimmy with the growl in his voice just made for rock music, then in my opinion you have the G.O.A.T Mr John Farnham. The reason for me John has the better voice is his range, a bit of grit and the power. John covers one of cold chisel's songs When The War Is Over, and yes Jimmy as their singer does an outstanding performance. Sorry John's version wow When The War Is Over ruclips.net/video/BekbvlLzMWc/видео.html again it's the range John gets that takes an iconic song & makes it awesome.
Listening to Farnsey live is the way to go he has a voice for live performances, in his concerts he has such respect for his band and his fans. The way he loves to interact with the crowd, like when they sing parts of his songs. Then you've got a bit of comedy thrown in as well also he can sing any genre of music from ballads to rock. This icon could belt those notes out at age 70 as if he was 40, simply amazing. Being one of the most humble guys you would meet, he never thinks as though he is the best John just loves to sing and entertain crowds and that's what he does best. So in wishing he recovers from this horrible disease thank you for reacting to these two legends of the music industry.
