I got the Icon with a coupon for $25 two days before the coupon expired. A couple of days later it was $40, so my timing was perfect. I don't think I would have paid 40 bucks for it, even though it's probably worth it. I have other kits so I didn't absolutely need it, but I am using it all the time. I'm going to buy a 1/4 socket rail to keep with it. I thought the ratchet was a little too stiff so I did something to wear it in very quickly. I put a straight 1/4 Inch bit in it and put my DeWalt impact driver on the other side, then I spun it fast in both directions a few times. The ratchet still works great but it is not as loud and it turns easier. It did heat up a little bit but I stopped before I trashed it.

I have the Vim. It’s a perfect companion to my Wera Tool Check Plus. The added length and capabilities of the tool really improves the versatility of the Wera.
I too have the VIM version and like it. My bet is they are all made by the same Chinese (or Taiwan) manufacturer with slightly differing stamping/machining options for each branded name, a very common practice.
I think common sense should be applied here.... Different size drives exist for a purpose - No mechanic would apply "that" much torque with any 1/4" drive ratchet
@@AstroVanTribe The point is not common sense,The point is, for example, that not all 3/8" wrenches or ratchets in the world can handle the same torque, that does not exist, that is why some are cheap and others are very expensive. ICON is too short. It fits in the box but I didn't need or want another box and I have more than enough bits. The VIM comes with the adapter and extension and easily fits in my toolbox.
I can’t speak to prestacycle, but Harbor freight is paying VIM royalties on this bit ratchet. It’s all made in Taiwan but VIM does own the patent on this design.
VIM does not own the patent. These are all made by a company in Taiwan called Hi-Five. The company is owned by Bobby Hu, who used to work for GearWrench and designed their ratcheting wrenches.
No they don't, it's made by HI-FIVE and FACOM was the 1st to offer the flex head at least 10 years ago. All the bit ratchets marked " REVERSE GEAR " or " 1/4 GEAR " ...etc are all made by HI-FIVE. I believe Topeak may have been the 1st to offer the Prestacycle style version, and VIM was one of the early adopters of the box wrench style version but not the 1st and they don't own the design.

Hi- five to manufacturing in Taiwan makes them both for icon and vim
Tone makes a neat version: BRFS27.

I saw someone say HI-FIVE in Taiwan on another video with the close comparison outside of handle length on ICON and VIM
VIM makes that ratchet and private labels it for other companies.
Excelente demostración... Saludos desde México
The icon bit set in nice...i got one..not that easy to find...They seem to be hiding them in the back all the time
That was a useful. Thank you.
Good review, but what about the max torque that can handle those mini ratchets before break... 20, 50, 60, 70 Nm ???

Just out of curiosity, is there a noticeable weight difference between the Prestacycle and the Icon, just the ratchets themselves?
I don't think so, that's an older video so I really don't recall

Why does anyone care about packaging?
If you're in store looking for a product, it definitely helps to know what to look for.
