8:59. If I lived there, I'd enquire about putting some ferns in planters in that space to brighten up what is effectively a closed in area. They should get enough natural light live there, and I'm sure the neighbours wouldn't mind looking out into some green plants as well.
My favourite was the one with the space on the roof. It was tucked away, ultra private and not overlooked, which is very rare in NY. Put some potted plants along the perimeter of the area, with some that are taller than the fence, and you got an ideal outdoor space.

Those wires up on the roof are cable TV coax -- there is some low DC voltage on them, but they don't carry enough current to electrocute you (or even shock you, for that matter). Almost every building like these in Manhattan (4-6 story Old Law Tenement) has the cable service drop up on the roof and hanging down each "line" of apartments. Hard to notice from the street, but if you look closely you'll see it.

The first two apartments are quite cramped but OK for minimalists with a clothes-washing fetish who don't mind all the stairs. The third one has three possibly-legal bedrooms, if access to a shaftway counts. The last unit looks the most functional, and if you don't mind stairs and if Cash hasn't broken any of the doors and switches, it has the most reasonable price per person. That is, if any NYC price is reasonable.

These apartments makes no fucking sense to me. And it kinda scares me because I feel like humanity is just a frog in the boiler you know.... people will accept anything as long as the transformation is slow enough. And I mean literally anything

The shiny facade of that first apartment hides a whole lot of 'cons'. At 0:42 when the main entry door is open you can see the unit has a compact layout. The living room is an odd shape and since the hallway is not walled off part of that alleged 13' x 11' living space is actually walkway. And you can't put furniture in the walkway so I don't consider that living space. If you put the couch right in front of the main entry door it's not preferable for privacy to swing open the front door and your couch is visible like and 1 foot away. That wall would probably be best for a tall bookshelf with the couch up against the brick wall and maybe a small drop leaf table on wall by the kitchen. But guarantee once you put a couch and a dining table in that living room area it's going to start to feel cramped real quick. You can't open all the kitchen cabinets all the way. The kitchen is narrower than a hallway. The bathroom is basically in the kitchen. You'd have to use the living room as an eating area because the kitchen is so small and there's not even a breakfast bar or any alternative.

I completely agree. The best thing would probably to forget the idea of getting a table in a space that small and just go for some sort of u shaped couch with the back against the brick wall and a TV on the opposite wall. Need some lap trays because a table would eat the space. Then a 10 foot by 7 foot bedroom with closets stupidly located at either end. The only thing you can do space wise is put in a loft bed.

Regarding the first apartment, those closets are NOT walk-ins Cash! Try walking in when it's full of stuff. It won't work. Also, was that GFCI outlet in the shower?!?
