hugs a day make us friendlier. As a neurologist, he will enlighten us about the differences between men and women.

@@spartansquid5931 I wouldn’t say woman are superior. But, in a marriage, with children, a house to run, children in different activities, doctors appointments, etc.. The wife is doing most of the work. I did all that and made sure the bills were paid on time. We both worked outside the home. When he came home, he was done, except for the weekend yard work. I didn’t sit down until long after the kids went to bed. Not all men are like that. But, after being a widow for many years, I’ve learned that a woman can function fine without a man. I raised my children alone. If the wife dies, the widower will be looking for a spouse soon after his wife dies because he can’t take care of himself. My boyfriend, a widower, will admit to that.

I am sorry, but this is so wrong. Natural selection (this is how nature does things) results in survival of the fittest. A simple observation is that we have now around 8 billion people on Earth and they were all born by men and women getting together and "connecting". From the point of view of natural selection, this is the only way of "connecting" nature cares about. Therefore, nature did perfect in connecting genders in a way it cares about. Now, you come up with your own, different from nature's, definition of "connect" and wonder why nature did not connect genders your way??? Is not it arrogant, so to speak? :)

@@velizhan I agree with this point of view and in fact it is what happens. Nature cares about something we probably don't care about, and we care about sth nature doesn't care about. I wanted to say, I personally think his research is a bit incomplete, at least according to how much he shared with us. He talked about some major differences, but I wonder if those differences in male and female brains, and mental development, has anything to do with social roles and how we raise our boys to be a certain way, vs. our girls to be a certain way. For instance he talked about IQ and he talked about attraction. I personally know smart guys and very nice ones, but it's a combination of intelligence, his character, and his physical looks that make him attractive. I know on the other hand, men might be more attracted to a physically attractive female in their lense.. however I don't think men are too different when it comes to having the combination of beauty, intelligence, and character that would make women attractive. But the way attractiveness in a society is viewed as for a man or a woman, differ according to social constructs and how various societies come to view it. For instance, we know North American Society is a hyper sexualized and Pornified One, could that influence the way men and women see attraction? I find it's important to look at societies, cultures, and religions and see how much they all play a role. Interestingly, in my religion ( Islam), women cover themselves, but interact with the world just like men, aka no difference in their lives. So when a man wants to chose a Muslim woman as his partner, he can see some basic physical attraction in her, but the rest has to come from her character and her intelligence.. I find that very interesting going back to what he said about attraction. These men who's only choice of a partner is a Muslim women, are forced to look at more than just physical attraction. That's just a point I wanted to make as cultures and religions influence us.
Also, in terms of the graph he showed, depicting men and women's IQ difference, feel like global sexism and patriarchy that has limited women's expression of her intellect, which is still prominent culturally in North America, could potentially explain the difference in male and female IQ. I kinda wish he could have looked at the influence around us which do grow and shape our brain. And we know, no matter where u go, almost everywhere on earth (as far as my knowledge) men and women are viewed differently, and therefore, have social expectations that differ and even upbringings that may also differ.. I can't help but imagine how this changes the way our brain grow, develop, and ultimately alter our behaviors as both men, and women.

+Polarbi Anarchy I think the information given could be interpreted more to say that men/women didn't so much create the world as did biology and how societies genetic makeup was influenced by evolution.
I think the talk was valid before the response of dislikes from someone group (one could assume men, but making assumptions would be rash no matter how likely one believes they are). However if we view the talks information without the conclusions drawn one could argue that they stereotype typical women's behavior just as much. The picture of women having to be the one who holds everything together, who has to stay quiet and well behaved. The women who is more or less made to be a mother (oxytocin is key in bonding with one's offspring), and who aren't ever going to be the smartest in the world, because only men can be the greatest geniuses.
The truth is it's neither of those things, it's just one professionals observations as to where our current level of understanding is as to how the genetic differences in men and women affect their behavior. Obviously he does take the extra effort to interpret the information for us, which because of the focus on oxytocin happens to paint women more favorable by our modern sensibilities.
What I think is important to keep in mind is that the scope is limited, which is a good thing. If he expanded the scope to all the genetic differences in men and women he would have written a two thousand page book that far fewer people would have learned from; even in that scenario he still wouldn't have been able to do justice to the subject, and today's knowledge on the subject isn't even advanced enough to back up that claim.
The only issue here is that the title makes people think when clicking on it that they are going to get a complete answer as to how men and women are different. For future notice when one is about to click on a video, if the claim in the title is massive and the length of video is 13 minutes, assume it's an exaggeration.

I never understood at least in my situation. I was expected to be a " 50 /50 "partner finacially, yet 100% of household chores, groceries, child care, meal planning and cooking 3 square meals a day, and or packing delicious, nutritious meals, expected to leave work to do the childcare in case of emergencyor sickness or behavior issues, do all the doctors appointments and dentist appointments, teacher conferences and take time off work to do it, plus be a mother and teach right from wrong. After school activities, juggling time and schedules. My husband mowed the lawn not even once a week in summer. And shoveled when needed in winter, fixed household items. Each task taking less than an hour. How is this 50/50? I worked the same hours as him. Cleaning, cooking and childcare are life skills, not gender roles. Some men arent up to date I suppose. The uneven gender distributions in certain fields aren't bad things in themselves; they're produced by people making their own choices. It's when biases show up that are caused by people's choices being restricted artificially that we should speak out.

I never quite understood this discussion. We are the fruit of our biology whether we like it or not, and also of our skills as a species. I say this because men and women have proven to have neurophysiologically different brains, in that they do not differ from other species, and these differences refer to different abilities as well as in other living species. Living beings of different sexes, although of the same species, play different roles in the struggle for survival and perpetuation. In the fight for survival, strength and physical resistance are determining factors, and the human species does not escape this rule. It is natural, then, that this ability has to say "dictating the rules" and the more present, the difference between the members will be more accentuated. Nevertheless, men and women fighting for the same goal have divided tasks adapted to their biological structures over time. The human species rationalizes their instincts and needs, and from there turns skills into advantages, that is, I am "better" and not just "different with other developed skills". The human being needs to judge and place the other in the "frame of importance of the species" to the point of making men more important than women, among many other judgments dictated by force. Man has never really understood the difference although he says he protects diversity. Sorry but this is the discussion.

@foog guckle. How do you know to what comments I was referring? Pointing out your belief that someone is a quack is not misogynistic - some of language being used to insult both him and women suggests an attitude. Example from one poster

No matter what you believe about him the language used by this poster suggests a dislike of women. I swear all the time, but I generally do not use it to abuse anyone else (I use the word generally because I think I did call my ex-husband a few choice names on a few occasions, of which I am not proud and am sorry). Look at successful women in high positions in business, almost all act like men, ambitious like men, take failure personally like men, confrontational like men, they stand chin up, stare right into the eye like men. And probably for this very reason, many seem to be unsuccessful in their personal relationships or have very "formal" dialog with their significant other. I wouldn't disagree with the quality of being a woman isn't really in sync with how the world turns today but saying people who don't take things personal become better in business is utter nonsense.

@ 7:00 Women are nicer than men because they release more oxytocin? So oxytocin is the basis for morality? Move over Susan Neimann, philosophy has been wasting our time for three thousand years.
Correlation is not causality! Women are defined as "nicer" (No explanation why.) and since they the release more oxytocin while doing nice things, therefore oxytocin is a "moral substance" and that explains why women are more moral? It is a closed loop. Moreover, the real moral challenges are not so simple or "feel good" the examples of his testing.
@ 9:40 Evolution dictates that because there are males with elevated intelligence, that the other men are condemned to lower intelligence? Is this because the "God of Evolution" knows and adheres to the Law of Averages? Is there logic hidden in there? Causality? It makes no sense, and there is no discussion on the way "intelligence is measured" which likely would offer more insight.
He has set up normal to be XX. Not one example gives XY the edge, because his baseline is that XX is the purest form of humanity. He probably learned this from his mom. In the end, you always find what you are looking for.
This guy is not objective, he is a pandering schmuck. The diffferences between men and women are way overblown, and his ridiculous graph of the intelligence between the genders is a prime example.

It would be as stupid as the Feminist idea that because some men are violent and ignorant therefore all men are ignorant and violent. This is the dominant Feminist straw-man that you are promoting to advance the absurd notion that until women are accepted and promoted by men as "superior" then women have not achieved "equality."
I enjoyed all your other comments here, as they are banal and doctrinaire as this one. If men do not like you, it is not because you are a woman, it is because you have this perverted idea of entitlement. Do not globalize this to include "all women."

I have little doubt that there are enough guys out there that think with their dicks to fawn over you. And surely there are plenty of white-knights and manginas longing to get your panties off... But like actually you???? Why? When you have so little regard for men? You are also somehow locked into this bizarre idea that I am "woman bashing." This mangina says that women are more altruistic than men because they release more oxytocin. It is flat out a stupid way to measure altruism, and moreover, makes the subsequent assumption that women are not merely equal to men but better! To point this out is not woman bashing, it is egalitarian! There are great women, and horrible women. There are great men and horrible men.
And if you think you are going to insult me by calling me "Grandpa," fill your boots. You are committing "ageism" as well as sexism. So now I am going to respect you??? Okay, back to his talk, within 40 seconds: I quote: "Guess what I found? A lot of bad boys... not many bad girls..."
Is not the speaker himself male bashing? And so, what are his the basis for this judgement? Not behavior, but levels of oxytocin. What kind of junk science/moral thinking is this? Nothing more than his bias that women are inherently superior. He doesn't even articulate the difference between "good" and "bad." Nowhere do I say women are categorically inferior.
I am involved with father's rights. The fight is not for "supremacy" it is a fight for equality. My biggest supporter is a woman, and she has been an angel of mercy for many men. The best judgement that I received in court was by female judge, (and the worst was also a woman). I will never categorically slag women. And my fight at this point is to allow my daughter (a young woman) to have a voice in her future. The fight really comes down to a position that fathers have a different, and valid capacity to nurture children... that great icon of being a woman.
There are many great mothers, who typically accept 50/50 access, and there are controlling, vindictive, and insecure mothers, who try to control and alienate their children from the father. There are many fathers and children out there who are in grave pain at being isolated by the mother because of the misguided stereotypes propagated by people like this guy, namely that women are inherently good, and men are inherently bad.
Note: there are rare cases of fathers alienating their children. This is difference is generally accepted as more because of cultural opportunities than native virtue.

what reasonable men can't accept is the step beyond equality and the seemingly vengeful nature of getting equal and surpassing that to the point where the tables have turned and seem to be backed by an attitude that men did it to women for so long so take that all of you males. by the way, my use of the term "backstabbing cunt" is just direct language, not to be mistaken for a dislike of women. i use the term prick to deccribe men at times, and i don't have a dislike for men.
Haven't you ever seen what happens when the female bonding thing breaks down? it's a little more than just anecdotal. it has resulted in women giving it as a reason as to why they don't like working in a predominantly female environment.

I am very frustrated. This guy knows what he is talking about in terms of biology, but that doesn't mean he should be drawing conclusions about it without the proper research. We constantly have it drilled into our heads that men and women are biologically different, which we are, but not to the extent everyone makes it out to be.
This talk is especially frustrating because he makes women out to be perfect creatures due to biology and men out to monsters for the same reason. There is no mention of gendered upbringing or that women are discouraged from aggressive behaviors while its reinforced in men. He also doesn't seem to think that women have any testosterone, which is a problem because then we would have no sex drive.
He talks about biology like it is the only factor in how people develop and interact, but there is a huge piece of the puzzle that he is missing and its called socialization. Thinking that everything is because of biology is dangerous. It can lead to discrimination (against women because we are "genetically weaker" or against men because they are "genetically programmed to be monsters"). And it can lead to thinking that someone just can't help making the decision they did, so why not let them off the hook entirely instead of trying to fix the behavior (preferably through some sort of rehabilitation program as opposed to punishment). This type of biologically-oriented thinking is what keeps racist and sexist myths circulating and what prevents people from taking any kind of constructive action against it. Because why should we if no one can help the way they act anyway?

erin jessee incorrect analysis of what was said. Where did he explicitly state that everything is the consequence of biology? He was just describe the results of his research.
