Michael, you will feel better if you climb out of your basement, go out side and enjoy some sunshine. Bring some sun screen because it sounds like you have been down there a long time and I'm sure you are very pale. Here is a pro tip to getting your life back: Find the button that shuts down the youtube app and use it.
If someone is in range of one repeater #1 and i am out range of that repeater, but in range of repeater #2 which range overlaps with repeater #1, can i talk to them? Or do we both need to be in range of the same repeater?
As a newbie to GMRS, your videos are such a breath of fresh air. As a former broadcaster/entertainer, I have to give you credit for your ability to present fantastic information with a confident angle. I have never watched one of you videos and not laughed, smiled, or learned from you. Thanks for the great content.
I'm getting mine as well and setting up a repeater for my whole area, this side of mount rainier line of sight hopefully 👍🏻we will see how it goes, fingers crossed.🙏✌️😎
I thought for while I wanted to get my HAM license but dropped the idea when I learned you can use repeaters in GMRS. I really don’t have any interest in all the geeky stuff in the HAM world. I just want to legally use my radio. Got my GMRS license and a couple radios. Thanks for the guidance.
Just love this channel, I’m a general in the ham world and love it! (not a “sad ham”) but, GMRS is a very important part of our family farm. It’s so nice that all involved in our farm can use the repeater I put up for all the farm activities! AND I hope you all will join the GMRS family. It’s just handy and fun 24-7!!!!!
GMRS radios seem to be more convenient than handheld CBs. The CB HTs need really big battery packs or don't last long on what you can get, so you need a 12V car battery for power, but the GMRS HTs are efficient enough to use small Lithium packs. So my CB radio stays in the car. I only used my AA battery-powered HT CB radio to listen to the NOAA weather forecasts, until I got a digital emergency radio (KA600) and a cheapie FRS/GMRS. HT.
My life was pathetic before watching this video. I couldn't hold down a job. My wife had left me. My dog even pissed in my boots. But now that I am a youtube certified gmrs operator all that has changed. I just won the lottery the other night. You may have heard about that on the news. I am getting married to a super model in the morning and I don't have to have a job now because I am filthy rich. I want to thank you sir for all your hard work and dedication
My friend I just started picking up your videos and I have to tell you point-blank you are a rockstar.. you've cut have very good sense of humor but you bring into the videos and you know your stuff and you imparted in a very very good way I am a retired CEO of a $300 m company.. just learning about GMR radios
I dunno... I think, if I didn't understand this repeater stuff already, I might be more confused. Think you need a Carl Rove style whiteboard to illustrate some of these concepts as all the talk of channel sharing is hard to visualize without a visual aid. Also a demo of the squelch tail would've made that much clearer. But, enjoyed this vid, as I have all the others and I give you much respect for trying to help the noobs. I bet you've increased GMRS use in the US more than you know. I know you're the motivator in my case for sure.
Great presentation and better than paying some propeller head to sit in a boring classroom for 6 weeks where all he wants to do is convince you to take the test for your HAM license.
I am going to be buying a GMRS. Radio; I really appreciate the lessons in your presentations. As I am Legally blind, you assist me in learning, in a much easier manner. Thank you.
Im legalyblind too. I love how a lot of radios talk now. whatcha get? I got the rb19p but I still want to have ones with removable antennas. I have the baofeng but I want a gmrs specific version of it that way I cannot screw anything up no matter what. probably going for the gt5r next
As far as I'm concerned, you can make your videos as long as you want! If they're longer than I can stay awake, I can just pick up where I left off. I don't normally click the BELL icon on channels when I subscribe. Yours is the only one. :-)
Your videos help us noobs understand how things work in the GMRS world. The best thing I like about GMRS is the talking fars via repeaters and the simplex to not disrupt those on the repeaters.
I like your videos because 1) they are informative, 2) you are way funnier than the other ham radio YT channels and 3) you are not an insufferable sad ham. I never think they're too long. Some of the bits might be a little repetitive, but not a problem.
Love the channel, love the content!! A 20 - 30 minute video is great, and a treat when it's longer. Folks who think that's too long need to chill. ✌✌👍👍
I am just beginning to learn all about GRMS stuff and plan to get a couple of radio soon. Thank you so much for taking the time to carefully explain repeaters. I’ve watched a number of your videos so far and really enjoy your channel.
OMG!! Thank you for this video!! I am so new to all of this. Hubby and myself just want to be able to communicate if the network goes down. We are only like 5 miles apart and I was afraid I had to purchase a lot of expensive equipment. Your videos really help explain the difference between the ham vs gmrs. Thank you
Love your videos and they have helped me a lot with understanding the whole GMRS operation. I now utilize a repeater in my area and have made some new friends on the radio. Keep up the great job.
The "Mr Rogers" of GMRS. And, as they said of him, he was a oers in dire need of a good enema. ..thank you for the condescension and patronization. I feel like I just graduated from kindergarten.
That's the problem with the world these days. Well one of the problems. People don't educate themselves on the important things that could save their life one day or someone else's life keep up the videos. Subscriber for life here
Thanks for explaining that. It helps to have the frequency list in front of you when listening to your explanation. So now I see it. The alignment of frequency's 15-22 and 23-30.
Thank you for not killing me with boredom. Although all the talk about the 50 things you have to do to the UV-5R sounds interesting to me. Does that make me a sad ham sympathizer?
Hey man, thanks to all the info you provide in your channel bout GMRS and how it works i went and applied for my license the other night. Just waiting now for the FCC to assign me a callsign.
I'll chime in. I'm totally new to the GMRS community. Just got my license the other day. I've been online for a loooong time now. These computers have rewired our brains, along with things like microwave ovens, by making things available so quickly compared to how we grew up before that era. Same thing with the way people drive these days. It's not good and I try and read books as much as I can to offset the effect. I know your remarks are more or less in jest, but those are among the reasons why so many of us now have a short attention span.
Great explanation of the difference between the two and explaining the repeater channel line up. I will refer back to this RUclips as I move forward in getting the best out of GMRS usage. Thanks for sharing! Happy Holidays!
Teach Me, Teach Me! Seldom met a person that couldn't teach me something. Love the vids, keep it up. Smart not to argue with the Misses but idiot is kinda strong. I caught the pop up! Be well!
Just got my GMRS license few weeks ago, now I take a bit of time to look for repeaters on my GMRS, I drive truck so I do that I different locations all the time. What I noticed is that mygmrs doesn't always have all open repeaters listed. So I just listen to 8 repeater channels on sdr and have it decode the CTC/dcs, then I listen to see if it's public and talk to them .
Opening: WAY too long. My time was wasted. Good thing though, I have invented a wasted time recycler that recovers 86% of wasted time. I can therefore only hold you responsible for 14%. I saw you pointing at that other guy when you said I was your favorite viewer. I’m not upset. That would just be more wasted time. This was a good video. You should make more. I will be forever rewarded in the knowledge that it was my suggestion that prompted every video you make after April 25, 2023. - 73
Very clear and very informative. I learned something. Getting my Wouxun KG-UV9G Pro soon I hope. Been checking out many of your videos and learning how to use these radios.
OMG, ill never get the eleven minutes and three seconds of my life back .....
and yet, you still took the time to whine about it, so clearly your time is not very valuable.
Sounds like a sad ham to me
That would suggest you had a life. Your on RUclips bro……and commenting to boot
There is a "delay", but most normal people. ... most "normal people"..... "normal people" know this!

I've been a ham for 33+ years, whoopdeedoo. I like GMRS better because it's "radio for the common man". Love your vids.
Amen ! KK7T
If only they'd put more GMRS repeaters up. There's no network. - KO4RMH- WRMW381
I hit a repeater on all 8 repeater frequencies
If someone is in range of one repeater #1 and i am out range of that repeater, but in range of repeater #2 which range overlaps with repeater #1, can i talk to them? Or do we both need to be in range of the same repeater?
Constructive criticisms… less sarcasm and straight to the point. Thank you!

i agree,fantastic vids
I listen to the HRCC and the JRE poscasts. 15 to 20 minutes isn't a problem. I enjoy your videos, please make whatever length you like.
Who is "JRE?" HRCC is the Ham Radio Crash Course...

I find your videos very useful. Got our license because of you. Thanks.
I'm getting mine as well and setting up a repeater for my whole area, this side of mount rainier line of sight hopefully 👍🏻we will see how it goes, fingers crossed.🙏✌️😎

That's what I'm talking about. Amen GMRS Brother
Exactly why I went GMRS and I work in the electrical mechanical field.

You know Randy, I had to listen to a RUclips prostate ad to get here but by golly, It was well worth it.
🤣🤣🤣
Probably the best, most straight forward explanation for repeaters in the world. I now use the printed ham version under my wobbly table leg.
Who else watches to see who got pinned to the top?
Ive been trying to get pinned on purpose, but he wont do it because im his favorite viewer.

Most of us like the long videos, Randy. The longer the video, the more of your infamous wisdom we recieve. Thanks for your time.

Just watched your walk around the Salton Sea. Respect.

I am just beginning to learn all about GRMS stuff and plan to get a couple of radio soon. Thank you so much for taking the time to carefully explain repeaters. I’ve watched a number of your videos so far and really enjoy your channel.
Thank you for your videos! A few minutes of your video clarifies hours of trying to understand user manuals!
Jumped right in! Didn't waist my time at all. I did miss an appointment with the Cardiologist, but what the hell!
Priorities!
🤦♂️ Why don't you learn to cut corners like a normal Cardilogist?
I hear you can find one of those on Craigslist
Excellent information. Thanks. I was gonna spend 11 minutes for foreplay and sex, but glad I substituted this instead.
Amazing how many fars a little humor goes in helping people learn. Thanks for the great content. I wish I had a friend like you in real life.

Thanks for laying out the differences. Love the comment you inserted for like 0.25 seconds of screen time! :)
simplex is when you get sores around mouth and lip area.
repeater is when the sores come back repeatedly.
I thought your repeater, was what you pee'd through!
LMBO!
Thanks! You're the man Randy! I'm learning so much from you.
Thank YOU!
Thanks. I got my gmrs yesterday.
Thank you for not killing me with boredom.
Although all the talk about the 50 things you have to do to the UV-5R sounds interesting to me. Does that make me a sad ham sympathizer?
You're treading dangerously close to sadhammage!
Your intro turned me into a subscriber! Thank you for that!
😂😂 You are hilarious. Love the videos. Thank you. But not because of the length of video. The info and commentary makes my day. Bravo!

Thinks for doing the research for me and passing on the info. Also, props for being able to make eye contact with a camera lense.

You made a good case for using a Baofeng. Channel naming.
Good job, thanks for the explanation.
Thank you for another informative video!
