    I've been thinking about a quilt to hang in my foyer. I'll make it big enough to use the back as a design wall. When I need it, I'll flip the front to the back and -- voila! Thank you!

    I just noticed your chick binding. Love it. I love chickens. I have a big picture of a rooster from Hobby Lobby hanging in my dining room. That's where my design wall will be because I live in an apartment. Thank you for the tip about the hooks and clips.

    My design wall is mvp. I’m grateful that I can sew in a large dedicated space and keep my mess sequestered. I have 8’ x 8 wall from pink insulation panels. I would be lost without it. I now baste on it now which makes life easier. Love your wall. I think the gourmet quilter has similar. Hope you continue to recover

    Hi Di. Just finished my design wall quilt yesterday. I went to my stash for fabric. That solid I thought I would do a backing. And that," what was I thinking" wild fabric made a perfect binding! My quilting room is my guest bedroom so I like something that can be packed away quick and easy.

  • @debbie6376

    Thanks for your great videos! Love your creativity & unpretentious manner. Here's a backing idea: Inexpensive king size flat sheet. Currently Walmart has 300 thread count Mainstays king flat for $20.84 US online. It measures 108 x 102 inches. That works out to $2.45 per yard. The Math (I think I got it right): 108x102=11026 square inches. 1 square yard is 1296 (36x36) inches. 11016 divided by 1296 = 8.5 square yards. $20.84 divided by 8.5 = $2.45. Might find actual fabric cheaper, but this is my go-to when I don't need quilting cotton quality fabric for a backing, such as a wall quilt where it won't be seen, and rarely washed, if at all (vacuumed instead). Maybe you have one you can use, or find thrifted for even less $.

    • @sisterchicksquilting
      @sisterchicksquilting  Год назад

      That’s a great idea Debbie I’ve quilted quilts with king-size flat sheets used as the backings before, though I’ve never thought of the idea for the backing of my design wall quilt. When it wears out, I’ll have to remember that. Thank you for watching my channel. I appreciate it.❤️😊😍🐥

      @@sisterchicksquilting I just remembered I had some packages of poly batting someone had given me. There is an 81x96 package. So excited! :) I just came across your RUclips channel today!

      Awesome! Welcome aboard and keep your hands and feet inside your screen at all times. I’ve been told I’m a wild driver/quilter🤣
      Thanks for watching my videos ❣️

    Would love to know how to make the scrappy quilt behind you.

      If you’re talking about the Scrappy Trip Around The World that is at the end of the video, look for a video 3 weeks ago on my channel called Scrappy Trip Around The World. It’s a two party video and each part linked to the other in the description.
      If you’re talking about the small wall quilt that’s aqua, yellow and red with a Chick in the middle, I haven’t put out directions yet. That’s my logo quilt I’ve designed.
      When I get some extra time, 😂, I’ll get that pattern out.
      Thank you for watching, I appreciate you

      It's from Windham, the line is called backyard blooms. I bet you can findit on Etsy. Thanks for watching.

    Di, I love your channel! You are amazing. I was wondering if you would mind pinning the links to the batting and backing details? TIA

    • @sisterchicksquilting
      @sisterchicksquilting  2 года назад +2

      I really don’t have any links. I bought the batting at Joannes with a 40% coupon. The backing is a low cost poly cotton blend that again I got on sale at Joannes. Anything will work for the backing, for instance a large flat sheet would be great.
      I hope this helps and thank you for watching my channel. 😊

      @@sisterchicksquilting Thank you so very much! I want you to know you are teaching me to "sew & quilt". Bought my 1st machine in May and have been too intimated to use it...BUT you are building my confidence! Do you have an embroidery machine also and if so, what is it?

    Brilliant design wall idea! Thank you for sharing your tips and how to make it. Your quilts are lovely. Please be careful with this version of covid. You sound a bit short of breath and a bit “tight”(old RN). You may need to slow down a bit.

      Your comment made The Engineer smile, he’s been telling me to slow down our entire marriage😉 Thank you for your advice, I am taking it easy and it’s driving me crazy. This is our first and only bout with Covid, we feel lucky.
      Thank you for watching my video, I appreciate you❣️

      Yes, I finally figured out my problem. So happy about that because now I can hear every video that you make. I might become a quilter one day. Just watching so far. Thanks.
