It's dunning Kruger effect. The 2700 rated players are just as confused as the game as the 500 rated players but the 2000 and 2400 players understand the game
You've gotta respect MVL, he's adapted the classic approach and built in a delay to emphasise that, at first, he hadn't even comprehended that the game had finished. It's that kind of innovation that propels the game forward
an important contribution to chess theory (moaning or growling) since your opponent may not be a looker thus not registering your confused facial expressions.
there's also the coughing method: cough in your chess hand before moving any of your pieces. will make your opponent reluctant to capture any of your pieces 🤣
I recently ran into the chessbrahs together with carslen at the zoo. They were studying the chimpansee faces, magnus was throwing bananas into the cage yelling 'i'm a chessbrah now!!!!', eric and aman were holding hands and crying causing a total scene. Don't support these guys

subscribed just for this video. Honestly should go down in history as one of the most hilarious chess videos to be made thank you aman, I am now informed
I've started doing the confused look after every move, even behind my computer screen. It works, I've already attained 2 GM norms and climbed 1000 elo rating. Thanks GM Aman.
Those disgusted/confused/pissed/++ looks are given by my boss every single day. Personally, I write these looks off to him being chronically constipated. Works wonders.
There's a GM on Twitch who I once heard say that few can understand the mental stress of playing Magnus. That is, just the fact that you're playing Magnus you're likely to overly question everything you do and feel half-defeated at the outset of the game.
It's not confusion, it's courteous humility. "Luck of the game" face. "I did win, but I'm going to act like I didn't completely understand so you don't feel humiliated."
I knew an FM who would sigh deeply and start tapping his head whenever his opponent would make a questionable move in a classical game, the dandruff that would fall would simultaneously tell me how good his position was and how close the game was towards finishing.
One sunny afternoon, while streaming a particularly intense game of blitz chess, I challenged them to a real-life game of 'giant chess' with a twist. The pieces were not just oversized, but they were also various pieces of furniture! Intrigued and always up for a challenge, Aman accepted without a second thought. The game was set in a public park, attracting a crowd of curious onlookers. As the game commenced, Aman, known for his aggressive style, advanced his 'knight', a small loveseat, with a dramatic flair. With my usual cool demeanor, i countered smoothly with a 'bishop', an ornate lampstand. However, things took a hilarious turn when Aman, in a moment of overzealous excitement, attempted to 'castle' using a hefty dining table. In his effort, he accidentally tipped the table over, sending a cascade of imaginary 'pieces' tumbling down, including Eric, who was perched atop the 'king', a plush armchair. The crowd erupted in laughter as Eric emerged from the pile of 'defeated pieces', his hair disheveled and his spirits down. The game had to be abandoned, as the Chessbrahs were throwing all furniture undeterred into the crowd. Suddenly I slipped while dodging a bicycle and broke my ankle, so now I'm in the hospital awaiting surgery. Dont support these guys!
Lots of people doing educational chess content but who, I ask you, is teaching these important concepts? I submit to you all that no one, with the exception of chessbrah, is brave enough.
You can do that in other professions too. You can listen to a person speak and either try not to laugh or look at them in disgust. It will knock them off their balance.
i thought it's just a funny video but now im thinking about it and yeah, Aman is 100% right lol. I got kinda better at chess and my face expressions now looks more like "i dont understand anything and i won somehow, thanks for the game, we played badly both i guess" :D (in comparisson to 2 years back of myself)
one other thing that you should do on this level is say "I don't know" at every variation you are talking about, like: "I don't know, maybe Rf3, Kg5, and black is winning... but I don't know, maybe he has some compensation after Qe4 Ng1 and Ba7"
I don’t know if it says more about me or you that these videos are just as good as the habits videos. I suppose they’re just different kinds of habits.
I agree with this video not because you can do brilliant moves like the rook sicifice means you know everything about chess specially when there is so much going on.
This may be one of the greatest chess videos I’ve ever seen.
Jerome's gambit video is still at the top, sorry.
true

low elo: chess is confusing
midwit elo: tactics, pawn structure, strategy, endgames, theory, zugzwang, analysis, positional advantage, tablebases
high elo: chess is confusing
@@firebug3256love how you just dropped random chess buzzwords😂
no one understand the game, GMs are just really lucky

Stephen Potter, Gamesmanship. Check it out.
Aman is slowly becoming a chess stand up comedian.
He mastered this craft a long time ago. Top tier content, really
The Hiki impression is on point
Should I moan after every move by my opponent with varying noise and texture to make him second guess himself?
Yes
Uhhhhhhhck. Eeeerphhh
Guess that’s chennis

Yeah I was there too, after that they all started making out in front of everyone, I would totally be ok with that if they weren't naked
I dont.
why not lol, Aman's right here lol

Oy vey lol
"He really going to regret sacrificing his pawn."
I make that same face even after my opponent has checkmated me
🤣 "Are you sure you want to play that? It checkmates me, but are you sure you want to do that?"
Literally breaking up at Rapport mincing around.....LOL
Aman out here with RUclips premium. Low key GM flex

thank you aman, I am now informed
Now this is the high level analysis we pay the Brahs for!
Can we please have 100 more of these???? I would never stop watching. Favorite video I've seen in the last week!!!
This is the in depth chess analysis I subscribed for 💯

When setting a trap, you need to overact that you just "blundered." Slap your forehead loudly and mutter "I can't believe I just did that."
Very subtle tell indeed
You should make a book. Facial expressions like a Grandmaster
This is the greatest chess video of all time. This channel is so underrated
It's not confusion, it's courteous humility. "Luck of the game" face. "I did win, but I'm going to act like I didn't completely understand so you don't feel humiliated."
I’ve only been using those looks on the toilet. Time to bring them to the chess board
I must be close to at least a GM norm, because I have no clue about what happened in the game I just lost.
great content aman very funny ! lmfao we need more of those analysis of facial expressions please

You should show this analysis to Magnus next time he's with you and and make a "Magnus reacts" video!
I just need Aman to know that i was the 69th person to wish him happy birthday that day.
Bruv. Aman is comedy gold.
I love these GM pro-tips. To summarize, your face should always communicate "I don't understand what's going on here, and I can't believe it."
I’m playing a tournament Saturday and TOTALLY making all the faces when I’m playing 😂
This is fucking hilarious
This dude is genuinely entertaining
Wait, but if I'm confused before, during and after the game shouldn't my rating be higher??

I never realized until today how important facial reactions are to becoming a GM
Tsaruk (last opp) is a 2023 IM 2480 FIDE.
A good lesson in expertology.
