As a woman I can 100% in confidence say this was a rightful win. It's a proof that, if you are a victim, speaking up might change things... The victim won and the abuser lost... I'd say feminist community should have stopped her earlier and none of this would have happened. They've empowered her instead and openly supported. Yes, it was a step forward for all male DV victims. I think they feel more shame & fear. You know, I'm a man, this couldn't have possibly happened to me. No one will believe it because I'm a man. That narrative needs to be replaced by doing what Depp did. It's a hard, long road but you can make it all the way there.

As the mother of a domestic violence survivor, I am overjoyed that this case came out. Regular men, and women, face this everyday, and do not get to fully give their side. It's proof noone is perfect, and it's proof that one cannot be a victim and a perpetrator. The dirty hands theory proved itself here. Unfortunately, Amber Heard harmed other survivors, and their story.

From the way media outlets have reported this differently makes me grateful that the case was broadcast so we could see and hear it all and make our own minds up and we could see it is exactly how it is and not how certain media outlets wanted to spin it. Well done Johnny!

Just for the record... you CANNOT include in bankruptcy court any awarded penal monies from a plaintiff. That money must be paid back somehow, either by selling what you have, or buy negotiating on future income what you can pay. No bankruptcy court will allow Amber to just nullify the damages she was charged with by simply filing bankruptcy!

If the jurors could have seen all the proof she would have lost on that too. There is so much more proof out there (that's not hard to find) that proves she was the abuser and he was the victim. I really hope the courts and cops deal with the fact that she falsely got a restraining order, made false reports to the police, etc. She also perjured herself multiple times. Already Australia and the UK are looking at perjury and other issues. I don't think she will appeal this. If she does it would only get worse for her.

Either way that particular statement by Johnny's former lawyer wasn't particularly good and I'm not totally surprised the jury felt it met the standards of defamation.
Applause for the jury, too! Unless they've sat on a jury, people don't realize just how much work and sacrifice is involved.
The weight of responsibility for deciding someone's future cannot be understood until you've been in that position. Add to that, the huge emotional, mental, physical, and financial sacrifices, especially for a 6wk trial; it is a tremendous burden.
I hope this jurors, do not suffer any negative repercussions from this, because they did the job they were required to do, and deserve much respect.

I agree. I like how, Virginia's State law keeps the jurys names anonymous until after the trial, or unless a juror comes forward on their own accord.

This result actually should help domestic violence groups. We know how hard it must be for a man to tell his story of having been the victim of personal domestic violence. He put himself out there, raw and honestly, and told his story. Domestic violence happens to men also.
And the jurors didn’t award Amber any punitive damages - she got 0 dollars. They awarded Johnny $5 million (even though it’s capped at $350,000). It’s them saying that they didn’t believe her.

If she's going to appeal this case then it means her statement where she clearly said in court, quote: "I just want to move on with my life" she lied. If she really wants to move on, she will accept the defeat and move on. But hey, we are dealing with a narcissist here with multiple personality disorders.

This trial has placed a very strong reminder and exclamation point on the fact that men can be victims of domestic violence also. This has been a trial, not of man vs woman, but of truth vs lies. Justice has in fact been served and defamation has been exposed.

Ambers lawyers have to be disbarred , they brought witnesses to lie in court who have committed perjury and the lawyers knew this now they are following up a war against Johnny, and they don’t put to rest to this case they have to be disbarred their behaviour is highly unethical, unprofessional and dirty. Regardless of how the jury came back, Amber’s lies were blatantly obvious. From the overdramatized testimony, turning emotion on & off like a switch, to hearing her bait & antagonize Johnny, she mocked those of us who are actual DV & SV survivor. No person, male or female, should be treated the way she treated him. My heart goes out to him after this trial! I wasn’t a big fan of him but now I am! Now he’s a hero! She didn't face jail time for this, but I have a feeling the day will come for her. Johnny was lucky to get out alive, she's a real danger to others.. And this unstable, untreated borderline, histrionic, violent and pathological liar has a baby in her care. THAT'S horrifying.
