- People with a cold usually have congestion forming in their sinuses and other air spaces. This congestion can block the airflow in your sinuses and eustachian tubes, making it hard or even impossible to equalize your ears while scuba diving. This is why you should not scuba dive with a cold?
Some scuba divers use anti congestion medication to be able to scuba dive. This is bad and you should never do this. Depending on the person and the conditions medication can wear off, be less effective, or cause side effects under pressure. This can cause serious problems underwater.
Can you Scuba Dive with a cold? Don’t scuba dive if you have or suspect a cold. Just stay home, rest and drink lots of water and then go scuba diving when you are fit and healthy again.

Can you Scuba Dive with a cold video.
I once had a slight cold, but considered it still okay for the holiday’s last dive. I ended up ascending with a painful reverse block and had to re-enter the zodiac with a severe vertigo. In my defence, it was 2007 and my 12th dive. 😉
Yeah, hope you are now better. Having a cold and diving really don't mix well together. I had the same experience before.
I had the exact thing happen to me about 15 years ago. I was living in Saudi Arabia and was diving every day. I had a head cold and did not dive for a few days and got impatient, so I took some meds and all was well until I ascended and experienced my first ( and last) reverse blockage. I hung around 15 feet for what seemed like an eternity and decided to go for it. Excruciating pain and a headache for at least a week. Neve again. I know- I got off lucky.
Yep and happened to me also in the beginning of my diving career... never dive when you are sick and don't try to solve it with meds.... take rest, drink water and when you feel great then go diving :)
