Personally I do not understand why many of the stationary engine folk are so against Lister Ds. Yes I understand the dislike around modern engines being shown, Hondas etc, but as a young person who is coming into the hobby, the fact that we are apparently needed to keep the hobby alive to then be ridiculed for having a certain type of engine, and a very successful one at that, is a little disheartening. I get that people want to have engines that are special and different and not just having a field full of 50+ of the same engine, but in my opinion it is off-putting, especially to newcomers into the hobby. At the end of the day if it's someone else's engine and they like it what does it matter to you? Props to you Adam for putting your opinions aside (I know you are not a fan at all!) and giving one a go. 😊
Any stationary engine would do me, I'd deliberately have a D just to piss off the gobshites that think their above running a D..... I have no need for an engine but I could listen to it all day, such is my love of engine's no matter what they're in.🫢👍🇮🇪
@@terryatkinson899 🤣 Well said, looking for my first stationary engine and I fancy a D (I muck about with lawnmowers usually so not a stranger to engines) but the trouble is getting it in a big enough car / van!
Three million turds and your holding on to most onum as your so full of shite people like you are putting off youngsters starting in the hobby as most like myself start off on these nice simple little engines. I owned my first one in 1980 and still proud to say I've a shed full. OK I have preferences to makes of engines but I wouldn't walk along a row of engines on show and skip the ds because I didn't like them . We desperately need youngsters in the hobby not negative comments on a particular model. Paul, Admin , lister D Stationary engine Forum.
I just decided after having a 'D' for about 10 years in bit's. I might as well make a start in cleaning the mag. Maybe even having a go at rewinding the coil. just got to sit and count the turns required. 🙂 Been looking for a replacement coil or bite the bullet and send it off to get it fixed.
I mainly do mk1 and 2 c5s, and i am a sucker for saving crap too last year i saved a BX from the scrap yard, and this year a fiat panda, i love watching your videos, just a keen on getting my own cave built soon
All you need to remember is that:- "The man that never made a mistake, never made anything". Simple as that. We're only human. Owning up to your mistakes is what earns you your forgiveness. So now it's time to take the lesson on board, don't forget the lesson and then move on. Onwards and upwards. 🇬🇧👍😎👍🇬🇧
😂😂seen that coming by a mile. Mr man cave turn this into something positive get it up and running a lick of paint and offer it to your views as a raffle prize £5 ago and donate the money to the hospital that is looking after mrs man cave. Just a suggestion. 🤔
Good Evening Adam , You are a prat but we like you I wish you all the best on getting it up and running with a lick of paint, You take care of yourself and stay safe best wishes to Mrs man cave❤.
Wish I could have placed a bet on it being a lister d entering the cave. Personally I love them. Look forward to watching you tinker with the ole door stop.
I knew you was going to confess to owning a Lister, however I thought you were going to admit to buying one......however, inheriting one is very different. No charge to answer to, case dismissed 😂🤣
Nice one, you had me thinking what the hell you'd been up to. Don't be so hard on the old Lister D there's loads of history standing there. Loads of us man cavers are looking forward to watching you get it running.. If you then don't want it why not raffle it off for charity.
We can see through you like a pane of glass 😂 I knew you'd got something else on the quiet! Now, don't clean it or introduce a wire brush to it but just clean the carb inside, add a bit of pipe as an exhaust, that angle bolted to the top was most likely a silencer support bracket, hoover out the water hopper and run it just as it is with all the crud and everything even the stick!
Been there, done that. Oh I’ll never buy one of those, wouldn’t have on in the shed, you will never find one of them here….. then Off I go to some auction and what do I bring home? The one thing I said I would never buy. Oh yes, I have the t-shirt and the guilt. You are not alone.
Nothing wrong with that, everybody should have one, a prime example of English vintage engineering even if there are eleventy billion of them, only this very evening I have had a contact asking me to resurrect one., I can't wait.......
I don’t know much about these engines but I would think you should stripe down and a good clean for starters and please can you tell us about mrs man cave l hope she is doing well look after your lady 😊
Did i miss the mistake?. OR THE 2 OLD ENGINES IT.?As a engine collector we all have good ones and bad ones as well but inorder to have a total collection you need the crap ones runningas well even if it cost 10x what there worthiness price just put on bake burner and other come a long a Then time to fix it for few bucks
Adam, your acting skills are brilliant. I laughed so hard when you unveiled that Lister D. Brilliant. Are you giving it back to Jeff when you get it running?
I thought you were going to say the council have found out who's been stealing their road signs 😂 When you polish up those brass plates it going to say "Property of the White Star Line , RMS Titanic" well they certainly look like they have been on the sea bed for the last century.
Not going to lie I'm one of your avid watchers from the start you know me but you had me worried seriously sweating the hole shebang bluddy lister d couldn't believe it falt something serious happened anyway hope you are well mrs mancave still good vid keep up the good work buddy
Could have been worse.... You could have been lumbered with a grey fergy! We used to sweep them up and shove them in a heap in the corner!!! Like Ford Escort MK1 and the Austin Mini before it, the Lister D is a rite of passage - you haven't really "been there" until you've had a Lister D !
I thought U may have got a complaint about the noise what not or all the neighbours hD sent a letter I felt so bad sorry at first thinking oh whats he done now lol 😅😅😮😢
Superb, look forward to the lister d start , we all started with one of those , great intro to Stationery world , I still have two ,
Absolutely brilliant Mr Man Cave, would love to see you get this running! So nice to see Mrs Man Cave on yesterday’s Swaffam Auction vlog 👍🏻

It was just a matter of time before you got one Adam, well done, looking forward to the progress
Had me going then Mr Mancave, I'm sure you will get it running spot on!
I thought you’d bought a pair of crocs for the minute now that would have been unforgivable

I believe that you can help a poor engine back to life no matter what its origin , You are the Man .
I look forward to seeing you get it going. My first engine was a Lister D.
I mainly do mk1 and 2 c5s, and i am a sucker for saving crap too last year i saved a BX from the scrap yard, and this year a fiat panda, i love watching your videos, just a keen on getting my own cave built soon
You prawn. You're fortunate to find something in that condition. There's serious matters afoot...
I really thought it was going to be an Allis B, but you would be proud of that purchase when it happens!

Wish I could have placed a bet on it being a lister d entering the cave. Personally I love them. Look forward to watching you tinker with the ole door stop.
I really wish more of these were available here in the U.S. I have been looking for either a diesel or gas unit for ages.
At last you have seen the light. By having a lister d type . All true engine men have at least one d type in there collection. 😂😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍👍
It had to happen one day!!!!, Good luck with the work. All the best Bob
You are a miracle motor repair person !! GOOD LUCK ?
I knew you was going to confess to owning a Lister, however I thought you were going to admit to buying one......however, inheriting one is very different. No charge to answer to, case dismissed 😂🤣

Good job you’ll start to like them soon I have 4 now and I still need more lister ds
It could have been worse, and the Listers were both running, and you'd have nothing to do.
Great project, good luck.
I am on the fence on this one but not the post lol . Just get it going mate then put it up for sale . i would put a bid in for it !!!!.
As soon as this started I thought of a lister d 😂
Had me worried there adam 😂
If you fill the hopper with vinegar, you could use it for making pickled eggs!
Nothing wrong with that, everybody should have one, a prime example of English vintage engineering even if there are eleventy billion of them, only this very evening I have had a contact asking me to resurrect one., I can't wait.......
😂😂😂😂 love it .
Adam there's nothing wrong with that because I have two Lister D engines and I would like to get a Petter engine to restore
I don’t know much about these engines but I would think you should stripe down and a good clean for starters and please can you tell us about mrs man cave l hope she is doing well look after your lady 😊
Love it. I hope you're going to film stripping it and rebuilding for us old novices.....

Lovely engine bit tlc
Adam, your acting skills are brilliant. I laughed so hard when you unveiled that Lister D. Brilliant. Are you giving it back to Jeff when you get it running?
The weird bracelet is possibly a support for a exhaust system which might have gone out a hole in the wall
I thought you were going to say the council have found out who's been stealing their road signs 😂
When you polish up those brass plates it going to say "Property of the White Star Line , RMS Titanic" well they certainly look like they have been on the sea bed for the last century.
Not going to lie I'm one of your avid watchers from the start you know me but you had me worried seriously sweating the hole shebang bluddy lister d couldn't believe it falt something serious happened anyway hope you are well mrs mancave still good vid keep up the good work buddy

You know you wanted one really😀
Will it be an oily rag or a full blown restoration???
Welcome to the Dark Side, Mr Man Cave.
You Wally but it made me laugh Mr man cave 🚑🛀😄😄
Thats not so bad better than a Puch Maxi engine 😂😂
That needs painting like a rainbow
For a moment there I thought he had found a pound. Just a copper pipe.
Everyone should have at least 1 Lister D in there collection
Nowt wrong with lister D
Whatever you and ir anyone else thinks. These were so popular and lasted so well. Lister must have done something right.
Get her running Adam, and take her to a show as is
I can see the yellow van coming and taking you away or Mrs Mancave needs to give you the birch
I would check the serial numbers first. You may well have a set of twins👍👍
What have you done. Its not even an early shaft driven type. Weigh it in 😂
A good wind up! 😄
Well, you know it wouldn't be the first mistake you've made!😅
i have seen worst. mine was found in a farmers ditch
Thought you were going to say that you lost a 10mm spanner...
Having us on a bit, were you? You succeeded, but once you exposed that Lister, I knew it would be OK. 🤣
A new letter box support
You are right your channel is finished because of what you keep saying about about the Lister D.
If you are so ashamed of the lister d you could always donate it too someone thats just starting out on engines
the next thing you learn is man cave is the new president of the lister d preservation society
there is nothing wrong with having a lister d mr man cave
Ah... Aha.....
You do need a clean up mate it’s getting very untidy in a short space of time lol
I thought U may have got a complaint about the noise what not or all the neighbours hD sent a letter I felt so bad sorry at first thinking oh whats he done now lol 😅😅😮😢
