We used this video in my anthropology university class as an example of why gendered forms of communication are NOT true, but are portrayed in media as being true. Ironic.

Yes, Steve is telling his great advice as him and Ryan are looking each other in the eye and Ryan not Teresa is nodding through out the conversation. Ironic.

I’m not suggesting that everything in this video is gospel, but you can’t sit here and say that men and women don’t communicate differently. Because if you were saying that you’d either have to do some more objective observation or you’re just lying.

Women ask questions bc they know not to behave aggressively because it is very rude.
Female children are even corrected when they say " give me this" their parents will respond with " how do you say that?".... then the female child will correct and say " may I please have...?"
It's literally trained into girls from the time they learn to talk how to NOT be aggressive or demanding. Telling women then to change when speaking to men after decades of training is not going to work. It just irritates them.

My brother and I were raised alongside my 3 sisters and we were all taught simple manners such as “yes ma’am, no ma’am, thank you ma’am” and so on. I don’t think girls are generally taught to have manners and boys are allowed to speak however they want, no in my family and not where I’m from at least.
