Many saints historically have lived and died with the veil of mystery. St Blane is definitely one of those individuals. In this video we look at the history and architecture within the vallum, and learn some of story of this Saint's life and times.

Been at St Blames a few times , fortunately there were no clouds on Arrans mountains so it was a brilliant view. Once when I went I heard a voice reading from a religious book and found an elderly lady sitting in the chapel with no-one else there. I felt I was intruding and left.

We had glorious weather last year when we were on Arran itself. Bute was changeable, but weather doesn't bother me, I fill the boot with layers and I've heard that skin is very waterproof 🤣

Great to see it is kept in excellent condition! The Marquis must have realised that it would not exist much longer if he did not do remedial work on it. The monks and nuns being separated in death, must have been to ensure that they remained apart, even in death, to stop them breaking their vows of chastity! That view of The Holy Isle is just majestic, and I hope that you'll do more videos of it too! As usual a very informative video, and a joy to watch! ......Tich.

Scots must take for granted that veering off the beaten path just a bit can present them with ancient wonders like this. Here in the Americas most remains like this were destroyed and lost giving generations the impression our only history is that of European conquest. Thanks for another great video!

You are most welcome! Yes, the indigenous folk of the Americas caught a horribly raw deal.

I have never heard about the segregated burials between men and women. I so enjoy your wonderful and well researched stories (folklore) of the areas that you are vlogging.

We are lucky in the Celtic regions that there is as much folklore as fact for every place I explore 🤣Thanks for watching!

What a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing more of your trip! The views are stunning! I enjoyed hearing about the history of the area. I too had never heard of men of women being in different parts of the grave yard.

Is it possible to indicate on a map where you are on different islands? Is this a difficult request .. its so interesting..

Its quite a hard one to do, but if you are planning to visit, I'm sure we could sort a sensible itinerary in order for you to explore the sites.

I didn't know about segregating men and women in the graveyard before. Enjoyed hearing about the wonders St Blane was said to have acheived, an interesting man by all accounts.
