"It's better to be honest than impressive." What a fabulous insight. I wrote this down in my journal of quotes I keep. There's a Matt moment in almost every video, where you give a humble and subtle observation that most would miss. I really think that's the best part of your work. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Weightlifting, cardio, yoga, and now mobility training… The week only has 7 days. I feel lost. 😢
I found myself wanting more at the end! I don't really know how you felt about any of it: how much you enjoyed doing the program, whether it had an impact in how you felt overall, how you'd compare it to other similar interventions you've done in the past (walking 10k steps, yoga).
Yeah fair! Looking back I wish I'd gone into greater detail about those things as well! Thanks for the feedback.
@@mattdavella Also totally fair. You've got room to experiment, my man. We support you.
Man Matt discusses everything so simply and yet so informative you learn so much and it doesn't even feel like learning, just entertaining.
I have so much respect for how you manage to put such a strong lesson in a small video. Thanks for sharing!
A video comparing yoga and mobility training please.
It' the same thing. Except when it comes to yoga you are usually engaging your body, mind and your soul or spirit with it, to connect with a higher power. But there are over 800,000 yoga poses, so most things you do to stretch could be considered a yoga pose.
It was covid and I as most of people got lost of free time. And found out this type of training, I became more flexible and lean even without noticing it. I had no expectations but saw the result.
its usually the best to keep low expectations, so that the results can nothing but bring a smile to your face ^-^
do you still do it consistent ?
Awesome!
I'd be interested in a "state or the habits" type video that talks about the things you did videos on that have stuck as positive changes in your life, even through all the life changes. Thanks for some solid insights as always!
Thanks again for having me on your channel brotha! It was great getting to work with you. I look forward to hearing how you continue to progress from here!
i hope you'll join up again for additional content. this was a good teaser, but i want more info!
Going to have to give this a shot! Especially with sitting at a desk all day, I've noticed my lack of mobility increasing since college
Yes!!! The difference in what I can do at CrossFit/weightlifting five years ago when I started (I squatted by sitting on a box and standing up) to today (overhead squats with a 100+ lbs barbell) is absolutely due to daily mobility training!!
Playing this on the background not because it’s relevant to me but because Matt’s voice is therapeutic and encouraging to hear all the time.
He sounds good at 2x speed too (which is how I watch/listen to everything)
I just went through my first CAES warm up and it blew me away to find just how stiff my joints are. In my exercise routine I practice stabilizing exercises, and now I’ll be adding in CARS exercises as well. Lol thanks for the extra work, Matt!
At the beginning of this month I decided to stretch for 30 days. I could barely reach the middle of my shins before and now I can touch my toes. I don’t enjoy it but by the end of the month I’m definitely going to keep going because I’m tired of feeling so stiff at 18.
remember to do some light warm-up movements like side-step jacks or marching in place. it'll make the stretching SO much easier
@@jmsl_910 oh yeah for sure, I do lots of warm ups before otherwise it’s so hard 😅
I actually can see a lot of improvement in the final clips of you doing the exercises. I wish we could’ve seen more examples of that 0 vs 30 day difference for different exercises to see if it’s worth it to try ourselves.
tl;dr - its worth it. Simply any program that you're comfortable with and able to stay committed will give you great results. Practice makes perfect
Yeah same! I got to the end of the 30 days and realized I could have done a lot more before/after mobility tests to show the difference.
And as the same, if you will continue at least some days throught a weeks, I think there would be more of us who would like some afters after more weeks :)@@mattdavella
the difference is actually big in the 3 you showed, movement looks way smoother and natural after 30 days @@mattdavella
Shocked you’re giving out this much foot content for free 😂
you placing the books under your foot at 4:34 made the Indian in me go 'omg nooo! use an alternative'
loved the video ❤
The book lover in me just severely cringed when he did that 😨😨😨
Bodyweight Warrior/Tom Merrick has loads of free follow-alongs. After doing one of those every day for a month, I felt noticeably...better overall. It's hard to describe, but in general less achy/tight. I went from being unable to touch my toes/squat to being able to much quicker than I thought possible.
I'm unsure how much of the "feeling better overall" improvement is genuine and how much is placebo. But, for my n of 1 and the truly minimal investment of my time required (15-20 minutes/day) I'd say it was well worth incorporating into my daily life.
Those look really good - thanks for sharing!
what a great point about being honest with ourselves when we are learning a new skill. It is easy to want to be good right away, but there is nothing wrong with a learning curve.
This video feels too short like it's 80% introduction and then it kinda ends? There's no journey just Matt saying "I did the thing",
i’m going to say having a newborn for the first time may have something to do with it? i’m glad he’s still making time to post :)
And 15% squarespace
@@maddiekerper486for sure. He needs to take care of the baby and pay the bill....
I did have the same impression. Nothing you can really take home.
I agree! But perhaps this subject matter would be better studied over a period of like 6 months of practice or something? Also can appreciate that a newborn must be a handful alongside work!!
This video was so relevant to me. I never thought about my mobility until last year when all of a sudden, lower back pain hit FAST and HARD and I could barely move at all for months. I know it's not exactly the same, but I learned it was due to weakness in my back muscles that significantly reduced my mobility. I couldn't do normal things like even lift up my legs high enough to climb stairs. I'm a bit better now but I need to i corporate more time in my day to do exercises like you did to continue improving.
Great video as always. Matt never disappoints
Please try running every day for 30 days!!
I'm surprised by how many people have commented this! I'm planning on doing that one soon. Probably won't be until next year since I'm training for a powerlifting comp now.
the moment this video started i knewwwww you were gonna be talking to amir - he in an absolute legend and is definitely changing the game of the fitness industry
Watching this as a fully trained dancer who has done mobility since 3 years old. I still have the daily pain whatever so i do😂 but i think its interesting to watch non dancers dig deaper in things i as a dancer see as normal, because it istn for moste people.
"That pun was a bit of a stretch" I refuse to admit the sound I made when you made that pun
After all these years following you, it makes me so happy to see you diving into topics that are so close to my profession.
Now after seeing you diving into flexibility, and also trying out yoga, perhaps we'll see you trying out handstands?
Feel free to reach out if you'd like some guidance on that one!
recently i've added mobility training into my daily life and it feels amazing
Great video ❤
Any tips for a new RUclipsr, Ali?

Thanks bro you are a great video too ♥️
I am sorry some people are being unnecessarily harsh with you in this video Mattt. I think as usual you made a great job showing your attempt at mobility training, the cinematography is as usual on point, it is funny, endearing and most important it did influence me to try mobility training :) I really like @SamvanGinkel and @WishAtElevenEleven suggestions, perhaps you could do a follow-up video addressing those points? A second-part for this basically. Keep it up, Matt, and ignore the hate!
Mobility training:
CAR - Controlled Articular Rotation.
Pushes full range of motion.
Blood flow, flexibility.
Static vs dynamic.
Exercise should create tension and isolate each movement with other parts.
It's better to be honest than impressive.
I'm grateful for your curiosity and your amazing videos. Thank you so much.
just happy that you uploaded another new video!
Sat up immediately in my chair immediately after seeing the first 2 seconds of this video haha. Cheers Matt! Great video.
Lmaoooo the backpack snatch sent me - amazing
Try calisthenics for a week! I find it the best alternative to the gym, great home workouts and the perfect mix of flex and strenght, full ranges of motion, etc.
I've been doing this for almost a year. It really works.
Oh, great! Sven from CaliMove at 0:17 😀 He's a great Calisthenics guy!
Matt already starting w/ dad jokes...😂😂😂
Matt please if you would like, could you do 30days stretching for splits?
Matt, since you've talked about minimalist, i've been there too.
Now please concern to talk about FRUGAL LIVING matt!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for this great video- definitely going to give this technique a try. Super timing with the usual humour very much appreciated
great starter video. i hope you'll do another one on this topic
grab sleep whenever possible: it's a marathon not a sprint
You will get there Matt! keep doing! Make it a daily habit and it becomes more and more fun!😎😎😎😎
"It's better to be honest than impressive." Nice one Matt :)
This is making me laugh so much. Matt, had you never heard of yoga before this? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
talk about the algorithm knowing, I was literally just wondering about this. Thanks for the helpful content!
I feel like my biceps grew 2” by the end of the video. Good vid.
Poor Deep Work being abused like that! Jokes aside, I needed this video so much!
I am always inspired by your videos, matt
Awesome video as always🤍🌝
I don't think I've ever heard of this, but it's definitely interesting.
Loved it ❤ Waiting for more content...
i know this 30 day format works but we need moreeee
Now I wanna know more about mobility training!
Love the pun, it got me laughing quite a bit:D Thank you for the constant flow of video content despite the newest addition to your family:) Must be tough being a new dad who works from home!
Bro you’re b roll 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨
Can you do a longterm video of this????
No one - * Me 40 seconds in testing my mobility 😂
Thank you for this! Can’t wait to try it!
Right when I was questioning my flexibility you post this lol
Try to do isometrics for 30 days
That smile at 1:51 got me 😂
Great Video! ❤️ I LOVE to see this training getting a little mainstream love - I use Functional Range Conditioning principles in my programs and videos and love hearing how great people feel because of it! Can’t wait for your powerlifting vid! 🚀
Really enjoyed this video. You always seem to produce videos on topics im thinking about- do you have cameras or spys in my home? Very strange. However, loved the video
I missed your videos so much
Now, that you are a dad, you developed the ability of dad jokes.
You've tried things for 30 days, have you ever committing to make any of those as part of your lifestyle?
Part 2 please. Maybe 60 day progress?
Can you please run everyday for 30 days. Then, sign up for a 5K or maybe 10K race?
Yes!
You should do 30 days in barefoot shoes, I saw beard was wearing them. Supposed to great for longevity
I feel like you just concluded with how good you got with the exercises and not how its affected your life and to what extent.
At least we must be thankful for originality
I feel like I’ve watched a video long integration of that mobility coach ad.
Sorry you didn't like the video!
so important!
Oh you bought a new sweatshirt🎉
There is a DEFINITE difference between Day 1 and Day 30! I wouldn't say it's small at all, honestly.
Buttery joints !
I think that there was a ton of improvement between day 1 and 30
Oh, I need to do this for sure
Can you do a video on life differences between Sydney and LA? Tempted to move myself!
10/10 would recommend Sydney. Come visit first to see how you like it!
hey i watched your t shirt episode and it looks like your wearing more shirts these days. what brand of shirts are you buying these days since the jcrew one got discontinued? I am having such a hard time finding good t shirts and having good style. but i really like your style. you have nice shirts and shorts in this video. hoping you get a moment u answer. i would greatly appreciate it. thanks
Thanks Matt. :)

I thought that was the guy from Strength Side at first. 😅
Thank you very much
Matt woke up and deciced to feed the WikiFeet
Missing Frankie in that video at least for a few seconds 😍🙏🏼
