Wouxun KG-Q10G GMRS - Wouxun's New GMRS Hand Held GMRS Radio With GPS and CB Radio Channels

  • Опубликовано: 7 авг 2024
  • **Update: There have been several reports of people damaging their KG-Q10G radio while attempting to remove the antenna. While the antenna on MY Q10G radios did come off fairly easily, the antennas are not intended to be removable and using too much force to remove the antenna WILL result in a broken radio.
    You can get a Wouxun KG-Q10G here: www.buytwowayradios.com/wouxu...
    In this video I review the Wouxun KG-Q10G GMRS handheld HT radio. The new Q10G GMRS walkie talkie features built-in GPS, USB-C battery charging, and unlike any other GMRS radio on the market, the KG-Q10G is able to receive all 40 CB radio channels. As of the making of this video, no other GMRS radio on the market is able to receive CB Radio channels.

    The wood splinters hanging off the end of the pencil at a 45 degree angle really set this content producer at the head of the pack. There should be and Academy Award of some sort for this man.

    This FLAT OUT has the widest receive range of any two-way walkie talkie that I know of. Going from the top of the SW band (CB) plus Broadcast FM and NOAA to almost 1Ghz is freaking amazing! There are dedicated scanners that do much less! That it's also a Superhet GMRS radio with GPS make this thing a hell of a deal. When my tax refund comes, I'm grabbing a pair!

    Congrats on the 23 years on the RUclipss LOL.
    Almost got the 935G+ but wanted superheterodyne, IP67, and the USB-C port on the radio (not the battery). This might be something I can buy once, cry once and stop delaying my first purchase. Kind of wish Yaesu, ICOM, and Kenwood would get into the high end GMRS radio market, but this is the perfect price point for high quality. These Wouxuns are WAY better than Midland, Cobra, Uniden, Motorola big box store units.

    Well, good thing I am personally your favorite viewer, because it seems subscribing to you has paid off Randy. Or has it? You either saved me from a bad purchase, or enticed me to make a bad purchase lol. Time will tell.
    I just ordered this KG-Q10G. I was about to pull the trigger on a KG-UV9GX while it was on sale. Now it makes sense to me why it's on sale. :)
    I was taking some time to compare the UV9GX and the BTECH GMRS-PRO. While not very useful yet because I don't think I know anyone else with either of these models, the GPS is compelling (plus I can still use it to get my location). The KG-Q10G seems to be a a beefed up UV9GX which covers most of the Rx frequencies that the UV9GX covers, which I find some value in, with GPS and USB-C added. In my opinion - I'll pay an extra $25 for the USB-C alone. GPS is gravy.

      @vitogriffin8902 3 месяца назад

      For license free security, or other communications use inside or around structures, the retevis RT10 is a decent option. 902-928 mhz band, no license required in digital mode. For monitoring at home a scanner is the best way to go. There's not anything happening on ham or GMRS that's worth monitoring. CB isn't worth monitoring. Airband isn't worth monitoring. Those are decent hobby functions but there's nothing being said that's important to anyone who's not in the conversation. Most public safety is P25 so these radios won't pick it up anyway, and for analog stuff these radios scan like snails compared to a scanner so even an analog scanner blows them away. If you're planning on using the radio to really communicate with, and plan to get a license or use them well outside of populated areas then that's another story, but as it is they're basically as useful as an FRS walkie talkie if you don't get licensed because you can't use repeaters without someone policing you about it and ratting you out.

    Gonna wait for CHIRP compatibility, CHIRP has previously been able to “unlock” some of my GMRS-only radios to be able to transmit on *all* memory channels, regardless of band, and I like a multi-functional radio for “emergency purposes.” Manufacturer software almost always keeps the “rules” baked in, limiting my options when the government and society as a whole inevitably collapses.

    Can you tell me the frequency numbers on the inside of the KG-Q10G antenna? I'd like to pick up another since I destroyed mine,forgot to check the frequency numbers before I trashed it,radio is fine and I do have other antennas but the original did perform well.

    How good is CB reception going to be with the stock antenna? Pretty bad I imagine.

    Would be worth it if you could transmit in CB channels .

    Without transmit on CB, I am unable to practice my Spanish. Although having GMRS was fun for a few minutes, I noticed that nobody else used it in the area either. It's almost as lonely as 6 meter band. Looks like a nice radio for what it's meant to be. A multiple choice test can get you a lot of additional options. Your choice.

      I dont need to take a test to have more options.

      That's true. There are a lot of lubricants in the CVS. Be well. Wherever your (very smooth) hands or feet may roam. May you peel many screen covers. Preferably in your own tent, away from the other campers, and small furry mammals.😉 "Breaker one nine?"

    Hi Randy, thanks for another great review. This seems like a fantastic radio. Here's my question. If I unlock this radio, will it have the ability to receive P25 public safety radio?

    Thanks for the solid review. Is the antenna fixed? I saw you unscrew it off, but was it glued? What connector does it use? Is the factory antenna sufficient or an upgrade better? Trying to understand the situation and don’t see a good breakdown of the antenna. Thanks!

    • @TheNotaRubicon
      @TheNotaRubicon  8 месяцев назад +1

      The antenna is "fixed" with a small drop of glue, it uses an SMA female connector and i was able to talk to a repeater 70 miles away with it.

    • @jasonbowers-zl8zi

      Thought it looked SMA female on the vid, but wanted to verify. Thanks for the quick reply and details. Looks like I’ll be picking one up at the…affiliate link below. 👇🏼

      My SMA connector came right out of the radio still attached to the antenna, thought for sure i broke it but appears to work normally. Maybe they upgraded the glue @@TheNotaRubicon

    I bought the h version
    Can I get the btech amplifier for it? If so which one? I’m also going to get an antenna for the top of my flag pole. Basically a base station! Want to make sure I get the right amp and and antenna that work
    With this radio h version. Thank you in advance.

    I've purchased a KG-S88G and KG-905G kit of two, along with a KG-UV9GX. Wonder if this would be worth adding to my collection of Wouxuns?

    I havethe cousin the KGQ 10 H. It’s the ham version of this radio because I’m a real man. It’s a great radio and the menu options are really easy short press for all the stuff you use regularly like squelch tones, etc. long press for radio system functions like the backlight talk out timer etc. Definitely a great radio I might just pick this one up because it has, the CB channels for scanning.
