@@DanTheTurtleMan_ ive different varieties of turtle. I like to collect turtles, only few of turtles available here. Indian roofed which is illegal i bought it in market, red slider, and few locally available ones. I like how enthusiastic you are in topic of turtles.

i caught an Eastern painted turtle so small it would fit through the neck of a soda bottle. The next week at another pond i caught a hatchling RES and another Eastern painted turtle. I had them in a 20 gallon with UV-B UV-A light and a Zoo Med filter and a place to haul themselves out of the water. I started a mealworm culture, which was one of their favs. I also fed them those shrimp in the little cans made for reps. After a while both of the painted turtles would play tricks on the RES😃. I let them go about 2 years later after they all had a good start in life. It was the second pond i let them go at which is in a game preserve. About another 2 years i was at the pond again and i saw the RES on a log i knew she recognized me by the expression on her face.
"if you keep well fed, the odds of aggression are fairly low" applies to humans as well I think hahahaha

Beautiful hatchlings. I got my first turtle a Southern Painted hatchling. Not very receptive to eating but I found what he likes (frozen bloodworms) so I feed him that twice a day. Other than that he is healthy and super active.

Hi! I have a question. I ignorantly ordered a baby river cooter turtle online and it was traumatizing for me, the turtle, and the poor UPS guy. She came in a box with no holes and her packing was dry. I paid for overnight and it took two days. She flew from Florida to Texas so was 100° the whole time. The box didn’t say anything about live animal so she was probably thrown around and the ups driver had no clue he had a live animal. I made the ups guy stay with me to open the box because I was terrified. She was shriveled up, grey, cold and not moving. We both thought she was dead because she did not move at all. I got her out and there was a note that said “I’m not dead I’m hibernating.” Is that a thing? Is that normal? She was the size of a quarter. She couldn’t have been more than a few days old. I called vets and got every medicine I could get her and she was touch and go for about a week. She would blink and move for a second then be like asleep and unresponsive. I’m new to turtles so it was a learning experience for sure but I did everything I could and I am glad to say she is alive and well and has become the love of my life lol. I just wanted to know if this is normal or abuse and if so should I report? It’s a very well known site… I have a million other questions but we will start with this. Thanks so much!

Hey Dan,quick question, I will be getting a baby stinkpot musk turtle , and I am not sure how big the turtle should be from when I upgrade it( it has a 20gal tank set up) to a 40 gal, thx in advance
Verry beautifull dan!my female centrata also is a blue concentric. the head is blue and sometimes in different light even purple ish its so stunning when they are adult 😁🥰 and i have one concentric male that has a really bright and light collored shell i cant wait till those 2 will have babys she is now 16 centimeters do you think she will be ready for her first clutch next year in the spring? I also have a juvenile normal dotts centrata female and a normal dotts adult male that is really dark so its gonna be a suprise if she will lay eggs haha one more question do you know if the blue skin is breedable ?
Blue skin is passed down. But again, you never know! All northerns can throw white skin, blue, northern phenotype or concentric.

You cannot keep the native littoralis subspecies in Texas legally unfortunately

Sounds like you were sold some sick animals. Speak to the person you got them from. Sounds like a respiratory infection. Crank temps to 85F!
