I have such fond memories of the road to Glenorchy (by car, in my case!) almost 7 years ago. I stopped the video at one point to go pick the picture I had of almost the exact same viewpoint, and it brought me a lot of joy. Thanks for sharing this great series, it makes me day-dream as I patiently work towards getting a motorcycle license (as a hobbyist photographer, the combination of road trip and beautiful pictures is magic to me)

Yes it's great to be riding with a local. I am with you the more dirt the better, as the island isn't massive, there are a lot of linking the really good sections of dirt with seals roads as the dirt sections are not days of riding like you may get in Australia.
Great to see you putting the Scrams through their paces. Great footage! That $18/beer place is called Kinloch Lodge. I've stayed there and it was overpriced and if the price of beer doesn't give it away, the guy running it was a dick.
haha, sorry that made me laugh out load, as I imagined how you would have delivered that line "and if the price of the beer doesn't give it away ......."
Another excellent day in the dirt! While you're obviously happy riding solo, it must be nice having company for a change. 1:31 Historically, a private hotel was where people lived for an extended period of time in the days before short-term rentals became available, as opposed to a regular hotel where people only stayed a day or two. Now I guess they're just posh regular hotels. 1:47 For breakfast, I always carry a pack of raw oat muesli with me, with lots of nuts & dried fruit in it, and a small plastic bowl, and soak half a cup in hot water the night before, then add yoghurt in the morning. 2:00 Hair by helmet! A look that I'm very familiar with. 19:30 MENU ENVY! always happens when you eat at a pub with other people :) 21:38 Fabulous photo of James! I hope he got a copy to frame. Fantastic music. Yes by my self or with someone else it's always fun riding. Thanks for the information about the Private hotel, that makes sense now. haha yes not sure which was the better choice. Yep James scrubs up ok for a photo. Great to hear you enjoyed the episode.

@freewayproject i'm looking for new tyres for my bike, she came with metzeler karoo street and is a peace of garbage in every single terrain possible. After see you travel so long with your's original tyres, this only means that is better then mines hahah Thanks dude, much luv
@@IvysSSousa If you were mainly dirt and more technical, rocky, steeper, I have used Dunlop 605D front and back, great grip, cheeper than most but they want last that long on sealed roads. The heidenau K60 SCOUT are great for 50/50 dirt and road, from what I have experienced
It seems it must be good to still have that many people waiting, someone suggested to get delivery instead of waiting in line, maybe that's the smart option.
As a kiwi who has done these places hundreds of times, I cringe at the commentary of a fella seeing it from Ozzy eyes with a pommie tour guide, such as the drive is so long, walking is the shortcut! Laughed my arse off at that one. Clearly talking through a hole in his head as we like to say round here.
We are obviously not experts like you are who has ridden these rides hundreds of time, just two hackers enjoying exploring New Zealand, there was more nuance to the comment, obviously he wasn’t being literal, just emphasising the point which people watching would pick up on. Seeing you are the expert it would be great to add a link to your channel so people can get the expert details if they need them. I hope you enjoy watching two hackers exploring your trails but I am sure you would have way more fun out there than us.
Not really enjoying the commentary sorry, as stated I cringe. But as always my country is stunning, the photogenic nature of its landforms and light make it ripe for the camera. No interest in exploiting the place for a RUclips channel either. I prefer to just ride and take it all in. There were no subtle nuances if he knew what he was talking about. The Routeburn track is a three day tramp. Riding your bike around Lake Wakatipu to Key Summit carpark from track start takes four hours, so the comment about walking is quicker made me laugh my arse off. So sorry you do what you do well but from a 'natives' perspective it just made me cringe. Safe travels.

Cheers,
Luke
What is it?
Yes by my self or with someone else it's always fun riding. Thanks for the information about the Private hotel, that makes sense now. haha yes not sure which was the better choice. Yep James scrubs up ok for a photo.
Great to hear you enjoyed the episode.
Kia Ora Joe. Having ridden most of your trails and roads on my 411 Himalayan and other machines I must compliment you on your coverage. Bloody good job mate. But please ditch the squeaky Gen XYZ Millennials et al 😮sound tracks. Makes for an excruciating aural experience for this Kiwi. Stick with what your mic picks up and bin the rubbish sounds. Ka kite ano. Billy
Thanks Bill, great to hear you are enjoying the series, apologies for the cramp music.
@@freewayproject Hey Joe, I shouldn’t have made my crap comment on the music. Unnecessary especially as you are delivering top shelf content. Please accept my apology. Cheers, Bill
2:42 Cool hair 😂
oh everybody who rides a bike has hair that good most of the time they take a helmet off.
@@freewayproject i have long hairs so have this situations too, haha
@@anosan17 🤣
We all know why those sheep freak out when they see you Joe. 😁
😂😂😂
@@freewayproject just remember, it's only wrong if you get caught.
@@martythompson6509 😂😂😂
Why - he's not a Kiwi (or Welsh) 😊
Enjoying the series. However, the music is a bit too loud at times. Respectfully
Great to hear you're enjoying the series, apologies for the loudness of the audio.
Hey Joe, do you have the google maps itinerary somewhere?
Hey mate, I don't have an itinerary, on these rides I am just roaming around with no plan, making decisions where to go next as I go.
@@freewayproject I see.. could you share your google maps history then so far? Be really curious. Picking my world raid up next week... in wanaka...
epic
Great to hear you enjoyed the episode
what tires you guys are using on the scram 411?
The CEAT tyres that come on the bike, nothing has been upgraded or changed on either bike.
@freewayproject i'm looking for new tyres for my bike, she came with metzeler karoo street and is a peace of garbage in every single terrain possible.
After see you travel so long with your's original tyres, this only means that is better then mines hahah
Thanks dude, much luv
@@IvysSSousa I did have to change the back type and put on Pirelli scorpion a/t tyre 120/90-17
@@freewayproject what tyre you recomend for a 300cc adventure bike(like CRF 300 rally)
Vote 1 Joe for RE Ambassador.
haha, thanks mate, it great you are still enjoying the series,
If you have to ask, you can't afford it🤣 Get stuck in Joe👍
I should have just walked in t the private hotel, I sure I would have fitted right it 🤣
I love Fergburgers, but they weren’t rated as the best by Lonelyplanet. Kiwis love exaggerating 😅
Thanks
