- Spotify is quietly moving its lyrics feature behind a paywall to get free subscribers to move to a paid tier. Will people be motivated to pay a monthly fee to get access to lyrics which they can search online for free? Time will tell. What this does tell us is Spotify is trying to entice users to pay for the products that differentiate them from Apple Music. With largely the same music catalog, Spotify coaxes users to their platform through features like exclusive podcasts, audiobooks, the Spotify Wrapped, and now access to lyrics.

Yes, the developers are basically milking the money out of us by making LYRICS a premium-only feature! I ain't gonna use Spotify anymore unless if I had a chance to get premium!
I am a curator on musixmatch (where Spotify gets lyrics, and the website itself is free to use) and I hate that Spotify is locking out lyrics behind a paywall!
They make Spotify lyrics premium, people will quit spotify and the downfall of Spotify will begin.
Amen to that, I hope Spotify fell off in like 5 years, hopefully some better app is able to replace Spotify

Lyrics are an accessibility feature for people with auditory processing disorders, Spotify just paywalled subtitles for disabled people essentially.

I mean youtube is still somewhat bad tbh you can’t even turn off your phone and listen or else it will pause because you also have to pay a subscription which is just stupid I can even turn off my phone and listen to music I have to keep it on and it’s so annoying so tbh they’re both hatbage

yes there is!
your going to need to install 2 things
first Spicetify
then Lyrics-Plus
you will have to use the terminal to install them, however It's really just a case of copying and pasting.

and then you notice that you can make playlists with lyric videos on yt for free and you get less ads (and not always the same 3 ones)

Switch to RUclips Music. There is a plan for students and it's amazing. I have been using it for a few years now.
