- The Old Southern Funeral Home was built in 1954, and it sits in a town that is haunted in its own right. OSFH was originally called The Woodall Funeral Home an was sold in 1955, when it became Nowell Funeral Home. For sixty-fours years, Old Southern Funeral Home has seen over 4,200 bodies in and out of its doors until it closed for good in 2017. The staff of the funeral home have experienced many things while working there. Disembodied voices, dark shadows, and a dark, eerie presence are some of the things that some have experienced to this day.
For those asking about the power, you always keep the power and HVAC running to keep the moisture and temperature at an acceptable level. Besides water damage, nothing makes a building go to seed faster than shutting everything down.
Fyi I once had a spirit come home with me. I felt it. I had to send it on. It didn't hurt me. It seemed to know what I was and my abilities. It just needed help. It was male. They were confused. I was glad to help. Of course most funeral homes have spirits. Lot souls have passed through, some don't know they are deceased. Most just need help. Would I want spend the night in one no. I see enough. Souls need to move on. They don't need to be stuck here.✌🙏🦋🌠🌻🌷✨💫 .nj.
You didn't sage yourself before and after that's why it followed you home
It’s fascinating. I worked with funeral homes during my days in college. Never encountered any kind of spirits in the funeral home itself. Most of the reports I have of anything supernatural were either where the patient lived at the time of death, or sometimes at the scene of a death; especially a violent one, but almost everyone I know in the business says they have never experienced anything at a funeral home. Most funeral directors I’ve known and worked with report not seeing or hearing any kind of spirit in the funeral home itself. I find your experience here fascinating as it is really different from my experience being associated with funeral homes. Most spirits according to what I’ve heard tend to be present at places they either lived or places where the death actually occurred. The two plots I’m familiar with for big bodies. They won’t fit in traditional hearse and have to make special arrangements for transport. Sometimes people will bury one corpse on top of a previous person, but that’s rare and requires a landscape without a low water table. I still am intrigued by your report, as it’s not one I’ve encountered through over fifty years of association with funeral homes. Would be interesting to see how broadly my experience matches that of others who have worked in funeral homes and had close relationships with others who have worked in the funeral business. Worth further exploration and would love to know of other instances as very different from my experience and that of most people I’ve known in the business.
I love funeral homes I'm mortician I love it
I bet you love smelling the dead people
sniffing and everything 😂
So what they smelled like 😆
Do you look at their private parts and butt holes?😂
You know what I'm mad at you. I went to Gulf & Jones mortician school here in Georgia had an accident injuring my back had three surgery that ended my dream. 😔😔
But I have confidence in you that you're doing your best with the bodies for that one last time giving the best look they ever had with love and care thank you
Like the cold meat ?

The walls absorbed all the sad emotions.
When I see businesses closed and empty buildings makes me sad.
I am from here. This place was originally Nowell Funeral Home.
Really? Are u a ghost? 🤣
Awsome video. It’s crazy to see that elmbalming room with everything left inside and the power still on!! Bandos with power are always something special.
Great video.
You need to wear gloves and a mask around them needles and chemicals. My lord thats dangerous.
My sentiments exactly... That's exactly what I was thinking
Me yelling at the phone Don't touch it!!!made my pressure go up
I remember. my mom saying the coffin display room was upstairs when they had to choose for a casket. She said those stairs were hard for her to climb because her knees.
Take Care , thanks ❤
It makes sense that the strongest activity was in the Chapel, that’s wet the morning and grief occurred .
I know it was in operation in 2016 because it was Culpepper Funeral Home. My late Uncle was friends with Terry Culpepper. In fact, when my grandmother died one of the funerial home employees went to pick her up and got upset because didn't know that he was about to pick up someone that he knew.
Gruesome but fascinating. Here in the UK we refer to caskets as coffins and funeral homes as under takers. Our coffins are much smaller and simpler.
I didn't know that! I have heard the word coffin on spooky movies, but now I really don't think it makes any difference anymore. Casket and coffin do the same thing, they are pretty much the same thing.
Its clean for being shut down five years. Its nice.upstairs needs help.
Did anyone notice the lighted candle sitting on the casket !
I love this video! Kosciusko is my hometown. U should do a video at the Tipton bobcat highschool. I’ve always wanted to know what the inside of it looked like bc my mom went school there. Also look into the Laura v kelly Story as well, her house was beautiful & said to be haunted.
I have a question, why is this funeral home which is just up the road from me, such a mess??
I know it is probably creepy but my Mama said sometimes a person would be sent to a funeral home even when they weren’t dead yet. But had to be in “death chatters” and the family would sit with the loved one until the soul passed. This is one reason why you are getting voices and unhappy voices. As you stated families lived here and died of sicknesses of working with the dead sick body. How so very sad. I did the makeup and hair of my Dear Mama. I seen the color of her before body before making her natural and we’re still embalming when I got there. I learned a lot about bodies and the desairologist made me feel at ease. We mostly talked about babies or children that they have to dress and she explained it’s the hardest part of her job. She said she held the family by going shopping picking out a sweet little dress or a cute suit for the child. My Mama had quite a lot of holes in her face because of facial swelling digging into her face. She and I used putty and my Mama own makeup to make her look perfect. I sprayed her with her favorite perfume put it in her pocket. The reason I’m telling you this is to try to explain the voices and the families you might hear in there. I’m used to funeral homes because a schoolmate friend’s dad was a Funeral director and we even seen them working on the deceased. They lived upstairs as well. I would have loved to have gone with you to investigate there. Peace and much respect.
Please excuse my misspelled words. My phone won’t let me edit them🤷♀️🤦♀️
Your mama lied to you.
@@lucyfox8298 Well when you are super poor and back then when their were no hearses around this is how they did things. How rude to say some one had lied. Did you know her? No. This was after they used to wash dress and sit up with the dead all night long.
@@shawndaheisser3585 I remember those days when I was a little girl they sure did sit-up all night they also brought bodies home. I their that person sit here and say Your mother lied. Huh
What do you mean by "death chatters" and "until the soup passed"? I'm sorry, but I have never heard that before.
A former schoolmate of mine is now a mortician and took over his grandfather's funeral home business. He tells me those double sized caskets are a special order and have to be paid for before ordering and there's no refund if the family decides against it.
I believe the city/county is making a lot of money off of this facility via various tours because in EVERY state in the U.S.A you MUST surrender ALL various gauge needles etc. to the State Department/County of Health. With a little bit of tweaking here and there the facility would still be able to function as a funeral home. Thanks for the video & post.
Still in good condition.Surprised it hasn’t been vandalised.
My guess is if they are giving tours (which another commenter eluded to in their comment) then they probably watch the place with cameras and people probably check on it periodically. It's the places that nobody watches over that tends to get trashed.
Can’t understand why syringes are left and why is the power still on
And the vehicle is a HEARSE NOT A HEARST!
😂
ikr 😡 😆
OMG people calling it a hurst is such a pet peeve
@@gentlecaringviolence No it’s just correct English and what the vehicle is called
Now alot of homes pick up in mini vans.
Why is everything STAGED in this video????
Some rooms gave me the creep .Why is there balloons if this place was closed or its part of the investigation
?👻
@@sunflower-vv6fm 🙈🙉🙈🙉
Just remember it's a funeral home where most people will finally go and beside the dead can't do you no harm
Relax
@@tanyabobis5227I am an empath and i do sense energies in people ,places etc .
Dead people wont hurt you its the live ones
That's what my mama thought me
not so sure about that, there are mean ghosts that will not go on, think they are alive still, especially murdered, and seial killer's are still the same!
Are others investigating there as well? Are all those tripods and cameras yours?
Yes, there were 4 other people with me but the camera's are mine
Ah, the tools of the quiet trade
They Give Me The Creepy Cteaps To Your Not alone
This is in my town, Kosciusko.
This is where Jimmy Jameson from the band Survivor was embalmed and service held.
Why is the power still on in that building?
Did anyone hear that at 09:27/09:28? Someone whispered something. I couldn't understand but it sounded like one or two words in a grumble
Dude put on some gloves 😯
yes 🤮
I hope you enjoyed it Thanks to my dad Donald Martin
That precious moments angel in the coffin 🥺
Interesting
Can I get your permission to use this in a backing video? Cheers.
Yes, that's fine
Why is the electric still on if it closed years ago? Flowers still alive ect...
The flowers are artificial.
Where are your Gloves??
How did a spirit know your name. I'm subscribed and don't know your name.
Why is everything left there I wonder
Try doing the electrical in one of those places you guys are there for what maybe two nights be there for about a month month and a half yeah you just don't hear stuff you see stuff and people that have never seen a ghost or excuse me a spirit you just don't know you ain't got a clue you these people that go why waste of money to do it cuz there's no such thing well like I said if you've ever seen one they're life-changing and I've seen one actually I've seen two one when I was a kid and the other one when I was electrician and I worked in a mortuary it's just man in a suit it's all it was wasn't nobody gory or or you know it wasn't Joan of Arc or any of that it was just a man in a suit and the first one believe it or not it was a green mist is in a doorway seen it playing his day and I wasn't the only one like I said if you never seen one you just don't understand
you are so right!!! I know! I tell people you just have not experienced anything yet, then when it happens, you understand! do not worry about the unbelievers! lived in my grandmothers house for awhile, had so much activity going on all the time, moved out! and now live in my parents home, the same, lots of activity alot, but have a huge dog and a picnic boyfriend that sees them and talks to them, I am terrified
They would drain all the body fluids in urinal and then it would go through cleaning at water company then you would drank clean tap water after cleaning water for drinking
what we drink that water after is clean
@@linagjidoda2193 he's saying that the blood and body fluid goes down into that urinal, gets flushed, then goes into the sewers and in the water treatment plants
I prefer a milkshake myself...
The same goes for our bathrooms all goes to the water treatment center and that's the water we drink
Is it closed down?
...cool i was dead there...
What's going to happen to it now?. Nj.
They still use it for paranormal research. You can look them up on FB and schedule paranormal investigations there
I bet you Ghosts running around in there every night. So scary
Where’s the freezer
Is this place still in business?
No, but they do use it as a paranormal research center and you can book private overnight paranormal investigations there.
Nobody died here though?
That's cruel why did you put that doll in that baby casket.
What do you mean "we".... will be investigating...
From 1951 to 2016 that's not so old lol
So u breaking into places huh
Sure you did...
I have a special gift. I would love to go on something with you
The big long metal rods does the call a trocar and I wouldn't touch any of that equipment to save my life I'm sorry I don't know if they got shut down because they were a pretty nasty dirty place and that's why a lot of them do get shut down it's because they're filthy they don't clean their equipment or anything like that and that equipment kind of looks dirty so I wouldn't touch none of that like I said to save my life little less that's just creepy and another reason why I wouldn't touch none of that stuff you don't know what the last body it was put into could have been some of that you know that was just brought from the hospital or a nursing home to there or could have been somebody that they found putrifying for a week and a half in their house so yeah I wouldn't touch none of that stuff oh my God stuff gives me the chills
The reason it's dirty is because the place has been closed since 2017 and they do ghost hunts that's why all the cameras and possibly the owner stages the props for them and that's why the electricity is on the owner probably charges a fee for each group that comes in
I bet theres alot of paranormal going on in there
No such thing
Is anyone in size of we're and my mane is vivian and my age is 65
Huh???
Why so much exploitation of funeral homes? Is it because of the curiosity as to the goings-on?
Why does everyone think that a funeral home is so scary?? 😂 Trust me, it's not. It's the living 🤡 you really have to worry about hurting you, not the dead. 💀 I think that as Americans, we have hid the process of death and dying so much that it's become a 'mystery' to us, and since most don't know what happens we are terrified of it. It's nothing to fear and I think that if more of us tool care of our own - we would have better coping skills.
Scary place to be. Ewwwwwwe!!!
Run!!!!!!
Little bit of advice you should stop calling them coffins. Those are caskets. I don't think there was a single coffin at that funeral home. Those haven't been prevalence since the mid 1800s. Caskets have six sides and they're wider at the top, think of like dracula. The caskets have four sides and they're just rectangular. Might sound like a nitpick, but if you're going to funeral homes and talking about what's inside, you should be well versed in the terminology 😉
I own a 6 sided coffin. It's black . I turned the inside of it into a bar . I have it standing upright against a wall.
In Australia we call them coffins
This is Oprah Winfrey's birthplace.
Yes, it sure is
That double wide casket is just waiting for Oprah's big ass . 😜
Hearse not Hurst.
lol
Ghost hunting for ghost not good idea ,read the bible youll find the answers
This place is a dump, you couldn’t pay me to walk into it.
This looks staged
You will answer to God for lying to people. Once we die we either go to heaven if we repented of our sins and accepted Jesus's free gift of salvation or we go to hell if we rejected Jesus. No other option.
You kept touching stuff! You shouldn't do it because it's not sterilized. And kind of creepy.
