U have been most instrumental in promoting GMRS radio to the general public. For that sir, I nominate you for the Roger Beep Gold Medal award. May you forever hear it in your dreams :)
Wow that’s almost Sad , are you one ☝️ of them their Hams ? But I agree he’s my favorite too 🤣
@@concernedpatriot9314 No sad ham here! Just credits and fun.
Lol, nightmare of the roger beeper,
But he definitely deserves a prize, but the roger beep I don't know😜
Hahahhahaaaaa. Beedooo

Got my GMRS license yesterday. Now it’s time to get a “legal,” I have a UV-5R 😆, GMRS radio. Thanks for these videos!
Dude. Long time sub for jeep content and always been interested in radios... but now I'm learning so much about radios I might actually get a license. So many sub hobby's to break off into in the offroad world- glad to see you branching out and sharing your knowledge. Love the new vids man!
I don't really even care about this stuff but I subscribed. That said I stumbled on this and your smartassiness is on another level. Great stuff, I think you give my wife a run for her money. 😕
You make your wife run for money. Shit I should try that!
July 16, 2021. Received the Wouxun KG-1000G. Still waiting on two(2) Wouxun Handheld Pro. Thank you for all your reviews. Debi
Another great video, Randy. Thanks for your time as always. Hope you have angreat weekend.
New subscriber. Been watching your videos all week. I've learned so much my brain hurts. Every video is EXCELLENT. Keep it up. I'll be sharing your channel with multiple friends and family to get them interested in community off grid comms. Thank you.
Another fantastic video Randy, great job as always.
Thanks
Your videos are very informative and your comedy is even better . Glad I found your videos. Keep up the great work
Thanks, its great to see real world tests. We need more Chris , like we need more cowbell.
I love my KG-1000G! The remote faceplate option was the major selling point for me. My Yaesu ham radio has the same feature. It's a must have when under dash space is unavailable.
Used your guide to get my GMRS License . Thank you , Randy !
Love your comedy style! And you’re ok at radio reviews. 🤣 Nah but thank you for being so detailed with your explanation of what each radio does and putting it into layman terms. God bless you and keep it for us GMRS’ out here!
Nicely done comparison. Running the Midland 15w but when I decide on more power I'll be looking at your reviews. Subbed.
Oh yes, I want that Wouxun. 50 watts, detachable face...great radio: very expensive, and very backordered, as expected.
Another great post Randy - thanks! The FCC website IS the test!
New to GMRS. Very informative and humorous content.
KG 1000g is great GRMS setup for my Jeep JKU!
Would definitely recommend it!
Great review, even better Buckaroo Banzai reference.
Thanks! You have helped me to get started in GMRS, and I thank you for that. Your videos are informative and super funny. Keep it going!
Thank YOU!
Love your sence of humor bro........................... by the way, I just discoverd you aportation on The Salton Sea Issues., great job bro.
Thanks for the great video!
Another cigarette lighter powered GMRS mobile radio is Midland's MicroMobile MXT275. I bought one due to its ease of installation and it works okay, but I am still planning to upgrade to the KG1000-G.
Don't buy anything that rhymes with Shmidland. Randy explains why in a video that I'm too lazy to link to. They all have "issues" that make them poor choices.
Yes! I am married and I totally understand. You sir are a lucky man. Your wife actually wants to drive a jeep AND will use radio type communication besides a cell phone. Entertaining video and informative as well, thanks.
I watched GMRS and Ham classes and feel like I learned a lot. Looked at a couple of practice tests and felt pretty comfortable with my knowledge.
Im gonna use my Baofeng radio now having been educated, not going to however register myself with the government 👍
Very informative GMRS radio comparison video. KK7T.
This dude is funny with his sarcasm I love it😀
I respect your insight in your video's. I also enjoy how you present them. I have learned more from what you say (And Don't Say), then from any other channel. You have been a huge influence in helping me build a "Emergency Radio Network" for a group on folks up in the woods, from my home. Keep on transmitting! --- beep
Great comparison... now just waiting for KG-1000 to get back in stock, hopefully before summer 2022 :/ ... watched to the end ... best quote ... BB c.1984 Hey, hey, hey - don't be mean. We don't have to be mean. 'Cause, remember: no matter where you go... there you are.
As per your invaluable guidance I purchased the radio on back order. Let’s see how long this takes. Looking forward to playing with this
Your microphone sounds very awesome in this video
Thank you!
Would love a video on GMRS mobile (automotive) antennas - differences, mounting styles, etc. I have an aluminum truck (Ford F350) and don't think the magnetic mounts will work for me, but can't seem to find bar mounts (screw-in L-bracket style) that don't have no-name antennas with them and don't know what's interchangeable... Thanks for the vids, your style kicks ass!
Look at an NMO base trunk lip mount and put it on the hood. It has two pointy set screws that physically attach it to the metal. Look for a good wide-banded UHF mobile antenna or one that can be cut to 462 MHz according to a tuning chart. Get one that has about 5dB of gain and you're all set. Diamond, Larsen, and Comet are good names. Conversely if you don't mind drilling a hole in your roof, you'll get the best possible performance. Use a specialty hole saw made specifically for antenna installations. Antennx HS-34 will do the job. radio-accessories.com/HS34.aspx
3rd brake light bracket
Nice Bucaroo Bonzai quote at the end there!
If you properly read the B-Tech manual you would've known that you must enable the ROGER BEEP in order to get full power. Hold the manual upside-down in front of a bright light to view the hidden instructions Bucko! 🙈 🤓 😅
Another great video. Two things: First, you said Radioddity correctly once. Clearly a slip-up. I'm sure it won't happen again. You sorta did it twice but the second one wasn't quite there. Work it. Secondly, thanks for pointing to small items on the display with a big flat surface that points to half the screen so we can accept your challenge and quickly look all over the place for what you're talking about. Your vids are the best, please keep 'em coming. Oh, and if you do the wide/narrow video please explain why folks might actually want the option to use a narrow setting?
I think you are using mind control. I keep buying stuff after I see your videos. Thank you for reintroducing me to GMRS. The biggest benefit is that finally I can have a radio solution for my wife who will not study for a ham license. Now she has a KG 935g in her car with a mag mount antenna. You have opened my eyes to GMRS, thanks
Hey tiny dancer, good vid. Finally.
I haven’t even watched the video yet and I’m already down voting it! Just kidding I love your shit!
thanks for not wasting my time. I am your favorite.
Thank you for having trouble pronouncing Radioddity. I can't pronounce either. Thanks for the review.
It would be really interesting to take a few radios out to Catalina Island and see how far inland you can receive the signal.
Great. Thx
Thank you for the comparison video We have been looking for a GMRS mobile radio for some time. We were looing at the Midlands, but they decided all of the sudden to raise their prices out of the blue. Any recommendations on antennas that will pair well with the KG-1000G? Cheers!!
Your vids have helped a lot and lead me into buying some great start up tech. Curious though. Whats with the subtle Joe Rogan promo? Are you heading onto his show at some point??
kg1000g in stock just ordered
Radioddity has the DB20-G on sale today, 7/27/2021, for $119.99 with an 11% discount code of Moon11 that was still valid as of today. This is surprising, as the Moon11 code was advertised to expire on 7/25. Net delivered price for one radio today was $106.80 with programming cable...which is an 18% discount from normal list price.
The $119.99 sale price is now over but the 11% discount code is still working as of 7/28.
Good show, and seeing Joe's grin I bet I know what was on your finger. So do you swagger like John Wayne now?
The two speaker out option is cool. Radio do not have the option for PA out any more? I remember way back when old CB radios had PA speaker out options.
very good video☺☺☺☺☺☺☺
I am looking at purchasing the radioddity for my travel trailer. Do you have a suggestion regarding antenna type and mounting? New to your channel and appreciating your advice. Thanks! - Marc
Hi there great video as always those radios are really great l have a real problem my radios dont get out well l am in a black spot with a lot big buildings around in a big city short wave c b and uhf and vhf is poor do l use larger antennas but l have cell phone tower very close to me would that cause a lot of noise to me anyways great video as always
Hey! is the AnyTone AT-779UV GMRS Mobile Radio the same as the Radioddity DB20-G?
Love the videos. Would you ever consider reviewing any GMRS mobile radios from the liars...I mean wonderful American company Midland?
Funny you should ask! Keep an eye out for a new video in the next few days!
..."there will always be a notarubicon watching over you."
Have you reviewed the Retevis RA87 ? I'm considering it for a repeater. I'd like your input on it.
Thank you, Randy. Here is some gasoline money for your far ranging trips seeking the elusive endangered species, the COMMONSENSORAPTOR FARSOCLYDIOUS. I really appreciate all the GMRS info you pack into your channel, and the manner in which it is elucidated... 😎🤠 ROGER BEEP.
Thanks!
hahahahahaha,,,,,, I know, it's just for "ME"> your favorite .....Marcel from Yuma,,,,,,,,,,,,love your shows
Is rf emissions like nocturnal emissions?
sad to hear that the BTech GMRS 50x1 doesn't even get to the full 50 watts or being able to store multiple configs for the same frequency (not sure if the 50x2 is the same way) :( was really looking at getting that one for me and my wife's cars.
How come a baofeng uv-82 older ones are better picking up signals than the new ones are
I like the photo in the background. Joe would be soo much better if he stayed off the wacky backy.
Another thing that will ruin your radio pretty fast, is mounting/setting it on your dashboard, or some other very hot place. 40-50 watts tx on a little mobile radio, makes a LOT of heat. Add more heat from the sun, or other sources, and begin transmitting, and I guarantee your radio will be fucked in no time.
I'm not overly concerned with price and want a one time purchase unit for my jeep. Is there a buy once cry once high value unit that won't mind an occasional rain shower with the top off?
Would be happy to purchase through you link?
Do you sell any of these after review?
The thing I didn’t like about my DB20-G was the software and the ZERO is on the wrong place on the microphone. I’m late to this party I know.
Serious question, what speaker are you using? Can't you blow the speaker by combining radio outputs? Love the videos you're a big reason I want to get into gmrs!
i'm using a cheap Uniden external CB speaker.. It hasnt blown yet..
Can you mars mod that last one? And if you did, how would it stand up to a icom 2730?
Good Morning! Do any of these radios have a scanner?
I do not have GMRS repeaters in my area. Southeastern Connecticut.
I been loving My Wouxun KG-1000G Plus its an amazing Radio i did a custom Faceplate Ram Mount Setup for mine on my Rago Fab Center Console Molle Pannel bridge plate came out nice and I have noticed it's speakers are low without 20 watt Speakers especially when the Chassis is mounted under a seat 13:57 @NotaRubicon Productions
Hello, I am about to pick one of the BTECH GMRS 50x1 radios up 2nd hand and I have a question for Randy or the Viewers. ”Some People” need not reply.
When you say that it will not store repeaters on the same frequency with different tones, are you referring to a split tone rx/tx? Or are you not able to i.e. save 2 462.575 channels one with 141.3 the other with 156.7, even if they have with separate names and numbers?
#2
Question. IF I was to mount a radio like this in my truck and have a 5w hand held in my wife's car would that extend the talking distance between the two over having a hand held in each vehicle? Or would be still be restricted distance wise by the hand held?
It would help for sure, but the 5W HT will be your limiting factor, especially if you are using the "rubber duck" antenna on it. A mobile antenna mounted correctly will increase what you can hear, and the higher power will enable the HT to hear the mobile from a greater distance. But the problem will definitely be the mobile hearing the portable. I wouldn't do it unless you plan to be within a half-mile of each other all the time.
@@W2IRT thank you for the reply.
At a certain distance she would likely hear you without you being able to hear her
20:00 Stupid question. Does the fan give you trouble on the KG-1000G? it really looks good.
No
Radio can be a 'slough of despond' for us noobs. Is there such a thing as GMRS training someone can take? I haven't even managed programming my Beofang HT (it won't talk to my pc) .....mired ! Thanks for the video.
Do you have a video of how you mounted your radios in your Jeeps.
Yes.
Which gmrs has a roger beep?
I like the Joe Rogan poster
Yep, forked over my $35 and as with most government websites, I would have paid someone an additional $35 to do it for me.
The link you provide for the KG1000 has been discontinued. They supply a new link to the radio in their description, but you probably lose your affiliation.
Thanks! Link updated!
Does anyone know of a way to jailbreak this radio firmware ? Aka remove the power limitations.
Is there a radio ready programmed, kinda like the way the uv5g HTs come out of the box ? Or is there a mobile I can program without a computer?
All GMRS radios come pre-programmed and ready to use on all 22 channels, right out of the box, no programming and no computer needed.. AND all mobile GMRS radios, and 98% of GMRS hand-held radios can be programmed without a computer.
@@TheNotaRubicon 🫡🙏 Just wanted to make sure I can do it all with menu keys. Thank you for being not only a pillar, but THE foundation for us Gmrs strays.
Just bought the UV-5R.... and I am wondering if that works with this license that you’re talking about that you can purchase? If not then I’m pretty bummed, because I’ve been telling everybody to get this radio.
The UV5R is a HAM radio, so to use it legally you need a HAM license.
The cops are not coming…
@@TheNotaRubicon do you have any links that you suggest to study for HAM license... or how did you go about doing it?
Thanks
The UV-5X is a legal GMRS Baofeng
@@TheNorseman17 Head on over to the American Radio Relay League's website (ARRL.ORG) and all the licensing stuff you need will be there, including the exam questions and correct answers, how to learn the material, where to take the test and so on. Find a club and email them saying you're interested in taking a class if they offer one as well.
Does product packaging indicate if a radio is a SOC or superheterodyne? Or is it something that is mentioned in forums only? Or do only certain products mention it?
Radio manufacturers will usually brag about a superhet radio/put it on the packaging, ect... If it's an SOC, there is usually no mention of it because it's not something to brag about.
@@TheNotaRubicon awesome. Thank you. This is why YOU….. are my favorite vlogger.
What antenna to pair with this on a 2022 Rubicon Unlimited??
OOPs. The Kg-100G permanent mounted....
How does the Wouxun KG-1000G compare to the newest Midland?
They both have the same number of fars, the Wouxun is a much more capable radio/can do much more, the Midlands are very simple. I've done reviews of both of the new Midlands so you can see what they can/cannot do.
I've been looking at the BTech 50x1 and like you said, there's a lot of negative reviews. So I'm asking, are your 2 50x1's still holding up? This videl is almost a year old now, that's why I'm asking. Thanks and keep them coming. Oh, and I'm not a dick head:-)
Neither of the 50X1s are in my Jeeps anymore. I think for the price there are much better options today.
@@TheNotaRubicon in the $200 price range, what would you recommend? The KG1000 is $380 now...
😂👍👀
Did you get permission from Joe to use his picture? Jk lol. Great vid
i am surprised with how expensive these things are and the inconvenience of getting a license that people use these things over a CB radio, like for just basic offroading communication and stuff
Beyond using it when offroading, do you actually use GMRS during normal around town driving? If yes, why does that trump using a cell phone?
Around town I use a cellphone... Until the SHTF and the cellphones are the first thing to go down...
@@TheNotaRubicon Honest answer! In my neck of the woods no GMRS repeater for over 100 miles, and little to no chatter at all on the local ham repeater. Truly having radios is for shtf times only.
I have a BTech radio the UV-25x 2 I’m not to impressed with it . I know it’s not a GMRS radio . It’s a BTech none the less. I have had it less then a year. It still receives transmissions but it doesn’t transmit . So I put it on the meter 0 wattage. I have been thinking about a BTech 50x1 GMRS radio and a better power supply.
After the performance of the UV-25x2 I think I will spend the money and buy a Radiodidity or a midland mxt500 . Not sure yet
Where has that finger been?!?
Will the DB20-G programming cable work with the KG1000-G?
The DB20G uses a K-style connecter and the KG1000G uses a RJ-45, so no.
Are you sure? The DB20-G I got came with a USB to RJ45.
cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0011/7220/9721/products/09_3f4b0e50-84db-4f13-8c37-2bd453628954_480x480.jpg?v=1623828950
No, I wasnt sure! I was too lazy to go into the basement to see what cable my DB20G came with so i looked online, and it showed a K-style connector.. So i just took a trek into the basement and looked in my DB20G box, and indeed it does have an RJ45 Style connector on the cable.. But, I have no idea if it will work with the 1000G .
Frank's kg1000g finals burned up. We are on 625 & 650 all the time. Nice job on 725 with the roger beep. 986 in long beach standing by.
i think they should be the prince of "the air".. looks like they except. its official..
Most profound thought of the day: go to sleep with a itchy ass, wake up with a smelly finger.
What, no Midland??? But I heard they have the most privacy channels and 20 mile range.
oh BUMMER: I've bought 4 of the BAOFENG gmrs'...........................
"The Fun" ...that alone is worth $129.00.🤣😂
