Weiler Matador Carriage Fix with Wohlhaupter UPA3

  • The carriage of my Weiler has this circular T-groove for attaching the compound. Due to misuse this groove was damaged and the compund angle could not be adjusted precisely. Used my Wohlhaupter boring/planing head to fix this problem.

    Very interesting. My favorite lathe is my Weiler condor VS2 which is almost the same as Yours. It had a similar issue, had to fix the captive T nuts. There was no damage to the cast iron grove, now the angle can be indicated and locked with very good accuracy. I have turned ok morse tapers that way.

    So many places to check when buying a second hand lathe. It's like buying an old car that has been used by an old lady to get her into church on sunny sundays... :-)

    That was really a bad looking place, reminds me to make proper hardware for mounting my shaper vise properly soon
