How 'bout,

-The rain is the powers that be pissing on the common man
"Clouds of mystery pourin' confusion on the ground"
-the clouds are obviously the source of the rain and the confusion is the bull that the Establishment would have the masses believe
"Good men through the ages, tryin to find the sun"
-heroes like the Kennedy's and MLK that tried to lead the people to 'the light' from which the oppressors would keep the masses
"Caught up in the fable"
-refers to the metaphorical Camelot of the Kennedy Administration and the hopes and dreams for a new day in American politics that it represented, and
"I watched the tower grow"
-references the country's strength (the towers of the castle)and also the Pentagon ;
"Five year plans and new deals"
-politics as usual (empty promises)
"wrapped in golden chains"
-the gold is attractive, but the chains are representitive of the machine that keeps the common man down.
-Just my perspective

I am a Vietnam Vet and this song brings back all my friends who are no longer here. RIP all of you brave men and women. Danny and John Paul you have lived in my heart and soul these many years. Jamie thanks for saving this newbie’s life and showing me how to stay alive. Master Sergeant Finnel you kicked my ass and a more hard core NCO I never met but you inspired me to be a better man and taught me that there is only one color of people, human! Thank you. The Master Sergeant fought in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was the best leader of men I ever knew. He kicked your ass if it was needed, protected you when necessary and left you alone until you needed his direction. A great and true American!!!!!

For those who may be wondering, the picture of the man with tears running down his face is that of a US Marine serving in Iraq who was moved to tears during a ceremony honoring fellow Marines who were killed during a combat operation just prior to the ceremony. This is the ceremony with bayoneted rifles planted face down in the dirt with a pair of boots on the ground, dogs tags, etc. A unit's way of saying goodbye. Undoubtedly some of the KIA were his friends. I have seen the full picture of this ceremony and this Marine. Semper Fidelis! CWO4 USMCR [ret]

Each of us that served in SEA left something there. 58,220 left it all there in that God-forsaken place. Kids that perpetually will remain 17,18,19 years old.
Those of us that survived shed tears, maybe we know not why, for this mess left behind.
It was 50+ years ago, but it was yesterday too. It never goes away.
That's the sad part, "It never goes away".
I was 19 when i hit in country and will always remember my 19 year buddies who didn't make it. Welcome home my brother and Gods peace be with you...

The rain is still falling in the last week have lost two classmates both Nam Vets both died from the diseases caused by the toxins in Agent Orange. Freedom ain't free.
Not to say anything against our US Government but they are to blame for that Agent Orange, I had a friend die from it, a classmate from school days.

The photos are not of American troops sport....Except for one photo they are sub Saharan African or black African UN troops. Go back to school. I stand corrected study on your own.....American schools suck!
How about some blessing for the young Aussies who you Yanks dragged into the Vietnam mess because you could not deal with anything Communist and were too ignorant to even have dialogue with Ho Chi Minh - No just consign 80,000 young lives to death in another country -NO PROBLEM ! Thank You Robby McIntosh. I returned home from Vietnam with a physical age of 19 and the out look of one a 100. I was spit on, called horrible names and had rotten fruit thrown at me. All by my fellow Americans; I held that hate in my heart for these 51 years. However it is people like you that helps me to let it go.

Salute to all of us that were Spit on stuff thrown at us and at times wasn't just fruit.....Salute to all Veterans of all era's and to the Women and Men who Serve us now while we are safe at home daylight rollin in just pullin in from an alright patrol...Salute...what terrible way to get a label put in front of a Gold Star Families Name...Salute...to all who gave it all that never received any piece of respect.....we were home a few months and a good good friend ran into him at a fishing spot below Max Starkey Dam in Marble Falls TX my Cousin who is by far the best Fisherman on lake Travis loan him some gear he had just got home and stated they say I'm crazy ya know my Cousin said just keep the poles and stuff he said no I'll leave on your dads front porch he did went home a few blocks away and that day in 69 he took his own....well you know how this story ends we had been home a year or so Spicewood Store wouldn't sell me a beer appearance bothered them Willie Nelson bought it and those bigots had to leave or change their sick ways thanks again Willie been a long run ..

This is the saddest of my childhood memories. I prayed every day for my brother to come home safe only to loose him to the Reserves in the heat wave of 1988. His body was guarded and the Army blamed his death on his medication. They refused to let our family do an autopsy. Guarding his body that seemed to be stuffed with cotton. Hard. They entombed him in a cement sealed sarcophagus. With a gold letter E. David Kim Do not open under the strict laws of the Army. A 21 gun salute. And the court at the last minute Army General enters and requests closed door private meeting. The judge came out and said case dismissed against the drug company. So not the drug but would not reveal the truth. I went around the whole room of his troop and asked what happened to my brother. Most had tears and one woman openly sobbed. No one would look me in the eyes. His records were sealed for 99 years. My mother died never knowing what happened. I hope I know bc he came to me in the black room of our minds where we can converse with our dead relatives. He just said it was a trainee that lost control of his high powered weapon. He was killed by a hole in his chest. I will never know if I am right until I get to Heaven. These pictures have brought back the grief as if it was yesterday.
