    The part that really kills me is that even after the fact that she blows them all away you can still see in her response to each "yes" that she was shocked and so overcome that they liked her and actually wanted her. She knew damn well she was amazing. But she also knew that the world is cruel and that talent is not everything. She still thought she had just as likely a shot at being X'd. And that breaks my heart. That is a woman who is used to being judged by everything but her heart.

    • @sophiemuirhead4000
      @sophiemuirhead4000 8 лет назад +8

      +Brian N of course they fucking are. I know her, and believe me, she has NOT had professional help to sing like that.
      "Can a baby sing like that?".. i think you're the idiot, here. Being "born like that" or "born with an ability to do something" it means you're just naturally good at it.

    • @briann5524
      @briann5524 8 лет назад

      Sophie Muirhead " it means you're just naturally good at it." and what does THAT mean? Think hard for a second. At what age then if not a baby does the person get naturally good at something? 2, 3 years old? Does her voice suddenly snap and sound like this powerful voice? No. It requires a lot of vocal training. I imagine I know what "born like that" means, but I think most people here including yourself are the real idiots and haven't thought that phrase through. I think people like to use natural talent as an excuse so they don't have to come to the painful realization that hard work can get you the same skill as someone like Susan Boyle. And natural talent doesn't really exist. Their might be 2% natural voice to help with certain things, but the rest is all training. Thinking it's all natural talent is called rationalization and it's a defence mechanism. Do you know Susan Boyle in person?

    • @sophiemuirhead4000
      @sophiemuirhead4000 8 лет назад +4

      +Brian N Think what you want, but funnily enough it is a thing. Many, many people with voices like that do not practice constantly, they do not go to training, but they do have voices like that because that's just the way they are.
      And a natural ability can be displayed whenever. Why does it have to be during childhood that all of these "natural abilities" have to be made visible, because they don't. For example, I'm naturally good at art. I don't sit and practice for hours and I certainly don't get "special training" to be good at drawing. I just am. It's a natural talent, just like thousands and thousands of other things are.
      Yes, I do know her in person, but regardless of how or why I know her, you do not have to be trained to be good at something.

      Given that Ant and Dec had just said that until that point the show had been lacking Talent we must assume that the audience by then was getting a little fed up, wondering if they were ever going to get something worth coming for. Be honest, if you had sat through dozens of awful acts would you be expected Susan to be your saviour? That is what makes this so special, preconceived notions being overturned; the audience would have been awaful if they had refused to listen to the evidence of their own ears and given her a lukewarm response, they did not do that, they accepted that they had made a mistake, welcomed her into their hearts and stood as one to applaud someone truly special; which at the end of the day is what makes this such a powerful video which people come back to watch time and again.

      We are all judgmental, human nature, up to a point, the audience the same, when it came to it they we racously approving and supportive, can't call them and anyone here that at that and at this point. It was the most amazing performance that I’ve ever seen and never forgotten all these years later.
    She wiped the arrogant pompous smiles off all three judges faces and many of the audiences faces. She taught many of us not to judge others on appearances alone. Susan Boyle, full of humility and inner beauty.

    No one has ever deserved to win a national talent show more than her. Would have gone unnoticed for the rest of her life if it wasn't for this show...just because she doesn't look like your typical artist; unnecessarily dolled up just to 'look the part'.

      I guarantee you that those reaction clips were taken from a completely different time during the show, at a time when Susan Boyle wasn't even on stage. The editors of these reality shows just throw unrelated clips together to make it look like they are related. Honestly, I doubt that really anyone in the building was against her at all.

    As someone with Asperger's Syndrome, this audition gives me hope. Whenever I doubt myself for never having any friends, never having a girlfriend, never being kissed, being bullied throughout high school, or any other reason, I come and watch this audition. It gives me hope for humanity and shows me that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I truly believe that who you are on the inside is all that matters, but unfortunately, life is very cruel at times, and makes me question this idea. Thank you Susan Boyle for giving me hope for my life. You are living proof that every life is meaningful, and that being an awesome person on the inside means more than your looks.

      Maybe he was weak in the knees. This is a guy who *knows* stardom, and like Mr. Cole says, look at his face. He's bathing in the knowledge that he's having the rare treat of seeing a true star be born right in front of his eyes. Most of the time in these shows, you can tell who's _good_ right out of the gate; this time, he could tell that she was a _winner._

      The whole thing was set up. Simon and producers had already heard her. Ant n Dec even knew. The reaction overhyped a Better than average singer. what annoys me is we are supposed to be amazed because she looks (here anyway) opposite of what this very media tells us what is supposed to be attractive. Its basically saying "wow this old boot can sing - isn't it amazing" the judges pantomime acting rounds it off. The setup VT made her look like a sad loser. They then edit her pre song talk to make her look as sad as possible - they TURNED the audience against her to start - THEY MANUFACTURED this emotion in the crowd and the viewers at home. it makes me feel ill how much Simon Cowell manipulates people.
