- With a unique situation of my own, I asked someone with experience helping others go through the immigration process to get some answers for those of you who have been asking.
Here is an In-depth interview with Paul a co-owner of Plan B Paraguay. We talk about the process of immigrating and the pro's and con's of living in Paraguay.

Paraguay is a great option. You can obtain The Paraguay Tax Free Residency Visa is initially issued for a period of 2 years. After this period of time you will be able to apply for permanent residence.
Im adopted and reclaimed citizenship by birthright last month. Paid my exceptional lawyer $1,600 and had my cédula in less than a week w permanent residency. Point is, please PAY the correct lawyer who has real connections. Don’t go through the system yourself. You will always be told there’s one more thing to do or 1 more bribe payment, etc.
Yes, that is exactly how Paraguay works. It’s worth paying someone to get it done. We ended up doing that when my husband didn’t have the time anymore to try it ourselves.

Back in Toronto in 2022 I've spoken to a group of German families who are migrating to Paraguay. They told me that there is a big community of Germans farming in the mountains of Paraguay and they are going there.
That's pretty neat. I wouldn't know exactly which part of Paraguay that would be but overall it's a very good place for farming.
There're actually several German colonies in different regions of the country. In the Chaco, an arid and dry area, almost a desert, looking like the Wild West of the US with cacti, etc., the Mennonites predominate; they are like the Amish but have adapted to modern things. They really developed the Chaco over the decades. Other regions where Germans settle are Independencia, in Eastern, hilly, and green Paraguay, and towards Encarnacion, e.g., Hohenau, Bella Vista, Obligado, in Southern Paraguay. Hohenau and surrounding towns were actually founded by German immigrants over 100 years ago. Having said all that, many Germans just Iive anywhere they like, such as areas near the capital, Asuncion where the best shopping, good restaurants, and entertainment are located, and in retirement communities such as San Bernardino, Aregua, etc., not too far from the capital,
@@jgonz260 Yes there are German as well as Mennonite colonies throughout. Its also becoming more common for some to leave the colonies and live outside in other areas.
Also all across Cordillera you may find German/Austrian/Swiss settlers now slowly spreading to Paraguari.

What about the "Multiple Entry" visa? When arriving at the airport you can select "Multiple Entry Visa", pay $160 for US citizens, (differing rates different countries) and you can stay for 10 Years. This is the simplest and easiest to get started from what I've read from the Gobierno de Paraguay website? They even have a PDF link for the application form so you can have it at the ready when you arrive?
Great information. One question: How do you work around the 2 factor authentication for transferring funds from Canada to Paraguay? Even for using Wise, you need the 2FA to confirm your identity. Thank you so much for your help. It is greatly appreciated.
What we have done so far is trading money with someone from Canada that has money in Paraguay. Obviously this is really only realistic if you have the connections to do that with. Transfer our money in Canada to them via etransfer to their Canadian account and they transfer money to our Paraguayan account that they have in Paraguay.
One thing to remember is a lot of banks in Paraguay want proof of where this came from as well to avoid laundering.

With all the craziness, corruption and incompetence in the US, going back to the 80s or 90s sounds great!
I have so often longed to live several decades ago, Paraguay I would say comes pretty close but corruption can't quite be escaped by moving here.

Question, would you or your husband assist new residents in finding housing of their wants or needs? Like if I got residency in Paraguay could I use you as a resource to find an inexpensive apartment or room in home in a safe area. Most people probably getting residency don’t know the city or suburbs well enough to know where they might want to settle down. Also does Asuncion have a monthly bus pass for unlimited rides throughout the city. 🌆

Exactly. The $5000 deposit requirement for residence ended so I've been looking for what it is now. I heard it's $75k deposit.

I have heard there are some restrictions or apprehensions for Asian country citizens, like Bangladesh /India /Pakistan/ Iran etc. Is that so ?
I have never heard of restriction before. I have heard that in Ciudad del Este there are many Asians living there.

Republicans hold strong family values most are God fearing believers that don’t believe in abortion or same sex marriage, if that’s your idea of far right then you are sadly mistaken.
