2025 BMW X5 Review: A Performance Beast or Just Hype?
The 2025 BMW X5 is shaping up to be a solid evolution of this iconic luxury SUV. While the 2024 model received significant updates, the 2025 X5 carries over much of the same design and technology. BMW made a few tweaks to the packaging, and it’s expected that the new X5 will maintain its sleek, sophisticated look with a bold front grille, updated headlights, and taillights.
Engine Options and Performance: The 2025 BMW X5 offers four trim models, with engine options to suit a variety of driving preferences. The base model, the sDrive40i, comes with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine producing 375 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, offering all-wheel drive as an option. This model can hit 0-60 mph in just 4.8 seconds, making it both practical and fast.
For those who seek more power, the xDrive M60i, equipped with a 523-horsepower 4.4-liter V8 engine, accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in an impressive 3.9 seconds. For environmentally-conscious drivers, the xDrive50e is a plug-in hybrid that combines a turbocharged inline-six with an electric motor to produce 483 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, with an all-electric range of up to 40 miles.
Exterior and Design: The 2025 X5 will likely retain its elegant yet aggressive look. BMW has modernized the exterior with subtle revisions, including a slightly larger kidney grille and new LED lighting at both the front and rear. The overall silhouette remains sporty, with strong lines and muscular curves, making the X5 stand out on the road.
