Oh man lol, this may be a little mean on my part too, but as someone who's been around a while myself, I think there's a fair bit of projecting and jealousy going on here. I feel that there are a lot of displaced, wandering 09ers on the internet who are just now eternally unhappy and burdened by their inability to like/enjoy something after SF4/whatever else, which in high likelihood they weren't actually even quite as good as they think at whatever that was - or had the level of understanding they think. Maybe at most shared in a common experience with others who were in it at the time, but didn't run that through critical thinking. Even in more current times with people my age (40ish), who have been around, the meritocracy thing comes up regarding people like Sajam, like "eh his videos are alright I guess but he's not that good/doesn't compete at the games so does his opinion matter?" This itself is parroted with little thought, but what's more funny is that I'd guarantee that nearly everyone who says this probably wouldn't be able to beat Sajam (or Max, or others) in whatever game. It's almost like a bunch of people who sat on the bench in high school sports talking trash about career commentators. I think that's being too generous, though - these guys probably wouldn't have passed tryouts to be on the team. They'd give up too quickly, then blame everything but themselves on not making it. "Everyone else is so wrong, am I right guys? Let's validate ourselves on our cesspit forum of shared misery", hahaha wow alright, probably time to change hobbies at least.
lmfao just going through this thread reminding us all that reddit has somehow become just as toxic as its archnemesis 4chan over the years...wait no scratch that. objectively MORE toxic because of the damn voting point system where people can omega echochamber each other and obliterate all dissenting opinions. lmao "BOUT TIME SOMEONE CALLED THIS (one of the few actually chill down to earth content creators) OUT WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR A REASON TO HATE HIM FOR NO REASON REEEEEEE"
These "debunkers" are targeting all the wrong holes in your videos, they need to go after something more damning. Now if I saw a video titled "Responding to the Hair Touching Allegations" in my sub box, I'd know it's truly over for Mr. Sajam. No recovering from that one.
People saying not to believe everything you see on the internet and then believing false information against someone on the internet will always be hilarious to me
I can't speak to the intricacies of Street Fighter, but I've always found your takes super reasonable. Especially when it comes to a healthy competitive mindset, critical thinking, and how to be a good competitor (in every sense of the word), this channel has helped me a ton in tabletop wargames, shooters, and stuff I do play more competitively. Thanks, Sajam! Appreciate your content. Anyway, brb, gotta tell Reddit you once trapped me in a Walmart bathroom before setting the store on fire.
I learned this lesson at 7 years old looking up Gameboy Cheats for Pokemon emerald, that resulted in me deleting my save file and not getting the feebas a video told me was GUARANTEED if I followed those simple steps.
Seen so many videos like that, where they take something completely out of context and try to bitch on people, it really sucks and i'm glad you called them out for it
Ah, the "well actually" effect. Where a person will hear someone say something and think they're mistaken, so will jump in to correct that person, and doesn't realise that they're doing exactly the same thing: parroting information without checking if it's true.
I know sports arent for everyone but some people really should try If your only hobby is hating I really wonder what went wrong These people have WAY too much freetime
This dude complaining about a video from 2 Street Fighters ago? Also I'm no genius, but I think the professional fighting game commentator might know how the game works.
I gotta say, I admire your reaction to watching a group of randoms throwing shit at you out of nowhere. Someone say one mean thing to me and I'll probably be second guessing myself if I am worthy (?). But as soon as this video topic started, I immediatly thought about one (maybe patch) video of some game that started with 5 minutes of you saying "don't repeat what I say, make your own conclusions", so I already knew those comments were wildin'
I'm honestly baffled that people hate Sajam this much. He's such a chill, level-headed, friendly dude. And as far as commentators go, he's one of the best. His game knowledge is really impressive too. I've heard a lot of commentators at major events get little details wrong about characters/moves (I don't blame them, there's so much to know when you need to understand every character at a high level to comment on high level play), and it's rare that I hear Sajam make a mistake. And he knows how to keep things hype.

hearing the sf4 training mode music again gave me psychic damage
Cherry picking talking points and cutting out half the context to make counter arguments is Kappa's favorite pastime.
That was some big ass backhand slap in the face response. Nice work, Sajam!
Even in more current times with people my age (40ish), who have been around, the meritocracy thing comes up regarding people like Sajam, like "eh his videos are alright I guess but he's not that good/doesn't compete at the games so does his opinion matter?"
This itself is parroted with little thought, but what's more funny is that I'd guarantee that nearly everyone who says this probably wouldn't be able to beat Sajam (or Max, or others) in whatever game.
Street fighter iv is over 10 years old and people still downplaying their main
Just seems like a classic case of "youtuber/streamer bad"
I learned this lesson at 7 years old looking up Gameboy Cheats for Pokemon emerald, that resulted in me deleting my save file and not getting the feebas a video told me was GUARANTEED if I followed those simple steps.
Seen so many videos like that, where they take something completely out of context and try to bitch on people, it really sucks and i'm glad you called them out for it
why is everybody so mad
The best thing about reddit is I can disregard any and all opinions and complaints coming from that place. 😂
Lesson learned: never trust a sf4 player
Ah, the "well actually" effect. Where a person will hear someone say something and think they're mistaken, so will jump in to correct that person, and doesn't realise that they're doing exactly the same thing: parroting information without checking if it's true.
I know sports arent for everyone but some people really should try
If your only hobby is hating I really wonder what went wrong
These people have WAY too much freetime
I didn’t know r/kappa was still a thing in 2024 lmfao 💀
What a bizarre level of downplay and Haterade chugging by this guy
This dude complaining about a video from 2 Street Fighters ago? Also I'm no genius, but I think the professional fighting game commentator might know how the game works.
2, 7 year cycles since it began
"never played FG competitively"
man doesn't know about the FRQ Steeeeve arc
