    Hey man! Been loving your videos lately and find them very informative and helpful. I'm getting into surf fishing for striper, and wanted to ask what rod length I should get. I'm just looking for a good all around surf and pier/jetty rod, and I'm choosing between an 8 foot or a 9 foot rod. Thanks

    • @GetReelBassFishing
      @GetReelBassFishing  28 дней назад +2

      Thanks man, I appreciate that. If you’re fishing more jetties and open beach then you are pier, go with a 10 foot. If you want to watch any video from last year on my channel, you’ll see the St Croix Seage. I’ve got 4 different models, the 9’ MMF, the 10’ MMF, the 10’6” MHMF and the 10’6” MMF. ALL, in my opinion, are great rods. I don’t typically go a full season without breaking a rod..and I abused ALL of them last year. They’re durable, strong, SUPER LIGHT WEIGHT, and honestly, the price is great for what you’re getting from it. (And if you do break it, St Croix’s warranty is amazing). I’ve linked the St Croix Seage rods in the description below this video, as well as here in the comments, amzn.to/458RtkB

    • @GetReelBassFishing
      @GetReelBassFishing  28 дней назад

      That is true! But hey, a fish is a fish. Maybe a heavier set up and jig head would have gotten the bait down quicker, and out of the blues view. Ya live and ya learn, right?

    Great to see ya back at the waters edge Paul.
    Them Blues have some sharp teeth , as you already know.
    I really like to see your videos and what’s going on down there , cause it’s soon to around here too.
    I can only fish the surf in the evenings if I still got time and the energy for it.
    Traffic is so gross around here and just like there. Hour and a half to get to the water because of traffic.
    Only twenty miles from Boston.
    Weekends I go home in the mountains and catch native brook trout. And some big one is what I might keep. Let the rest go to get bigger. Katadin is the cooler place to be.
    Still forties at night.
    That’s why the Stripers never go that far up the coastline. Too cold of waters.

    Hi, your content is amazing I’m just getting into fishing and I’m looking for an inshore rod and reel on the cheeper side, do you think that the Penn Battle 3 is good for a beginner?

    • @GetReelBassFishing
      @GetReelBassFishing  28 дней назад

      In my personal opinion, I would go with the St. Croix Triumph Inshore, MEDIUM HEAVY FAST (I’ll link it below) and then a Shimano Nasci 4000 (linked below as well). That would make a perfect beginner inshore set up. St. Croix has a great warranty on rods, so if you do something to it, just give them a call or email.

      Yes.
      But I prefer the Tsunami 6000 shield, guard or better.
      Great drag , awesome casting and never had a water issue with it.
      On the other end I also run a couple Saragossa. 5000 with a 11’ TFO and a Rain shadow 1209 with the 14,000.
      Only my opinion though. Bang for the buck , Tsunami combo at Basspro or Dicks is fine.

    • @GetReelBassFishing
      @GetReelBassFishing  27 дней назад

      I would stick to the 15 lb braid, yes. You can do a lot with that! Any bigger, you sacrifice line capacity and casting distance. Any smaller you risk popping off and snapping on larger fish. 🙌🏼🙌🏼

      Hopefully if your around me , you keep your comments to yourself. I don’t mind a chat of what I might have did wrong. I like the lesson and appreciate it.
      But if it goes onward with bad words ? Hopefully you can swim while trying to hold your teeth in your mouth.
      I don’t like rude people that don’t know nothing about what they’re talking about.
