During these hectic, often stressful days I welcome the respite your videos provide. Thank you for the 'escape' via your tutorials. I do have a few quick questions. Do you find there's a big difference between regular Mod Podge and the Duracoat? Second, if you tried regular Mod Podge was it worthwhile or an obvious fail? (Somehow I have 2 gallons of regular Mod Podge. Isn't it amazing the items we find when we move?)
faye austin Thanks! Glad you enjoy it! 😊😊 I use hard coat because my very first experience making a cup, the glitter layers never seemed to get firm. It may have been process or not letting it dry ample time, but I tried the hard coat mod podge and love it. Many people use the regular mod podge though, so it’s perfectly fine to do that. You would want to make sure you give ample dry time. 😊
Minderella1225 .... Thx for the quick and informative reply. Rather than risk a mishap I will go with your preferred choice. I will be making Christmas gifts and of course time (and expense), are considerations. (I am not doing the same as you. I ran across a box of stainless steel coffee cups, much smaller so hopefully a bit faster.) I will devise other projects for the gallons of regular Mod Podge I recently discovered. Again, I love your creations and your style tutorial.
Holy crap I learned so so much tonight watching this. Of course after I just my cup and didn't brush off extra glitter... even though I thought I should. It looks like a glitter factory explosion in my kitchen
First time watching your videos and I’d have to say I love watching each one. You explain everything very well. I have been wanting to make these for some time now.
You know you can also I made some vases you could also spray hairspray on them too instead of The mod podge my granddaughter I told her to what she did I made the base with white paint and you mix it with baking soda and it makes it look like it's Rocky and then spray it with the hairspray
It should be removed immediately after applying your last layer. Pull the tape back and kind of cut that edge line. Pull straight back, not up and all.
Before epoxy I don’t like the ya I have my cup and I did the mod podge method as well but I never epoxy it yet and it’s still wet how do I get the glitter off do I just wash it with soap and hot water while it’s still wet
Great channel and video Hey I have a question for you, I have been purchasing The Todd McFarlane figures and I have the figures on s shelf but in close proximity to each other and noticed that the colors of the figures are rubbing off of each other…. Can the modge podge spray help prevent that from happening again for future figures? Thank you in advance Ps great song!!!❤
Hi! Thank you! I haven’t worked with figurines but I would think that it would work to seal them. Any kind of sealer would work. A spray sealer like rustoleum 2x or polycrylic. I found this page that goes over sealing figurines. Maybe it will help you more. 😊 creativetwilight.com/seal-painted-miniatures/
Is your mod podge too think causing it to clump? You should always dry brush once it’s dry to remove the excess glitter before applying your next coat.
You really shouldn't be having missing spots on a second coat. If you are, your mod podge is likely drying too fast on the first and second coat. You could try to do a third coat, but I think only once during the time I used mod podge did I need to do a 3rd coat. Also base painting your tumbler will help cover the stainless to allow for a better coverage.
I’m new to using mod podge, I’m trying to re-glitter some of my Christmas ornaments from last year to change their glitter color rather than buying new ones. Do you think it’ll work? Would I have to somehow remove the current glitter they have on now before using the mod podge and new glitter? I honestly don’t know if it’s going to be worth the hassle but I’m willing to try it lol
@@illmaticz_69 I would say you’d probably need two coats of mod podge and then glitter in order to cover the other color depending on the difference between what’s there and what you are changing it to. Is it the outside or inside of a round ornament you are doing?
I’m learning how to mod podge over vinyl on to a plastic Starbucks cups. I’m having trouble with the mod podge clumping between layers. I like how you applied it with your finger. It has me thinking if I do it this way would it be enough for just one layer? Should I use more like this video or wait longer than a hour?
I don't mix my mod podge. I apply my mod and then apply glitter over it. I keep applying it until there is no mod podge showing and the glitter isn't laying completely flat against it. I let it dry and then dry brush excess off. I don't apply mod podge on top of my glitter.

Love this. Very simple and thorough. I am going to glitter, epoxy and put vinyl on a cup. When do I apply the vinyl? After the glitter? After the first coat of epoxy? I can't find the order of things! Thanks!
Hi Elaine...I go through most of my steps in my start to finish video. ruclips.net/video/MElvr9sqc-E/видео.html The order is Mod Podge/Glitter, Mod Podge/Glitter, Epoxy 1st coat, sand if needed, apply vinyl, epoxy 2nd coat. You may or may not need another coat of epoxy after the first or last.
How do I go about applying epoxy to seal the cup afterwards? Do I add more tape to keep it only over the glitter or do you just epoxy the entire outside of the cup?
I go over that in this video. ruclips.net/video/guLOPzxSSFA/видео.html You will want to tape again just outside the glitter and then epoxy. Pull your tape when it’s tacky and won’t run, but not cured yet. 30 minutes to an hour. 😊
Kawon Arnold You could probably use a fabric adhesive with loose glitter. I’ve seen that done on shoes but I’m not sure of a mod podge that would work unless dishwasher safe or if they have a fabric one.
Hi hope you are well I am not i am so upset cos straight after washing my finished tumbler it went dull no shine can I save it? What went wrong pls help😫😩😫 what do you sand yours with? When do I sand it iv orderd you epoxy I thought I mixed it well this is to hard.
I’m not sure what you mean. You had epoxies your tumbler and when you washed off the epoxy it went full? Or you sanded it and that made it dull? Sanding will dull it and you’ll need another coat of epoxy to bring back the shine. I use 400grit wet/dry sand paper and sand with the water running. I have a sanding video here on my channel. Your epoxy should be clear when applied or you’re not mixing enough. I have an epoxy mixing video that goes over the process. 😊

Not after it dries. If I’ve had imperfections I will take a knife and scrape off the uneven part (not completely, just scratch it until it’s even). Then I add a new mod podge and glitter layer.
Hi new to ur Chanelle I had one question did u wait for it to dry before adding second coat of modge poge and as well loved the look of the cup. Im starting and the opoxy is so expensive so I'm glad we can use something more affordable thanm you for sharing.
Yes, always let your mod podge dry completely prior to adding another coat. At least an hour...I use hard coat which dries hard so I know it will be good and hard before next coat.
For this video I was only showing how to apply the glitter with the mod podge method where I use a glove to apply it. Once it dried I applied epoxy to the glitter to seal it in completely. :)

Thank you for your video very helpful! I am planning to use the dishwasher safe modge podge. Do you apply a final coat of MP to the tumbler to fully seal?
Mod podge and epoxy can be used as adhesive. I typically only use epoxy to clear coat my tumblers to finish them off. You can seal with mod podge but you don’t get the sparkle.
Good evening your videos are awesome!!! What do you recommend for those without the rotisserie motor to do as far as drying the epoxy so there are no drips on it? Thank you
Nope! Your mod podge is under it not on top of it so the glitter is as it is when applied. You seal in epoxy once it’s completely dry so it’s clear as glass when done.
@@danam.6883 thats what i do she is using the wrong mod podge she needs the orange glue mod podge the one she has in purple is one for sealing and very similar to epoxy but it takes more than one coat on top of glitter
If you don't seal it, your glitter will come off in your hand. Some people do mod podge on top or dishwasher safe mod podge on top. It works...but it doesn't have the smooth glass finish like you get with epoxy.
Thank you for this video it was extremely helpful! I do have a question what do you suggest to do if when you pull off the tape your line is a little uneven? Is there a way to fix that? TIA!
It depends...if it's sticking above the tape line you can use an exacto and cut any excess off. If it pulls off glitter and there is now a spot missing glitter, it's a bit more difficult. When that happened to me once I just used an exacto and trimmed the entire line down a hair so it would match.
Thank you so much that makes perfect since and thank you for responding! Good to know I was intimidated by doing this but your video has inspired and helped me so much!
So you mix take paint white paint put it in a bowl mix it with some baking soda till it's like spaghetti I mean like a pancake batter put it all over let it dry that's right with hairspray
randylovessandy If it hasn’t been 24 hours, give it 24 hours. If it has it generally means the epoxy wasn’t mixed well enough or long enough or the temperature affected it or there was moisture in it. If you’ve waited long enough and it’s not curing, add another coat with the appropriate mixing and temp.
Most use the term interchangeably. Epoxy art and resin art. Here’s an in general description of difference, but I use them when discussing interchangeably. epoxycountertopdiy.com/epoxy-vs-resin-the-difference-explained/
You don't have to, but since I don't base coat any of mine except white or light glitters, I generally do two coats to ensure the stainless steel isn't showing through.

Does your Mod Podge ever dry before you finish spreading it. What do you do if it does?
You have to move quick with mod podge. It’s better to apply too much and wipe off excess than not have enough and have areas dry.
Love this!! I have a question, I’m still new to all this. What’s the difference between epoxy & modge podge hard clay & modge podge dishwasher safe ??
Mod podge and epoxy can be used as adhesive. I typically only use epoxy to clear coat my tumblers to finish them off. You can seal with mod podge but you don’t get the sparkle.
Minderella Creations okay makes sense thank you!!
Do you let it dry & apply epoxy?
Yes. I let it dry for about 24 hours before epoxy.
Good evening your videos are awesome!!! What do you recommend for those without the rotisserie motor to do as far as drying the epoxy so there are no drips on it? Thank you
Adela Gutierrez Thanks! Check out my other videos. I have several on hand turners and the process for turning them on a manual turner.
You've really become one with the mod podge.
😂😂😂
Is the glitter foggy once it dries ?
Nope! Your mod podge is under it not on top of it so the glitter is as it is when applied. You seal in epoxy once it’s completely dry so it’s clear as glass when done.
Do you apply epoxy after you’re done with your last coat of glitter?
Kandra’s DIY KREATIONS Yes. I generally let it dry overnight and then apply epoxy.
Minderella1225 ok thank you :)
Can you seal glitter with mod Podge before Epoxy?
@@danam.6883 thats what i do she is using the wrong mod podge she needs the orange glue mod podge the one she has in purple is one for sealing and very similar to epoxy but it takes more than one coat on top of glitter
What do use in the cup so you can spin to apply your glitter
I use a foam football on a pvc pipe.
What happens if mod podge gets on your finger? And is it toxic?
Mod podge isn’t toxic. You can just wash it off.
@@MinderellaCreations thank you!!
How long did you wait between coats?
Wait until the first is completely dry to the touch. 1-2 hours. I typically wait overnight.
What can you do if you get glitter inside the cup
Ariana Salinas wash it out. 😊
Do you have to seal this ?
I only deal if I have intricate designs or chunky glitter.
have you tried this on plastic double wall tumblers? what brand tape are you using?
cutflower I have done a blender bottle, but not a double walled plastic one. It’s electrical tape off Amazon.
Minderella1225 oh I as wondering if it would work on plastic. Thanks
Can you just do a tumbler with mod podge and glitter and do not apply epoxy? Or is the epoxy a must?
If you don't seal it, your glitter will come off in your hand. Some people do mod podge on top or dishwasher safe mod podge on top. It works...but it doesn't have the smooth glass finish like you get with epoxy.
@@MinderellaCreations which one of the mod podge is the dishwasher safe one?
Also do you have an instagram?
@@tiannasargeant2479 It's the one that is called "Dishwasher Safe Mod podge"...it's the actual kind. They are not all dishwasher safe.
@@tiannasargeant2479 @Minderella1225 is my Instagram (It's also linked in my cover photo)
You have to do it before the mod podge/epoxy sets up though. You won't be able to do it after the fact.
Thank you so much that makes perfect since and thank you for responding! Good to know I was intimidated by doing this but your video has inspired and helped me so much!
Is it hard to reapply the tape to the top and bottom before you epoxy?
Erica King Nope! You just follow your line, leaving a little space between.
So you mix take paint white paint put it in a bowl mix it with some baking soda till it's like spaghetti I mean like a pancake batter put it all over let it dry that's right with hairspray
Did you seal this with mod podge or epoxy ?
After I did the last coat I let it dry completely and then sealed in epoxy.
@@MinderellaCreations thank you. It’s very pretty.
Do you do anything different when using the regular mod podge vs the hard coat mod podge?
No, I don't...I generally use hard coat, but I Know people that use them all. :)
How do you seal the glitter? Will it wash off with just the mod podge?
cleobella13 I seal with Epoxy.
Minderella1225 ok thanks
Subbed when I heard my song😂🤣!!! Great video and information 😊 thanks.
Is epoxy necessary??? Is just mod podge and sealant okay??
Mod podge doesn’t give you the shine and sparkle and I’m not 100% positive it’s FDA compliant.
Minderella1225 What do you do if the epoxy is tacky feeling?
randylovessandy If it hasn’t been 24 hours, give it 24 hours. If it has it generally means the epoxy wasn’t mixed well enough or long enough or the temperature affected it or there was moisture in it. If you’ve waited long enough and it’s not curing, add another coat with the appropriate mixing and temp.
Thank you very much! I'm doing my first one and I have never worked with epoxy before!
What kind of tape do you use to maintain your lines?
Electrical tape is my favorite tape to use for taping off my cups. I've also used the hockey tape. It's a little stiffer but has the same give.
What’s the difference between epoxy and resin?
Most use the term interchangeably. Epoxy art and resin art. Here’s an in general description of difference, but I use them when discussing interchangeably. epoxycountertopdiy.com/epoxy-vs-resin-the-difference-explained/
Does anyone know from the uk where to buy at reasonable price to buy more than 1 similar tumblers like minderellas. TIA
Ladymandi69 xx I know some will ship to UK but it’s expensive. The stainless depot is where I get my cups.
Where do you get your glitter? Name of product?
ruclips.net/video/WksL6r6O098/видео.html All listed here.
I'm new at this do we have to use epoxy or can we do without and use mod podge!
It looks best with epoxy.
What kind of tape is that? Because I’ve tried this method with painters tape and my lines still aren’t nice and crisp
Kandra’s DIY KREATIONS electrical tape
Hold on, don’t you need a mod podge coat to seal the glitter in??????
No. It’s not necessary and actually dulls the glitter a bit. If I need to seal anything I use a clear gloss spray sealer.
Can you use this glitter on glass?
Ivana McCrary Yep. I have a tutorial for that.
You seem so sweet you have a really sweet calm voice 💜
🥰❤️
What do you do after that? Do you use epoxy or more mod podge
I use epoxy to seal, then add decal and use epoxy again to seal.
Can you use mod podge gloss as well?
Any mod podge should work fine.
What was your drying time inbetween
A locticians Canvas 30 minutes to an hour.
Do you have to do 2 coats of glitter?
You don't have to, but since I don't base coat any of mine except white or light glitters, I generally do two coats to ensure the stainless steel isn't showing through.
Great video. Do you have to seal it at the end with something?
Yes, I deal with epoxy.
Is there another way to seal it at the end?
Wondering if you still epoxy at the end ?
Samantha Mason I Epoxy all my cups. I tape just outside my glitter line.
How long do u wait to put second coat of mod podge
Usually wait at least 1 hour. Sometimes overnight.
Thnxs
i'm doing something so wrong i don't get it why
Keep practicing. It takes time to get the process for some.
Do i have to use hard coat mod podge or can i use regular mod podge?
Andrea Pitre I think I replied to a comment on another video. Type doesn’t matter
