Odessa isn’t a place for tourist it’s a place that helps the Texas economy and people go there to work not to visit so much opportunity if you are willing to bust you are to make it out of a town like odessa

I lived in Odessa for a while in the late 50's. I have many fond memories of living there. I noticed that most of the filming was of houses built during the 30's and 40's. And they are the same everywhere, including in the California town I am in now, and that I see in all of the older towns and cities anywhere you go that has houses built of those ages. In some areas there are even houses built in the late 1800's and early 1900s which are just shacks. The 30's a and 40's houses are palaces besides them. Such is life, and myself, I still fondly look back at Odessa, which was the first place I saw sycronized traffic lights throughout the city, even in residential neighborhoods. I could drive in any direction, and as long as I drove the posted speed limit I never had to stop crossing town in any direction. I loved it there. Hold your heads high Odessa, don't let these shitheads get to you.
Odessa, Odessa, Hodessa, like some people call my city, yes, it is uuugly, boring, hot, dry, etc... however, if you like money and work hard for it, this is the place, I know people that became rich just for selling water to the rigs, selling burritos to the workers, supplying cleaning supplies to the offices or cleaning houses! If you are a smart and hard working person, this is the place to live
First video I’ve seen from you and my last. No matter what the situation is, I do not associate myself with people that cut down others to make themselves feel better. That dump of a city works harder than you’ve ever dreamed of in your life. Here you are driving around cities instead of working like the very people you’re cutting down.
I was raised in Odessa. It may not be the garden spot of the world, but it's home. Odessa is an old desert city and located in the oil patch. You're in Texas, you're gonna see trucks. A Prius would never make it in the oil patch. No to Oklahoma! Thank goodness for oil patch workers or we wouldn't have fuel for our vehicles. Unless you chose to drive an EV, which isn't environmentally friendly either. Chris Kyle, American Sniper and the Gatlin Brothers are from Odessa.
I remember when an apartment was $275 a month, then it went up to $500, then the oil boom hit and many people came from other places to work in the oil field and the rent is now about $900 to $1,000 a month for one bedroom
Good video friend! A lot of employers pay more for those jobs not in the oil field. That’s the only reason I’m here. Midland is slightly nicer, there’s a Bass pro shop coming in 2024.
The I-20 In Midland Is Nothing But A HUGE Mess RN With All The Widening Construction. That Long Wait For The Construction On I-20 To Be Finished Within The Next 10 Years Apparently Will Definitely Be Worth It For Much Better Traffic Flow Since It’s Been Growing Massively For The Past Years.
This video is obviously only one person's opinion. Odessa is a city of over 100k nice folks, a lot who work in the oil industry, as is most of west Texas cities. It is not Barron, but we are not a luscious green city because we are located in the desert southwest section of the U.S. We view you are seeing here is coming in to Odessa from the east on I-20, and entering into the low income section of town. The rest of Odessa boasts many beautiful homes, many nice well known restaurants and businesses with more coming in regularly as Odessa is growing by leaps and bounds. This video is capturing a small area of Odessa, that in no way represents the way Odessa truly is.....this where the lower income people live, an area like every town/city has, where some bad things happen. We are no different than any other city. You wont find a Neiman Marcus or a Macy's here bc they don't bring their stores to cities less than a certain size...but we have great shopping, entertainment and things to do. This video is a very biased/very poor example of this city where I was born and raised.....and one I am proud to call home. I would gladly supply a video that shows the real Odessa, Texas!
It’s good to see others videos of your town who don’t live there to see their idea, interpretation, criticism, misinformation, perspective, experience, misunderstanding, miscommunication misconceptions, impression, ignorance, narrative, observation, belief, feelings, thoughts, experience, point of view, naive, opinion, maybe you should read something else besides google or wikipedia
Odessa ,Odessa,Odessa, I am working and living in Odessa right now, matter of fact the RV park you pass at the beginning of the video is where i stay. not all of Odessa is bad the old parts of down town are really nice. it is dusty, it is rough and tumble, it has alot of people, but i like it here , if you head south of Odessa a few miles its wide open and beautiful if you like Desert. One thing Odessa does have is some of the best sun rIses and sun sets any where. By the way im sorm South Georgia, and i do miss Trees sometimes lol
People will always find something to complain about. Its unfortunate that i found this video after searching quite a few. I use to live in Odessa when i was younger. I went to Burleson elementary and decided to look on Google Street view to see what i could find from my childhood. Alot of good memories happened for me in that town. A few traumatic ones too. But that was down to family bullshit not the town itself. It was nice going down memory lane. I wish the above commenter all the best ! #OHS for life !

In actuality you should do a more diligent in depth research of the area you're reviewing prior to commenting. I am in agreement it is not the most beautiful place to eye. And I have traveled extensively coast to coast, both for pleasure & work. But having lived here I must say it has changed drastically in the past 10 years. I attribute this to those who have come here for one reason, a job. This I feel created a sense of a no ownership feeling. Just passing through and not my job. And speaking of jobs they are extremely well paying jobs. I know I have seen convenience store & fast food sites advertising starting pay no experience @ $18 per hr. And there are plenty of even higher paying jobs than this with a willingness to WORK, and I mean hard WORK. What other parts of the country do this? Housing agreeably is expensive. But this happens every place where jobs are high paying, i.e. silicone valley. My question to the RUclipsr, why is there such an influx of people moving to Texas from California? I'm cool with diversity and a quest to belong. So as long as they don't bring their ideologies to change the region. We have worked so hard to create a great place to raise a family. We still open the doors for ladies and address people with a proper Sir & Mam. If it weren't for Odessa and this region Gasoline would be more on the scope of $20 per gallon. It supplies 30% of the nations reserve. Perhaps next time you roll through a town stop and visit people who live and thrive there. Might cause an eye opening experience obviously your tiny team isn't accustomed to.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS It's all good if you did. I completely agree. Odessa is a wasteland you go here to make money, but kill your soul. The only good things are the sunrises and sunsets other than that there's a reason everyone's on something here.
I live here in Odessa Tx, at home not working watching a video on Odessa Tx, commenting on this video, wait a minute, what, hey, huh? Is it cause I didn’ted read, but I’m not telling the radio station, maybe the newspaper, so I can read about it
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS i would tell you but based on the fact that your wife sat there and struggled to read Odessa Ukraine wiki and neither of you caught on, I’d be wasting my time.
I went to Florida once, it was enough, I was sweating while taking a shower! Super gross Food not great, super expensive, the people are not friendly or even polite No thanks
Really?!? Tell your chick to get in Texas! I was born and raised here, hate it here, refer to it as Slodeatha but I know it's in Texas. You drove thru the worst part of town! OMG! I've lived in California, and hated it. I'll never go back there! Lived in Florida and loved it there. I'll get out of here again.
Odessa isn't where I'd want to live but it is an important part of our state economically. A better part of this region of Texas is San Angelo which is much nicer. But y'all know how vast Texas is and San Angelo is two hours away by car. To the untrained eye Odessa and the region of Texas is barren an could be seen as a 'wasteland of oil derricks' or industry but some folks really love that kind of terrain. It's not an easy place to live but it's a place that folks go to make $$$ At one time there were a lot of Welsh settlers because of the oil and other mining opportunities there and at one time the Welsh were the best miners.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS It's not for me though!! Dad and I used to go hunting for pheasant, geese, quail and prairie chicken in that region. We'd drive over from Plano in the DFW Metroplex where I grew up so I've spent some time in nature in that area and actually if you're not in Midland or Odessa but in nature there it has its charms if you know where and how to look. I haven't been there in at least 25 years but it seems not too much has changed in town at least. And I doubt y'all will see anyone driving a Prius or any electric car there! In fact I bet it's going to be hard to find a place to plug in and charge up that kind of car in that region just because of the dominant oil & gas importance over there. But hey I'm glad that y'all explored there and reported what you saw. I like y'alls videos because there's only truth and facts to what you do. No 'spin' like network or cable news. Keep doing this!!
Thank you. And i want you to know i go really hard on small texas towns on purpose because of tyler texas 😅 but we only troll a few towns per trip. I cant lie and say i like this region because i really don’t despise so much support we get out here i cant lie.. i need trees!
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I completely understand that brother! Like I said I can understand that area and I did have some good times there. Dad worked for Smith & Wesson and also was a World Champion Skeet Shooter and also an Olympian for the USA in Skeet and Trap shooting. Hey was a Regional Sales Manager and his territory for Retail Sales was all of Texas except for the Big Bend area so pretty much all of Texas for most of the time I was growing up. This also later included Law Enforcement at a local and state level. I used to travel with him by car in the summer break from school and also other holiday times off of school when he used to travel by car all over Texas to make sales calls to gun stores that sold S&W products so I had the wonderful opportunity to travel all over the Great State of Texas by car and really experience it like y'all are now. Keep it up. Seriously because Texas is a really hit place to move to now for all kinds of different reasons and opportunities. Seriously y'all really are doing well with these videos and it's true reporting of facts and showing the really good and the really bad. It's important that folks know what it's really like here. Hey if y'all ever come back to the Coastal Bend especially the Corpus Christi area let me know. We can go fishing, crabbing, maybe oyster harvesting, or do some hunting if you'd like to and it's the right time of year. Or we could leave that to the pros and just go out to great local restaurants, have a cerveza or three and enjoy the food and the views of the Gulf. It's important to show the bad parts of an area but just as important to show the good parts as well and y'all do well at that.
Jason, sadly we HAVE to trigger the locals to comment to click off the algorithm. I hate it but its not up to me. Clearly its all satire comedy and some Of our subscribers love it. I hope your stay let me know what type of content you personally like most tho
Midland and Odessa just look kinda sad. Sure you can make a good living out there, but no wildlife, no nature, few trees. Just a mixture of oil rigs, the desert, and the great plains all compacted together. Kinda makes me more happy to live in Central Florida.
I don’t like how the weather changes here so quickly, and if it ever snows or rains it doesn’t last, but the heat and dryness air, oh man that last forever
Thanks for showing the real world of that part of texas , that's a no man's land were a easy place for criminals and bad ppl can go easily 😢 I rather lived under a bridge than be on that part of texas , is crazy is a northern person showing the best of Odessa, TX, am glad u show the real thing ❤ 4 real ❤

Thanks for scouting that town out with your video tour. You probally saved me a 14 hour drive down there. A freind of mine was wanting me to go down here for a possible oil field job opportunity, but think I've changed my mind.
It’s very flat & hardly any trees - it’s basically the beginning of the Western ‘desert’ half of TX. The Eastern side of TX is much prettier imo. Surprisingly, Odessa is kinda expensive to live there
Luckily this message isn't getting out to too many folks. Keep portraying this image to outsiders who have never been here, and don't know anything about it. It works effectively as a deterrent to keep people away. "We full"
FULL? LOL.. full of what spider webs? full and your towns loaded with abandoned homes SMH. Unlike you who wishes to mislead others i speak the truth. places is outright miserable the notion your jealous over that dump of a town SMH
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS 👏🏻We drove through Texas during the summer last year and OMG....so many literal ghost towns, abandoned homes. We stopped in Midland and stayed in a rather newer hotel..the surrounding area and roads were not that great. You stayed in the more west part of town. If you were to head to the east side, it’s a lot nicer over there. It’s the newer richer part of town, and feels less ghetto.

Please stay in California where everything is super expensive and nobody can buy a home and people lack common sense. West Texas is where you can find the hardest working people, there's no excuse why somebody can't work. If people don't want to work don't come to odessa
Absolutely texas people are the hardest working folks! thats why trucks, oil rigs and 120 degree heat! Just about everything i say in this video is.. satire
Very disproportionate number of cancer cases coming out of that region... they act like it's more important to have a big truck rather than good health. They've poisoned the groundwater for hundreds of square miles, and those towns DO NOT have safe drinking water. Notice there's not a lot of healthy plant life there either.
@chorusfrog2548actually, I was born and raised there. Can confirm 3 family members have or had cancer. Know of 3 more people who have also had or have cancer. :/ many family members also had breathing or cardiac problems…

I'm happy you mentioned "reading comprehension" I need to practice raising my levels of comprehension
She’s on the Odessa Ukraine wiki page 🤦🏾♂️ y’all fit right in there
The most notable person from Odessa is Chris Kyle
Who the crap is chris kyle?
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS i would tell you but based on the fact that your wife sat there and struggled to read Odessa Ukraine wiki and neither of you caught on, I’d be wasting my time.
For a guy who says he reads, you sure are not knowledgeable.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS
Many other people but you just don't know. How about the reciever Roy Williams of the Cowboys? He lives in Odessa, I thought.
Drafted by the Detroit Lions
weather in Florida too hot and humid, terrible, you couldn’t pay me to live there
rather be ANYWHERE in Florida than in Odessa
I went to Florida once, it was enough, I was sweating while taking a shower!
Super gross
Food not great, super expensive, the people are not friendly or even polite
No thanks
Nah the worst side is west Odessa!
It's not an easy place to live but it's a place that folks go to make $$$
At one time there were a lot of Welsh settlers because of the oil and other mining opportunities there and at one time the Welsh were the best miners.
Theres no doubt this is the American dream for those willing to work fearlessly
I have more respect for someone in a work truck in on a sidewalk.
I like your videos but when you make ones like this it makes me want to unsubscribe
Jason, sadly we HAVE to trigger the locals to comment to click off the algorithm. I hate it but its not up to me. Clearly its all satire comedy and some
Of our subscribers love it. I hope your stay let me know what type of content you personally like most tho
He isn't wrong
Midland and Odessa just look kinda sad. Sure you can make a good living out there, but no wildlife, no nature, few trees. Just a mixture of oil rigs, the desert, and the great plains all compacted together. Kinda makes me more happy to live in Central Florida.
You bet! No oil rigs here. 🌴
There's wildlife outside of the city limits but they're mostly nocturnal.
Florida tends to be a hurricane magnet by the way.
All that money and no where to spend it. Is why the crime and drug rates are so high . Education is the key
Judging By Yalls Accents...I Doubt Yall Came From Somewhere Better ....lol
I don’t like how the weather changes here so quickly, and if it ever snows or rains it doesn’t last, but the heat and dryness air, oh man that last forever
Plus Odessa is nothing compared to Dallas
Tell your girlfriend she needs to know what she is reading it's not Odessa Texas
🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️this guy threatened to call the law on a dog barking at him🤣🤣🤣🤣 yea you can tell what type of guy you are
Lol I worked in Odessa way back in 1981 for Haliburton.
Your info couldn't be more wrong. There ain't a million plus people. Your talking about Russia, genius.
It obviously a spoof dude. They are f n with people
Did you get to see the Jackalope, I remember there used to be a lot of Prairie dogs and horny toads or horned frogs
Them horny toads use to scare me to death when i was little, not to mention those prickly things that are by the millions in the grass. My mom nicknamed them goatburgers !! Lol
Nobody is gonna mention a you need a 4X4 truck in interstate 20 there 😅
Or a hummer, very dangerous
I made alot of money in Odessa. I can't hate!
Alot of money varies from person to person.
Yep...I know some guys doing over time on the rigs.16k a week
S0 he'll yah it's a lot of money
I’d rather live in Odessa than any major city in Cali 100%
.....why???
nah bro its crowded as fuck here and people drive very slow
I was born in Odessa and left almost 10 yrs ago to Dallas Tx. When I go visit my family I’m ready to leave asap. I only go once or twice a year
Glad you ride down the streets making fun of people houses.
I get paid for it too
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS Good for you.
From Canada it remind’s me of Nisku, Alberta ( industrial area for. oilfield. company’s) A Little ways south of Edmonton, Alberta Canada the city is called ( The oil. Capital of Canada ) keep that oil patch going in the USA as well as Canada have a good day and trip/ Bill S. Canada
I wanna see More of canada. My trip up there was amazing
Stayed in Odessa 16 years, it's a rough place to live. Super high crime rate and it's flooded with dope.
i grew up 909 north tom green
We live like 45 minutes from Odessa Texas, we live in Garden City Texas welcome to west Texas
Cool! Were not too far from there now! Whats cool or worth seeing out here?
Found out about your good bbbq 😊
Halfmans store...not too much out here
Odessa bout to go to war...💀
I live in Odessa Texas, but try Bakersfield, California Odessa, Texas is a beautiful home you know sometimes it don’t make no sense but beautiful
I grew up in Bakersfield. Yes it’s an oilfield town as well watching this video reminds me of home. I wanted to respond when I seen someone write Bakersfield I thought YEP!
I remember when we used to have K-Mart, two malls, Gibson, Albertsons, Sears
Thanks for scouting that town out with your video tour. You probally saved me a 14 hour drive down there. A freind of mine was wanting me to go down here for a possible oil field job opportunity, but think I've changed my mind.
The place is hideous you would feel like living on mars. I did a video driving thru nearby midland as well.. another eye sour of a town.
It’s very flat & hardly any trees - it’s basically the beginning of the Western ‘desert’ half of TX. The Eastern side of TX is much prettier imo. Surprisingly, Odessa is kinda expensive to live there
Pays the best in the state.
Over 100 bars
500 places to eat
Huge movie theater
University of Texas
2.89 gas
Any city outside the triangle is awful except Corpus Christi
Sadly thats really what texas is about
Luckily this message isn't getting out to too many folks.
While not a fan of the city, I couldnt imagine living in Odessa or Midland
seriously
@@rojgorritxa1082it’s called an oil field for a damn reason 😂 shit ain’t pretty out here
We used to have Luby’s, Grandys, and Furrs, and Furrs Cafeteria
It’s a place that allows people that complain about Odessa, to do the things the love to do
We used to have Stop n’ Go, then 7-Eleven took over, now it’s DK
inform obout the town and country you are actually in, its odessa tx, not odessa russia
I am pretty sure we were in russia
Imagine if you saw someone saying this about your city. How would you live? I'm not even from Odessa btw.
It's like a dystopian prequel to Mad Max.
You stayed in the more west part of town. If you were to head to the east side, it’s a lot nicer over there. It’s the newer richer part of town, and feels less ghetto.
I guess I am a big moron to watch a video of someone driving through my town. .Thanks
I readed when I was in school, I still read now, comics, and it hasn’t changed things, for some advice on being educated you didn’t specify what to read, just reading doesn’t change things
You called my apartment complex the projects lmfao that’s crazy
No doubt 😂
Please stay in California where everything is super expensive and nobody can buy a home and people lack common sense. West Texas is where you can find the hardest working people, there's no excuse why somebody can't work. If people don't want to work don't come to odessa
Yes it is dirty and gross to look at but some of the most amazing people I have ever met has lived there
You literally went to the worst side of town 😂🤣
You’re rude lol
I regret growing up there but it’s home 😅
Just dust around here no trees
Odessa Texas does suck i left long time ago
Get off the soap box dude
👋 goodbye
Don't hate on my City
Lol south Odessa is the worst side but you passed my neighborhood!! I saw my grandmas home and my childhood home
Shit the south it’s where it’s at
Honestly I’d like see these ppl stop on Snyder st and talk all this noise
10:05 that is not true at all in fact the opposite
Absolutely texas people are the hardest working folks! thats why trucks, oil rigs and 120 degree heat! Just about everything i say in this video is.. satire
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS oh ok
Not bro screaming at the squirrels 😂🤣
It happens.
Texas has the nicest places and you have to show the shit!!!!!WHY

saying the truth about places even if it hurts the feelings of people like yourself
So what books do you think I should read, what do you recommend
We had Sam Goody, Musicland, Hastings, Circuit City and Radio Shack and Staples
These two are the slobbering ones! They sure sound like it right??? It would be a total nightmare to live with someone that talks gibberish nonstop!!!
Please tell me this was a video for laughing
You never been to Odessa? Its in Ukraine

We also used to have On the Border restaurant once
Very disproportionate number of cancer cases coming out of that region... they act like it's more important to have a big truck rather than good health. They've poisoned the groundwater for hundreds of square miles, and those towns DO NOT have safe drinking water. Notice there's not a lot of healthy plant life there either.
@chorusfrog2548actually, I was born and raised there. Can confirm 3 family members have or had cancer. Know of 3 more people who have also had or have cancer. :/ many family members also had breathing or cardiac problems…
