I taught software classes to over 100,000 people in my career including one to Steve Wozniak and I want to say that you are the FIRST instructor on RUclips that was crystal clear and unassuming in your teaching and explanation. Kudos for a great job. Most people on RUclips do a NON-step By Step explanation and I am lost from the start. They skip necessary steps and try to be cute showing little homemade shortcuts to do their video. Yours was so simple and exact. I just wanted you to know that I wished everyone did a help video like you did. Thank you. Keith
This video was the MOST helpful out of the numerous ones I've seen here. Your clear instructions, good lighting, and helpful on-screen texts far surpasses any other online guide. Hell, even the music was calming. iFixit can learn something from you guys, keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Thank you. I can now attempt to replace the Superdrive with a second SSD. I have the adapter frame and with this knowledge I have a good shot at getting this to work. Along with new tools and magnifying goggles for my retirement eyes!
Let us know how it goes!
I wonder why a modern laptop with a fast wi-fi connection will not play this over 360p.
Strange.
Thanks for the video.
My 2011 MB Pro will not boot, It has regular/constant flashing sleep indicator light.
It seems to be making a noise as though it is trying to boot from the optical drive.
A tiny, low volume bleep and a disc spinning whooshing sound is all the sound it makes.
It has no battery but has worked without one for years.
If you can give me a hint... Thanks.
I have tried the various start-up key options, but nothing.
It does not even boot to the boot option screen (I partitioned it).
I wonder if just removing the optical drive cable and then trying to reboot would help.
Here goes...
I also have a nice pc and I can't pay this over 360p
Awesome vid, thanks for the help!
Glad to help.
thanks for that!
Welcome
thank you!!
Welcome
Place screws taken out in a formalised fashion so you will know what ones go back into where it came from.
Wonderful and helpful video! Thanks alot!! Just onething: I accidentally broke and disconnected the cable right next to the speaker cable (another long cable you removed around 0:59). Do I need to freak out about this accident I made? 😭
I had the same issue. it's a bummer but it's 'just' the camera
Gijs de Jager so I “just” had to bought the webcam lol 😂
I'm watching your video because I need to place back the DVD superdrive, here is the funny story. After you upgrade to any drive MAC OS upgrade do not work, even the USB. Apparently something to do with the setup on this macbook pro. Hopefully High Sierra works now.
Put you old drive back in and watch this video www.appledollars.com/create-osx-usb on how to create a bootable installation usb.
For some reason this videos will no longer play :( need this to do on my 13' mac book computer. Will have to reference the 15' one
compatible Macbook pro 13 2011 early ? a1278?
I didn't understand the question.
Hi there, can I leave the bay empty? Anyone any ideas please?
The only reason I watched this video is to see what’s behind the dvd drive so I can determine if water went through the “speaker” holes.... 🤦🏽♂️
If you really want to know then watch this video www.appledollars.com/keyboard-replacement it will explain in great detail what is behind there and you should get the concept of what happens when you spill water on the keyboard.
Thanks for the good explanation! Only Apple would've come up with such idiotic design.
It's very well designed...! Obviously you're not too smart.
Buy a Microsoft next time.
