Just a suggestion. See if you can lay hands on a box of WWB 147JHP. I've never tried it from a subcompact, but it expands well and penetrates deep from a 19 and P10-C. And it's cheap. It's even better with a 4.5 or 5 inch, but the penetration suffers because it expanders larger/faster. Nice review. Last time I used Silvertips was 20 years ago in 155gr 40S&W. It was actually wicked with a muzzle velocity of just over 1250 and 14 to 16 inches in organic gel every time from a G22 & 23.
TGD I've never liked any 147 other than HST & not shorter than 4". ORGANIC Bipeds & Pig Organic Gel is 17% more dense then clear gel...they expand more & penetrate way less tested in 41 Bad Guys SPD & compared to Organic Gel guess what both 13" avg penetration (NOT Through Bone) all but one got to .53-.60 REAL World expansion. This is ok as is WWB from 4" or longer PCCS IMO & I do have a Modern Meat Target Test w 147 Fiocchi vs 138 Syntech Defense coming! Leave comments
In a weird roundabout way I feel like you shooting Silvertips is a full circle kind of thing for you. I always felt as if the 115 gr. Silvertips performed as they were designed on soft targets (i.e. self defense work). The 1988 Miami-Dade FBI incident needed a scapegoat and they found it in the 115 grain Silvertips. As I recall there was an outcry on barrier (car door) performance and a cross lung shot on a methamphetamine loaded suspect who was dead before he realized he was dead and continued to fight until he pumped dry. The scape goated Silvertips crapped all over the reputation of the 9mm which ultimately lead to the development of your beloved 10mm. I do not think there was any development going into the 10mm before the Miami Dade incident but I may be wrong on that. Anyways- great video and the performance was about what I would expect out of 147 seeds at standard 9mm pressures. Hey look FBI, the bullet stayed intact and did what it was designed to do!
QUESTION: does anyone know if the 147 grain 9M are all subsonic? I have seen a few 147 grain 9M and so far all I have seen are rated as "slow movers" I haven't seen any super sonic 147 grain 9M if there is any can someone let me know about it thanks
Those ear piercers didn't perform to bad. I'll pry stick with my hst or gold dot though. Nice test thnx man

@@ThePenn7 probably do really well in that. Typically 147gr and short barrels don’t agree but I think these did well compared to most.
Try Fiocchi 147 Defense Dynamics or Critical Duty 124+P both in 50 round boxes

There are some +p 147 grain loadings that will probably pass 1100 fps from a 16" barrel, perhaps shorter...
