Hi. I was wondering if you guys have had the chance to try out the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 camera yet. I don't represent them (or sponsored by them) but bought one recently and as I'm very much involved in paranormal investigation myself was wondering how it compares to its bigger, more cinematic, cousins? Thanks for reaching out, we haven’t shot on the DJI pocket system so we really can’t speak to their qualities and quirks, we use DJI drones and love the results. The pocket 3 has a 1” sensor so it’s potentially better than something like a GoPro in low light, it would be an interesting test to see how it’s smaller but newer sensor compares to something like the FS 100’s super 35 sensor! As far as we know the DJI Pocket 3 is a great camera, perhaps not the best for low light without external illumination. Sorry we can’t be of better help.
I don’t know I just feel that digital video especially on RUclips looks very flat and non-three-dimensional I think it has something to do with the CMOS sensor because when I look at videos made with my Panasonic HVX205 which has a CCD sensor the videos look much more three-dimensional and richer. I have been seeing a lot of interest lately in CCD sensors. What do you think.
Interesting observation, you can definitely get a shallow depth of field on cmos sensors, they are faster and newer then ccds, lighting, focal length all play a part in crafting the final image. Could be a case of simple user preference. While we have shot on the Panasonic DVX and DCV 30’s we have not had the pleasure of testing a HVX205, big fans of analog over here!🎥
Bro I have the same setup can you please oh please do a tutorial on how you get this to balance on that gimbal because I can’t get mine too for anything pls and thanks
If your trying to balance the Fs100 on the RoninS specifically, it comes down to what lens you are trying to shoot with and adding enough weight at the back of the camera. The external hand grip can be detached and having a centrally mounted mic helps add some weight to the body. We only fly the fs100’s with mini pancake prime stills lenses or some of the Sony Af lenses from their stills line as they are super light, and we try to always use the large NP-F970 batteries as they add some weight at the back. Apart from that it just takes a good gimbal balance and some practice.

No the Fs100 doesn’t feature Sony’s night shot. As it is an interchangeable lens camera, you could mount an Astroscope to your lens, which would probably produce some awesome footage but as is it works really well in low light conditions.
Sony fs 100u steal good in 2020 ?
As 12 year old camera, it obviously has it’s limitations, the highest recording quality is 1080p and the 8bit AVAC codec, is not very robust if you need to do a lot of post production color grading or adding effects. That said, you can record some lovely images with the Fs100 and it has a more film like quality then some DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. Depending on your needs, it’s still very capable.

Unfortunately 1080p is the highest resolution the Fs100 offers, it’s big brother the fs700 offers 4K 4:2:2 output via sdi output.
