Me
Literally me starting my podcast tonight in my bedroom before my roommate gets home with no audio/visual/editing experience what so ever!! Starting fast and getting off the ground is an understatement !
TheBlurbs D. How is your pod going? Stick with it? What’s the RUclips?
Understandable, though dabbling in film editing myself I'm rather questioning " Isn't Podcasting based on solely Audio ? " What is the purpose for everything else aside from using as sound effects. Visual needs ?
how is it going?
🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣Hey guys I’m just starting out in the Podcasting world! Check it out for laughs and funny content ! We are drinking in these so pour it up! anchor.fm/LetsSip 🥂💋🗣
@@iranaespearman just had a listen there on Spotify. You need more enthusiasm in your voice I'd say, every sentence sounded like it was an effort for you.
I love them all, but you can definitely see the growth.
I'm pretty much binge watching your whole channel right now and want to thank you for being as real as you are - not as over the top as most people think you'd need to be on RUclips. I really appreciate your minimalism, and the way you tell your stories.
Effecient, simple, true.
Also I'd enjoy to see more stuff about filmmaking, although I find the whole topic around minimalism interesting.
Matt, i m marathoning (is there such a word) ur direct messages, and i am mind blown by how sincere u are. Ur explanations r clear n filled with important info. A born teacher.
I have been watching you in the last 3-years. I remembered being the earlier patrons supporter to your work. It’s awesome to see your growth and work with The Minimalism. ❤️
Love it! Getting started is more important than being perfect! I keep getting hung up thinking it has to be perfect
Matt, thank you for the resources and advice. I appreciate you and what you stand for.
Your latest iteration is a real inspiration. Thanks for sharing your process and evolution.
Omg thank you so much for this. I'm researching what to do to create my podcast with some friends and this was amazingly helpful 👊❤
This was a great video. I've never thought about doing these sorts of things for a podcast but as I;'m working on one now, these tips couldn't have come at a better time. Thanks!
Thanks matt. Love how you always share how you do things, this helps a lot specially to us aspiring videographers/youtubers/filmmakers. Continue to inspire creators.
I started a podcast about 5 weeks ago and now I’m working on intros. This really helped out. I definitely hit that subscribe button.
Thank you so much for this! I get so much from all of your videos...I'm a bit late to the Matt D'Avella party, but better later than never. Such great information. Much appreciation.
Your podcast is honestly my favorite. I watch/listen every episode! The video clip for Rich Roll's podcast was what first got my attention, and I think it's little things like that and your main intro that really make it stand out. So cool to see what went into it! You also exhibited how to do a great outro ie. Be hilarious 😅
Thanks Kelsey!!!
again... another short but very informative video. Love it especially on the marker part... Thanks :)
Thank you so much. I just started my podcast and this is a huge inspiration for me!
I like how you talk on camera. It’s not obnoxious like so many youtubers.
Thank you so much Matt! 🙌 You are a great inspiration to me and my process as an entrepreneur, minimalist and future filmmaker 🎥🇨🇷
Love the goofiness... Oh and the great tips!!
I so need an intro for my podcast 😆 I just go straight into it every time. I love your new intro, one day it’ll include the rock! Great tips
Matt, you're always a win with the information!!! Thanks!
I found your channel about a month ago and I'm loving it - such high production value. Definitely going to check out the documentary on Netflix.
Thanks!
Thanks for the tips Matt..they were just what I needed..appreciate it man.
You’re really becoming one of my favorite RUclipsrs. Great work !
Hey thanks Erica! That means a lot :)
I really like the quality of footage you've put in
Cool idea to show a video intro for your podcast - love it!!
Okay I'm in Subscribed
I love the quality and your artistic style! Thanks for the tips.
Great advice for a beginner! Thanks man for all your hard work. It has really helped me a lot starting from "The Ground up". :)
Great video Matt! I would love to see a video showing your hardware setup - mics, cameras, lighting etc. Thanks for creating great, visually appealing, content!
Thanks for the tip about using markers at the base drops to help with the pacing of the video. Also keeping the scene tight. My two takeaways from this.
yo how are u verified bro?!
Your a Genius how you just show your growth is amazing!!!
Just found this video😭😭😭😭. Oh well Im still going to implement your tips! Didnt think I needed a podcast intro but I see I do!!!!
Love the video! I found this to be very informative for what I am doing. Keep up the vids Mat!
Just discovered your channel. Fantastic. Love it! Keep creating
I mean..
These are amazing!!!!!!!! Like how did they keep getting better lol
Very inspiring. I was glad to hear pond5 mentioned as my audio portfolio is going up there gradually. I was not entirely clear on use of markers.
Super interesting man. Starting from the ground up ourselves, we find what you do to be super inspiring 💪
Wow, I’ve been following you on RUclips for awhile now, I know you’re a minimalist. I never put it together you directed that documentary. I’m from Missoula and everything ha love your work!
DAMN that third intro was so epic!!
The music you picked for your quick and dirty intro is the same track I picked for a little client promo I shot a year or so ago! So true about spending hours looking for the right track; I'm getting to the point where I can tell in the first second or so if it's what I'm looking for. I really like the music you've settled on for these videos! Solid tips!
Same here. Sometimes a couple skips through the track and then I'm on to the next.
Matt D'Avella exactly. I find looking at the waveform also helps.
Hey I know this was a year ago but can you remember the song name? It's exactly what I'm looking for, a quick punchy over and done with song
This video is all I need. Amazing.
Thank you for your work, very inspiring!
Thats was dope and I appreciate the info. When I finally make something dope I'll make sure I shout you out 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
In Spain we don´t have many podcasters, i want to change this. Thanks Matt
What an awesome video! Keep up the good work man
Great advice man. I think I'm going to try some of your tips with my RUclips Podcast
Hey, this is one of the greatest video about how to do it!. Briliant job! Keep going!
You are so funny. Your last intro was the best The information you provided was so helpful.
The last one actually makes me want to listen to your podcast 👍🏼 sounds interesting
Great video and man whatever camera your recording with now is amazing
i really enjoyed this video and its inspired me event more to do a lot of podcasts
Great video. I'M definitely visiting your podcasts 🙏
Great tips! It rare when I do a YT search and end up finding a vid from channel I'm actually subbed to 😊 SCORE! ❤😘
Thank you for the music library link and tips! Cheers!
Thank you so much! I'm thinking of submitting a podcast for my homework. :))
Thanks. I'm making my own theme and and that was some good pointers.
omg I've been watching your videos for a couple months and I didn't know that you made a documentary on minimalism for Netflix :O
Loved that humour. And ofcourse your advice. 👍👍
Dope intro brother. The current one is absolutely superb.
I only know you from your most recent videos but checked this one out to help with my new podcast. Interesting to see you from previous years! :)
This was super helpful so thankyou!
I never saw a correlation between the GROUND UP show and coffee grounds, WOW. That's pretty clever and cool though. I like it a lot.
Hahaha... great video, the ending was EPIC... 🤣
I like the basic idea in the beginning of just starting quickly. But yeah, polish should be added over time. Thanks brotha!
Lmaooo the ending of the video got my SUBSCRIBE lmaooooo video was good in general straight to the point
Great info! But the end of your video had me cryin' laughing!
Thank you, I appreciate the tips.
Thanks so much, this was super helpful.
These Intros are really great.
This was super helpful! Thank you!
Love this guy! We also have a brand new podcast show in the UK 😊
Great info and tips! Gotta say, my favorite part, though was you talking to someone of camera (like Peter McKinnon does) but then pointing out there's none there! 😁😂 - funny fact...i was intending to do that, too, in one of my next videos...maybe i still will.
Argh. This is super cool!!! I just started podcasting. Wow thanks for this info.
While I appreciate this video, I have to know how you keep your head in focus with such a narrow depth of field. WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?
Jason Zook Face/Eye Tracking?
Tip #1: Don't move back & forth! Tip #2: External monitor with peaking enabled so I can easily spot when I am in focus.
Focus is set to manual.
@@mattdavella haha! just today I was a bit out of focus because I moved! plus couldn't see myself enough (my eyesight getting bad), using 50mm to film myself, the camera's a bit too far from my face so I have to speak loudly which makes me slightly uncomfortable but getting used to it. howhow. Thanks for the tips! Been planning to create my podcast too!
Setup your video camera with the background you want and film some B role. Next, sit in front of a green screen and film your spot. Finally, edit the B role to be blurry, chromakey your A role and you have a great, real-world background and you in the shot. Probably more nuance to all this than I am describing but you get the point. Of course, FilMic pro can get a very tight focus on you while leaving the background blurry too. So, there is that.
Awesome tips. Thanks so much👍
Love this bro
Thanks for the inspiration - my podcast has been going on for so long but now I want to take it to the next level alongside my RUclips channel and begin with an Episode 0 that resets my podcast (not deleting the old stuff) but starting with a fresh new look. I'll make it both audio and video in a sense - primarily it will be audio, but some of my fans like to listen to it on RUclips, so I might film myself with a webcam recording the podcast for those who want a visual aid - that would give me a solid reason to film a cool intro - like the stuff on tight shots as well, I just upgraded my camera with a Sigma 18-35mm lens with bokeh - i could do some great board game shots and get some B-roll footage...........
We have hour-long episodes but I think our intros definitely need to be more succinct. Thanks for the tips and example intro.
Man, before the voiceover I thought it was about coffee
Great video and tips! Thank you!
Dope for sure! Readthelabl.com is starting out in the podcast world, so excited to use your ideas!
You are super talented. It’s obvious! After a few times of an into tho, I try to skip them. On the podcast channel I can hit the 15 sec speed up x amount of times. More challenging on RUclips! 🤷♀️
Yeah, it's mostly for the new listeners.
Great information!! thanks for sharing.
Great video. Music is important. I’m actually a production music composer that’s watching this to make videos to help showcase my music! I compose custom music of almost any genre, but am looking to make myself available to podcasters and you tubers that want custom music. I realized I’m handicapped by not having “show reels” for my compositions, so watching your channel has been quite helpful. Thanks for the info. It was simple and easy to understand and if you ever need custom cues, please feel free to reach out!
This was a solid video bro.
Love these videos I was curious to know what type of equipment you're using, I like the sound of your mic over a lot of podcast I've been listening to audio is obviously the most important part! Thinking about making a podcast of my own, thought this would mention some of the equipment 😔 linking it in the description of your podcasts could help others as well if you have affiliate links, if not still very interested.
Also want to know what type of equipment.
3:55 it starts
The real MVP
Akanksha Aditi thx
Thanks
Hahhaha holy shit, thanks
I think it’s hilarious how you think you were late to the game when people are setting up Podcasts today and still going strong
You're never to late, that's the key 😉
Making my intro this morning!!
where has this been in my life???
"pretty expensive camera kit" this kit is too expensive for me to even be shocked by it. Great video though, love the whole vibe of your videos and podcast. Any tips on finding your "theme" when making a podcast?
Ha yeah. I got it back when I did commercial work and could justify the investment. Now I use it to make RUclips videos 🤦. I'd suggest following your interests. I've always been fascinated with people's story's & the struggle to make things happen. So my work naturally went in that direction.
Matt D'Avella it makes some absolutely beautiful shots, so I'm personally quite happy you made the investment. Thanks for the reply, remind me to fly you out to the Netherlands when my podcast becomes a huge success (hey, we can all dream right?).
Why I just find this video today (17 March 2019)!?
Excellent video!
The third intro definitely gives more context, but man the second intro was fire with that tune :)
Yeah, I did like that track. I have trouble when I hear something too many times I get sick of it. So after like 500 listens it became... too much.
really u yt? :) ififurrrtewwe k/
Thank you for the tips.
Headin for 100K subs! Keep it up ! Sharp, clear and your good dude! (Starting a new podcast....8 years in the making!!!! UGH!)
I really love the how to’s.
