Hi there, before commenting or unsubscribing, the other half of this video about Where To Move if Kamala Harris Wins is here: ruclips.net/video/X1vC_RkJ4NA/видео.html I made two videos for a fair and balanced perspective. ^Correction: In this video, I said that Angela Merkel and Olaf Scholz are from the same political party. However, Merkel is a member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany while Scholz is member of the Social Democratic Party. My apologies for the error.
That might have been good to say at the beginning of the video rather than having a headline/title stand alone that makes it sound as if you endorse her. I literally thought about unsubscribing until I watched the beginning of the video and you mentioned you are just sharing the information. The title could easily be misconstrued, but of course, it's all about clicks and comments, so the headline did its job apparently. Some people, however, might not get that far in the video and just read the title and make that decision to unsubscribe.
@@MikeDavis-li8tk I think it was a good play because some people would’ve been anticipating commenting on another video instead of this one without knowing and probably wouldn’t fully give input here. Then again everybody’s different. Some say it should’ve been brought up, the other half didn’t matter. She can’t satisfy everyone at once. I’d say it’s their fault for not watching the whole message. That wouldn’t be anything different than what people already do that follow her. They should know her better than that she would bring politics in on one side, but then some may be too sensitive.
@@WrldExplorer I hear you and that makes sense. Politics can be divisive, so to have a headline like that with no explanation in the video that there will be a different video coming out tomorrow about "Where to Move if Kamala Wins." Not everyone will make it to the comments to see her comment that the other video is coming out tomorrow. I love her videos. I think she is amazing, and her videos are ones I look forward to seeing, but this is a goof-up in my opinion.
I retired in 2014 and moved from California to Ecuador and it was the smartest decision ever. As a "Tercera Edad" (senior citizen) I get generous discounts, pay $81/mo. for excellent and free healthcare, and get back a portion of sales taxes paid. And it has the Dollar for currency. And the people are very friendly and respectful, no road rage down here.
To all the people in the comments saying people on the left never leave the US: Many of us do take the leap. Been living in Norway for six months and it’s been wonderful:
I know! They said they would and didn't. Now saying if Trump wins or doesn't, we should move to Cuba, Venazuela, etc. It would behoove them to move to one of those countries! After myself being in one and seeing what it is like when you own nothing...then you realize this adminstration is more in favor of communist rule and using the same tactics at getting there! I suggest they travel as I learned a lot after visiting 43 countries. And they may develop a different opinion.
Let's see. You start voting at 18. There's a Presidential election every four years. That would make you somewhere north of 125 years old, so I'm guessing you would already have left this world for a better one (or a far worse one) by then.
Well Rush Limbaugh loudly and repeatedly threatened to leave if Obama won....and he didn't so I would say the rhetoric is just as loud on the other side
I would happily take their citizenship. Australia is going down the drain. I want the right to freedom of speech, right to bear arms and freedom of movement back.
If you're really worried about your kids, then hope the ditz and the putz don't find a way to get elected. The ditz already told a youth who said "Jesus is Lord" that they are at the wrong rally. If you vote for the ditz, you've swallowed the narrative the Dems and media have falsely created. You've already experienced the good times of trump's economy.
I have some froend who had the opportunity to work at an overseas position with his company in europe. They've been living there since late 2017. It started as a temporary move but it became permanent 2019. I've visited them once in the Netherlands after the pandemic and they love it. Their two young kids growing up like kids picked up speaking two other languages. Taxes are higher in europe but so is the quality of life.

If you are going to Canada for a 180 day exploratory visit, please understand that any health care costs you incur you will have to pay up front, and out of pocket. It costs roughly $1000 out of pocket to be seen at a hospital ER. If you emigrate to Canada, be prepared to pay roughly 1/2 of your income in taxes (income, property, gasoline, carbon tax, sales tax, etc.) Go visit Canada, but don't get sick unless you have good travel insurance.

Please, come to Canada. We need more tax slaves to pay for government programs that will not benefit you. Also, keep in mind that the price for an item on the store shelf is not what you will pay at the checkout. They do that to fool the foreigners into thinking the cost of goods are affordable.
I'm originally from the US but married a Canadian. Why don't YOU move to the US. I would love for you to get to go through what I did when my mom died because of being denied surgery from her longtime health care provider that she paid into through her employer for decades. I left already the States, but not for political reasons. Having studied in Germany, I grew to like this country, with its strong social system. We live in the Toscana of Germany. It is warm in the summer and mild in the winter. I do not miss American corporate greed and tax avoidance.
Wunderbar! If I leave- unless Germany goes nuts too (far right)- it's where I'd go. It's my mother's 1st home, I have cousins and relatives there along with at least 1 friend. I'm not fluent, but I can speak some German and with a little practice, I'm sure I'd be ok.
Yes, Germany is quickly becoming the land of the pensioners. At some point the system will break under its own weight and the social contract will have to be renegotiated, but depending on how old you are, it may or may not affect you directly. Did you give up your US citizenship? Also, Toscana of Germany, what did you mean by that? Did you mean "Ticino" of Germany (as in the Italian-speaking canton of Switzerland that's warmer both culturally and weather wise than the rest of that country)? What's analogous to Ticino in Germany? I would guess something like Konstanz or to be even more esoteric guess the German enclave within Switzerland called "Büsingen am Hochrhein"? Just a guess, don't have to give your real locality but a rough area... looking to retire back to Europe in the next 10-15 years and starting very, very preliminary scouting.
@@mva6044 Hi, I am away in Oman and have lots to do just now. Thanks for your interest. When I finally decided on a German future, I imagined dual citizenship. My first apöplikcyation failed. I argued that part of my income came from the States. Using the same argumentation I tried a second time. When I came to do formalities the authorities presented a document whereby I renounced US citizenship. In short, I acceded and am now 100% "German". From my upbringing I am American. My wife is German. We are horrified about the political scene especially because I served in the USAR and was raised in a conservative way. Our home is close to Baden Baden. It is warm. We harvest 2 weeks earlier than 100 km to the north, thus "Toscana of Germany". I do not regret my choice. In ghe States I already spoke German from my graduate studies and for personal reasons. No-one had an inkling in the 1990s that MAGA would strive for a dictatorship. I voted a couple of time Rep before expatriating- for the candidate, not the party. My family is partly Jewish, but I am not observant. I encounter no direct anti-Jewish sentiment, but it exists here and elsewhere.
German here: Do us a huge favor and do not move to cities such as Berlin, Munich, Hamburg or Cologne. Nearly all expats moving to Europe chose the capitals, leaving the housing market in huge disarray for the locals. Understandable if they are looking for other expats to network with, but they also miss out on the opportunity if getting to know charming slightly smaller cities and towns with a decent housing market and plenty of locals to interact with.
While I didn't vote for Trump that year (libertarian), I was disappointed no one claiming they would move actually followed through on their threat. If I could make my life work out like that, I would totally be a digital nomad - not for political reasons, just to experience more of the world. About 6 months in each country sounds about right.
Only a lot poorer because of 4 years of Biden and the democrats! And living in a dystopian nightmare. It seems normality is scary, dystopia is great for some people.
It’s important to remember that every European country with a strong social welfare system, work/life balance, publicly funded medical care, and all the other aspects of life that are assumed to be of value to Democratic US citizens, also have similar societal pressures, anti-immigration sentiments, growing resentment of green initiatives, and surging right-wing parties fueled by all of the above. And unless you are able to claim citizenship by descent, you will not be able to vote in your adopted country for at least five years, or in some cases even longer. Leaving the US is an opportunity to get out of the immediate vicinity of a certain brand of chaos, but it doesn’t allow us to stick our heads in the sand - and chaos has a way of spreading, too. Bon courage. 🇪🇸 🇵🇹 🇫🇷
A right wing party is ultimately ok when there are several parties to choose from. In the US both parties are right wing, although as long as trump is alive his 3rd party (MAGA) is centered around him as an autocratic leader and is extremely right wing. We have no ability to have even a third party to be more moderate, so even other weak democracies offer more choice and support for most people.
@@vtxgenie1You make a fair point, but as shown in France recently, it often comes down to a left-leaning coalition vs a right-leaning coalition eventually
@@shinyshinythings But forming a coalition government with people across the spectrum is much better than struggling to choose between the Center-Right Party and the Right (or increasingly Far-Right) Party in the US. You do realize that most countries mentioned has great social benefits and free health care that right now U.S. citizens can only dream of. I am Canadian and the only place I'd like to move to is New Zealand, I'm a big fan of Maori culture.
For MAGA moron. There is only one place you can move. The Antarctic! Nobody there. You have it all for yourself. You can build your MAGA world. Take Elon Musk and the Trump clan with you! And one thing. DO NOT MOVE TO WHERE I LIVE! Thanks.
These are both great videos! I lived abroad for several years and hope to do so again at some point regardless of who wins. I love that I've visited several of the countries you listed (Canada, France, Germany, Costa Rica) and the others are on my bucket list.
Most Seniors I know are on a Budget. What are the best Countries for Senior Americans to move to on a budget? I researched this and Croatia keeps coming up. What do you think, Kristin?
Southern France is actually rather conservative. Many there want Trump to win because they think he's better for the US economy, which has a big impact on France's economy.
@@karmickittycat then they’re just as misguided as MAGA. Trump was TERRIBLE for the global economy. He just TOLD everyone he was great. Thanks for putting this together Kristin. I actually enjoy France, and think it would be a nice retirement home. Sorry you received so many negative political comments from viewers. The US didn't used to be like this.
Thank you, Steve. I'm glad you found the video informative. I'm also dismayed by the quantity of negative comments, but perhaps that's part of the reason why ^some people aren't happy living in the U.S. anymore.
Do you actually think the response would have been different if you made it for "If Harris Wins"? The rhetoric on both sides is inflammatory, and the vids title is intentionally so.
Retired and living permanently in Thailand. All the places you describe are good choices. For me, it is the cold of winter I wish to avoid. New Zealand is great but not so easy to get into. Costa Rica is great, if you have lots of money. As a retired high school teacher I am not quite in that category. But simple living, great food and year round warmth, (and good friendly people), Thailand for me.
I want to mention that many people may wish to leave-irrespective of red or blue-but might be encumbered by money problems; health issues; child rearing; career needs; aging parents; disability; and other pressing concerns including a wish not to give up on neighbors, friends, and community.
Money is a critical issue. I have friends who really struggle to make money remotely & they definitely don't want to work on local salaries. One of my friends in Panama has a worker for ALL Day at $30/day.
I currently live/work in Lisbon, Portugal. Over the past 30+ years I have lived/worked in 10 countries - Middle-East, Asia, elsewhere in Europe. It is not so easy to move to another country, unless (like I did) you work for a company or in a profession (teaching for me), that wll enable you to get proper visas/residencies/etc. There is also the 'culture shock' of leaving your familiar community/family/friends and starting anew elsewhere. Moving abroad is not for the faint of heart.
@kristylarson9906 So, you're descended from slave owners? Don't let your fellow liberals know that. You may have to leave the country or pay reparations your friends on the left are so fond of.🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰
My parents passed away 3 yrs ago and 3 weeks apart. I miss them so bad everyday! I’m 55 and got jipped with my parents passing away so soon😢 I get it also about living in different states. Follow your heart.💓
Losing a parent can be traumatic, i lost both of my parents as a teenager. Keeping this in mind, you were blessed to have parents as long as you did. By the time one is 45, unless one's parents were very young when they gave birth, one has limited time left with parents.
I've been testing Italy but the topography is a bit hard. Canada and the UK both have no visa requirements for US citizens, so you could split time that way.
I've spent a lot of time there, have friends there and yes, it's a pretty great place (although there's the feeling there as well that they've somewhat lost their way in some aspects). It IS expensive, however. I could say much the same about Switzerland too. Both might be a little tougher in terms of requirements too, but yes, both places are good places.
I moved away from my homeland of the United States. The last time Trump was president. Down to grand old Mexico. I love it here. It's beautiful. It was the best decision I ever made. I ended up in Puerto Vallarta as well as San Miguel de Allende . If Trump should work his way back into the White House all of us here in Puerto Vallarta especially expecting a titled wave of Expats to move here. It's a great life. Come on down..
The irony being u prob moved to a place that is significantly less woke and less homeless people, less tax, more bang for buck, less pharma drugs, etc. Things trump would push America more to. (Ive never been there to be fair I just don't imagine guys are claiming girls and all the weird stuff there)
Watching this from the UK which is literally falling apart in every way unless you're rich, makes me realise how far we have fallen. Following along after the USA like their poodle is a bit of a mistake.
The only affordable country in that list is Costa Rica, the cost of living is about 1500 US a month, so if you have an internet job being paid in US dollars, you should be golden.
That's more of a salary for the Philippines not CR. I live in Panama & people leave CR for Panama because cost of living is less here. The only way to live on $1500 is to own a property free and clear. Food is less than the US, but its still not cheap here.
France can be very affordable. Tax treaty, healthcare, and reciprocal drivers license make it a no brainer. Religious influence is also not a problem in France like it is in the US. My planning to move there has nothing to do with the election, my money will go much further. Been researching potential countries for a few years.
@@selin8274 I have a French friend who choose to leave France due to lots of social issues there. School teachers are being beat up by students and their parents & they are calling in sick. Thank you so much for this video! While I think I will stay in the US if Trump wins, I think the anxiety will be overwhelming. I was anxious all during his first term because of the brutality and chaos. This time, I will be on his "enemy within" list, so may actually be in danger of arrest or other harassment. I am 73 years old, so well-settled in my US lifestyle. Since language would be a barrier, what you said about Canada and France were both good for me, although I worry about expense. Most of all, this video has lowered my anxiety level. I think Harris will win due to the extreme enthusiasm -- greater than during any previous election -- even when Obama was running. But the polls are so close. Therefore, it was nice to pin down some possibilities just in case Trump wins.
What brutality and chaos? I'm genuinely curious. The BLM riots seemed quite brutal and chaotic especially in some places, is that what you're referring to?
That's a good idea. I'm not sure I'm the best person to make that video since I don't have personal experience, but my friend Amanda, The Black Expat, might have some content about that. Her website is theblackexpat.com/
As an immigrant I think that it will be a great blessing if people move to another country after these elections. They'll get a different perspective of the world and perhaps create a model-country for the rest of the world, that will prove that socialism works and bring like-minded people together. On the other, hand those that fled Cuba, Venezuela, and other communist European countries perhaps will have the opportunity to make tangible their 'American dream'. We won't have to be divided. We just need to relocate according to our beliefs and principles...
I LOVE this video! I'm in the 15% of Americans who are seriously thinking of leaving the US is the orange sadist "wins" (by cheating, or course) on 11/5. Norway has always "called" me, as has France (where I have spent a few months, and loved every minute of it). Several people recently have been telling me that Portugal is a great choice, so now I'm going to watch your video about moving to Portugal. THANK YOU for this information!
Id go for New Zealand. I live in Australia and I seriously consider New Zealand myself. There's Canada and Australia of course. prepared to learn a foreign language? France, Germany perhaps. What if Ukraine falls though? Putin will invade the Baltic trio, then Poland. He will then consider getting East Germany back. New Zealand. It's the best choice.
Honestly every American should consider the systems in countries elsewhere, no matter who wins. The USA could then learn how to do comprehensive healthcare, how to create a fair, progressive and effective taxation system for the common good, how to spend money on education and the social universal good instead of mainly on just the military, and why its so important to get big money out of politics. Other countries have these things - its not impossible.
It's not that simple. US pays more to help out other countries, to go "green" which isn't working out as well as promised and ESPECIALLY bc the US keeps the oceans free of pirates (we are pretty much the only ones!) Plus paying the majority of the costs of NATO which means all of Europe can spend their money differently. Plus the immigration issues are happening in ALL of these countries and they are ALL starting to collapse under the strain. It's not as simple or as wonderful as advertised
There are no perfect countries (maybe Norway and Switzeland are getting close). I'm an immigrant and I chose the USA after having traveled to many countries on different continents. There is a reason why millions of immigrants come to the States from all over the world. No "free" healthcare? Who cares if the country provides plenty of opportunities to make money and buy your own insurance. Less taxes than in most of developed countries mean you can save more for what is important for you. Safety nets are not free and government will abuse money it gets.
@@Whatever-t9s First, it is 'doesn't' not 'don't'.... Residents (that means you, if you want to live there...) pay on ALL income worldwide. Non-residents are only taxed on Paraguayan-sourced income. You can't live there and claim not to live there. Paraguay has bizarre rules for taxes. Feel free to go.
That is something that keeps getting repeated AGAIN and Again. There are many other countries that do it like Brasil, India. Mexico has it in their tax code but doesn't usually do it. If one is from the US, one can make active income up to 118k internationally, without paying any taxes. Now, if you make money from passive income then that is not sheltered, but get a good tax professional.
You couldn't pay me enough to move to America under trump again. The man is insane, and so are many of the people. I don't have a death wish. Thank god I live in Australia. 💙
FYI, since the late 90s, many people have said that they would move if candidate "x" would win. For example, Rush Limbaugh famously said that he would move to Costa Rica if Hillary Clinton had beaten Donald Trump in the 2016 elections. Note that Costa Rica (as Kristin mentioned) has universal healthcare and a strong social system, so it was likely that Limbaugh may not have been happy there. (On a side note, "Ottowa" is spelt "Ottawa").

Hi Kristin, I look forward to your next video as well. My first question as I read this video’s title was exactly about that: Where is the best place to move if Harris wins? Unfortunately, no matter the country to which we choose to move, in my opinion, the political systems are hopelessly corrupt. It’s just a matter at this point of finding the least corrupt location that has the potential of offering the opportunity for our best life, however we define it. Ultimately, no matter where we are, it’s up to each of us to create our best life regardless of any challenges we face. Also unfortunately, (again, my opinion), with our US two-party commandeered system, we are continually faced with the choice between the least evil of two at best mediocre candidates. I know I am not alone in that opinion, given the geometrically growing number of Americans seeking to expatriate. In my view, as you and others have pointed out, in many ways, the US is NOT the best country in the world. Obviously the choice to live elsewhere is based on both objective and subjective factors. Thank you for all you bring for our awareness and enrichment!

Hi kristin, thank you for such an informative video. My husband (Vet) traveled extensively while he was in the military and we loved it. I especially loved France and Italy. I'm apologizing for any disrespectful comments from Americans. I was raised in a time when we were taught manners, it's not that way anymore. I do have a question for you. Do you by any chance know if any seniors collecting Social Security can still continue to get it? I think that would be very informative for seniors. Btw, I would want to leave America, not because of Presidents, but because of uninformed people who have let politics run their lives thereby causing a huge division among the people. All they have to do is look up how much we pay both sides and how much we get paid to know this government is not good for anyone, including them. Thank you so much.
I would suggest, if you're lgbtq you could try Somalia, or any muslim majority country. If you're part of the BLM movement you might want to consider Russia or China. Or if you're for defunding the police you might like Haiti. Good luck!!!

”Sweden is extremely safe” depends on where you are. City center of Stockholm mostly fine, but some suburbs have many gangs and shootings. Also would only leave my laptop in a café if asking someone to keep an eye on it while going to the bathroom. This is not the Sweden of 20-30 years ago (coming from a Swede who moved out).
Hi Kristin-- I'm a huge fan of yours, your videos helped me make the GREAT decision to move to Mexico as a person who chooses to live a minimalist/high quality lifestyle. I quit my airline job-- and now I travel more than I did as a Flight Attendant because I'm a Digital Nomad saving tons of money for confirmed seats instead of 'standby' employee seats (where we often get bumped 2-3 times every leg)... I'd rather just pay. I am a NEVER Trumper and am appalled that nearly 50% Americans seem to think a convicted criminal is a good candidate to run our country. Okay....NOT. If Kamala wins, I will move back to Jacksonville Beach FL, which is my favorite city in the country and travel from there....but until then--- I'm happy to be living near wonderful, kind people in a 3-bed, 2-bath very nice house in a walkable city outside of Mexico City and my portion of the rent is less than $400. I rent out the other 2 bedrooms to a really nice young bi-lingual woman and her 8-year-old son who were deported from US after living there 18 years. Life is good:-)
I live 45 minutes from Halifax. The city has had such an influx of people moving here in the last few years, housing prices have skyrocketed, infrastructure is struggling to keep up, getting around the city is getting very challenging and 145, 000 people in this province do not have a family doctor now. Now is not the time to move here. Maybe once these problems of fast growth in the city are figured out...
We live in the USA 10 miles from Canada. My wife was born in Vancouver and has Canadian citizenship. My father was born in Canada. We currently spend two to three months each year cruising on our boat in British Columbia. If Trump gets elected, what do you think we plan to do? It doesn't take a genius.
Many Canadians would love to have a leader like Trump in Canada, they are sick and tired of Trudeau. Trudeau had the lowest confidence rating in Canadian history. 69% of Canadians voted against Trudeau. I have neighbors of mine who escaped from Canada in Central American & they would never move back to Canada. Just because a family member was born somewhere doesn't mean you know what it like to live in a country. You just boat around, it means you are a vacationer.
Thats fair. I can't wait for other video. Thank you
That might have been good to say at the beginning of the video rather than having a headline/title stand alone that makes it sound as if you endorse her.

Thanks for your interest. When I finally decided on a German future, I imagined dual citizenship. My first apöplikcyation failed. I argued that part of my income came from the States.

😂
You should leave now while you still alive. so will be 1 less dum voter
Do you need help moving?
What brutality and chaos? I'm genuinely curious. The BLM riots seemed quite brutal and chaotic especially in some places, is that what you're referring to?
Can you do one for Black and Hispanic people? What countries are most receptive to us?
That's a good idea. I'm not sure I'm the best person to make that video since I don't have personal experience, but my friend Amanda, The Black Expat, might have some content about that. Her website is theblackexpat.com/

Europe has been kind to me. People dont seem to care about skin color as much. I’m talking UK, France, Switzerland from my experience

"We just need to relocate according to our beliefs and principles."..that would be Sweden or Norway
Socialism works; as you post on a computer? I don't get it.
That innovation wasn't created by government subsidies.
Sounds tough but over 99% of the people that say they seriously think of leaving end up staying in MAGA country 😉
This is the video for me! Thanks Kristin!
Thank you. Best comment here.
I'm not waiting months for a simple doc visit.
Guys don't sleep on France, it appears relatively easy to get the first year...down the line you will need French at B2 level?
Go wherever you want but the USA will be taxing your income wherever you go. The USA is like the only country in the world that does that.
Paraguay don't tax outside income
The one advantage of Canuckistan.
@@Whatever-t9s They do tax on one's total wealth inside the country called a wealth tax.

Canada, France, Sweden, Germany, Norway, New Zealand, Portugal, Costa Rica.
Thank you, Kristin! Stay safe, be well!
Rush, oh we can sure use a guy like that back on this earth. Rush self insured so the healthcare in Cost Rica would be irrelevant.
fyi, trump doled out the BIGGEST treasury payments to u.s. citizens EVER w/ his $3200 stim checks. remember oct 2020 when that last check dropped? dems been wasting taxpayer money for 4 solid yrs on israel & ukraine instead, & now those 2 countries arent fit to travel in. the trump yrs were hands down the BEST economy in the u.s. since the 1960's. ppl seldom leave the u.s. for better healthcare:)

@@colinfitzgerald4332 Thank you! I love my country regardless and will die here no matter how bad things get.
Just leave, and don't come back.

Apple, the biggest stock holding, earns 58% of its revenue outside the US. I don't know if Trump can save the US but, I believe he wants to.
