    You’re the only person I could find who has tutorials for these, and not only that, but also broken down the way that you had done. Thank you so much for these it’s so helpful.

    These are such great tutorials! I love how you break everything down so its easy to see each move distinctly. Thank you for taking the time to make these, Sir. Even though I have some time before I'll be learning this, it's nice to know there is such a great resource here for reference.

    Mr. Hayhurst, my seven year old son sincerely appreciates your tutorials. Your teaching style really connects with him. He practices his JB every morning before school. He's up to Segment 4. We hope to spot you at a tournament someday. Thank you so much!

    Im a begginer, im not into competition, but i wna learn to use as self defense and be my everyday exercise routine. I want to learn basic drills like this you just did... i appreciate your video a lot, and it is so clear, even the position of fingers and hands are detailed. So good as instructor. More power. Thank you and God bless.

    Sir, I could not have learned this in time for World's without your video breakdowns. I love how you teach it, and I have been winning first at tournaments. I really hope that you will teach other weapon forms in this same way. Thank you!!

    Josh, u have saved me. I am so far behind on my form, I was still working on segment one in class while my instructor was teaching 7 & 8. I like how your so thorough, for the next week I'm gonna be watching your form videos. Watching the 3rd degree dvd is a nightmare! The whole form take about a minute. WAY to fast, I've only been a black belt for a month so I'm still getting used to the special training. Thx again ^^

    The "norm" is getting one about your height plus about a fist-length but you can use any size bo staff as an adult. I'd recommend getting the next size up from your height rounded to the nearest 6 inches. I'm 5-9 and use a 6 foot bo staff

    Mr. Hayhurst, these videos are outstanding! Love the pink JB, Represent!

  • @mrhayhurst
    @mrhayhurst  12 лет назад

    Good question. I wouldn't limit the size to how good you are. When I coach a new student, I make sure they have a weapon that is their height or up to 6" taller (Longer is better than shorter)

      I could teach long range but I decided to leave the ATA and no longer teach these forms actively. I hope you enjoyed this video of mid-range, but more, I hope it inspires you to find an instructor that will truly teach you the art in a complete way

    There's a #3 block and #4 block. When you switch hands, the technique changes but the angle doesn't. In this form, it's always right handed and the block always goes that way. In Mike Lee Kanarek's words, "I taught myself to be right handed."

      Sam Morgan hey! I check them every once in a while, there are a lot of companies that make custom weapons but I don’t have one I’d prefer. Search for tapered wood bo staff and find one with the colors you like or contact the company and send them a sketch of what you’d like. I bet they’d hook you up with the perfect stick!

    I'm not sure, check with your customs department I guess? Also, go to the website for Century Martial Arts, they would totally know. Also, Hyper martial arts has some pretty sweet bo staffs!

    Hi, my name is Laila and I train in ATA in Hialeah Florida. I'm from mr. Ayala's ATA Academy. My favorite weapons in the Bo staff. I personally love it, but since I'm only a red belt I cannot learn this form until I'm a 3rd degree :/ But thank you for showing it. Hey sir do you have any tutorials for a XMA form or any tips? Thank you for your time sir.
    Sincerely,
    Laila

    What is the key to get exact length measure to an individual? Too long might get it to floor and too short can break stances... thank you...

  • @mrhayhurst
    @mrhayhurst  14 лет назад

    @grandmasuzy Oh of course! As soon as I replied on your comment, I realized who it was! Well tell him good luck this year and keep at it even if he doesn't get 1st at Worlds... it's a process, you have to attend Top Ten a few times to get a good feel for it and make people remember you.

    what about the size of the Jahng Bong? i saw 4',4'6,5,5'6,6... how can i match it for me?

    • @mrhayhurst
      @mrhayhurst  9 лет назад

      +Beat&Fitness hadar.trainer I would say between one fist length shorter than your height up to a fist length taller than you. I use a 6' one I'm 5-9

    does it depend on on witch handed u are like for the block if u are right handed u push it tward the left?

    • @mrhayhurst
      @mrhayhurst  7 лет назад

      No, it doesn't matter which hand is your dominant one because it has to be done THAT way... so the best thing to do is just practice doing it like that til you've got it!

      Not sure, if you order one and get to the shipping part of the website, they'll tell you whether or not Bo Staffs are allowed to be shipped or not.
