You guys rock. I watched this video, called your customer support to make sure I ordered the correct parts for my model, received them in the mail quickly, and changed the battery in 5 minutes. The clicker had stopped working d/t a swollen battery (it had 1700+ cycles). The local apple certified technician wanted it to stay overnight, said it could be a lot of different things wrong with it, they'd have to order parts, etc. Not so, and I probably saved $50-100 for the repair. Thank you!!

Hello, My Macbook Pro 2011 has recently started to run its fans at a high speed continuously after being turned on for a minute. I can feel warm air coming out even when ventilation is not impeded. I also notice that the battery charge drops at a rapid rate when not connected to the power pack and drops at a slow rate when the power pack is connected. Could this be caused by a bad battery? It makes sense that the battery could be overheating, thus causing the fans to engage. This also explains why the charge drops suddenly. Please advise.
Just something I wonder… are the batteries ifixit sells original or 3rd party products? I have a mid 2012 13inch Macbook and I am thinking about replacing the battery, since it has gotten really bad. But I'd very much prefer original hardware. I know I could get that by sending my macbook in, but I am not stupid to pay a few hundred bucks for something I can do on my own.
I only buy batteries from the OEM manufacturer. There are too many sleazeballs selling old, outdated, defective batteries that are junk. If Apple won't sell me a replacement battery, I'd pay the Apple Store fee to get a real, fresh battery. And guys, show some class and respect. Hey guys, I recently had a new battery put in my older MacBook Pro early 2013 and every time the battery dies my clock resets to 2017 and causes problems with my iCloud settings and some apps. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Did the guys who swapped out my battery forget to connect something or is there an internal battery that keeps enough power to keep the date settings working even when the computer shuts down? I need to remove a swollen battery from an old (2007) white MacBook (NOT Pro!). I've tried to get the battery out, but can't budge it. I can't get the case open, because of screws in the battery compartment. HELP!
be careful removing the battery screws. they're very soft and easy to strip, even with the correct tri-wing screwdriver. i think they were chosen for this reason. i recommend you push down on the driver firmly and then turn, making sure it doesn't slip and strip the head. if it strips anyway, you'll need to drill out the head, remove the battery, and then unscrew the rest of the screw with a plier. it's time consuming but it works. that's what i did.
Gotta love apple. took my macbook pro 13" to buy a batteryfrom the apple store and they said they can't sell the battery for this laptop since it's in the back because it can explode so they have to install it. thanks for the links below on where i can buy the battery and for this great video.
I got the phillips 00 screwdriver but i couldnt even unscrew the screws from the bottom because the screwdriver did not seem to fit at all. It was weird. Did this to happen to anyone else or just me?
I used a flat head driver... They work for freaking everything (as long as your careful) I've never come upon a tamper proof screw that can't be beat by one. (even the Xbox 360 Controller screws)

This would depend on what battery you purchased and from where if it's not an apple replacement then you can check the amp hours on the battery

She saved me about $80 that would have gone to Apple when I could just replace the battery myself.
