This DAM was our favorite spot to visit, or at least drive through on the way to visit our friends in Rustenberg. We left this beautifull country in year 2000, when it became obvious, that the new "damagement" is unable to govern by positive apartheid the country. Thank you South Africa for 25 years of nice life we spent there, God bless you and ALL your peoples. Best regards from Czech republic, formerly Czechoslovakia.
Stunning footage, pity up close its a waterlogged landfill now. Was there two weeks ago, it stank of raw sewage. I hope one day its cleaned up and is a nice place to visit again. So Sad.
Very lekker Dirk!. Maybe you could shoot a video at the Bronkhorstspruit dam wall. I took a bike ride out there recently and was surprised how pretty it is. A bit further downstream is a gorge with steep rocks. A favourite spot for the rock climbers and also very pretty.
The hyacinth on that dam is completely out of control. It covers hundreds of acres of the total surface area. But it is a beaufiful part of Gauteng . The roads are not too bad but will need repairs after the rains in 2021
I remember going here 1975..lived in Pretoria and I remember a go cart track and something they called warm baths past the dam . Wonder if it's they are still there.
@High Praise Projects - Anywhere but within 10km of an airfield/airport, over people, any private property and public roads. The local SAMAA (South African Model Aircraft Association) club is normally a safe zone.
Hi Dirk...very nice video. I would like to buy a drone this year, but people say it's a waste of many, because South African drone laws are very strict. You don't seems to have any problems...what are your thoughts on this?
I am glad you enjoyed the video Nick, thank you. These videos were all made as a novice before I was formally employed in the commercial sector. The South African laws are very strict with good reason and in the interest of safety. It was only afterwards I realised how many of them I was breaking, and the risks I did not even realise at the time. Buying a drone is always a good idea and great fun if you are passionate about photo- or videography. You just have to be realistic about where you are allowed to fly and the risk involved. Getting your RPL is indeed a waste of money if you do not intend to become a commercial drone pilot. A RPL is only valid if flown under a registered ROC (RPAS Operating Certificate) holder aka registered commercial drone operating company. You can read more on the SACAA (South African Aviation Authority) website at this link. www.caa.co.za/Pages/RPAS/Remotely%20Piloted%20Aircraft%20Systems.aspx
In the early 1960's our class was struck over the knuckles for spelling Hartbeespoort Dam incorrectly as Hartebeespoortdam as you are. As English speaking students we were taught properly those days.
Awesome vid, Dirk. Thanks for this. I don't wish for anything less than building myself a house, buying a boat and a drone for myself when I think of Harties.

Hi Strombladekiin. Jip, ek het ongelukkig die geleentheid gemis.

Hi Dirk, any new videos on the recent beautiful rains we’ve had in 2021, I believe Gauteng alone experienced 2m of rain over the past month.🤷🏿♂️
I want to visit the place Sir any Info please 👏
You're good at this Dirk, any thoughts of covering all the dams in the country?
Thank you Hosia. I try doing a video whenever I pass by one of the dams.

Exactly, even in 80"s
@@shantanaicker6595 still hearing incorrect usage of name to this day.
Hi Dirk, it appears that you have control over great distances? What's the limit?
Hi Kevin. 5km if you have line of sight. Practically never needed more than 2 to 3km.
Hi Dirk, Are you using a DJI phantom 4? Great footage
Thanks Frank. Yes Phantom 4.
Awesome
Wanneer sal die hiasinte eendag verdwyn?
Dit is n baie mooi dam net jammer daar word niks gedoen om hom skoon te maak nie as dit nie vir inwoners was nie was die dam al so vol gemors gewees
Dirk, watse drone gebruik jy?
Hi Barry, I used the DJI Phantom 4 standard model for these videos.
Use to be wonderful, that changed in new s.a, everybody parks next to the road and drink alcohol and leave their mess just like that
Awesome vid, Dirk. Thanks for this. I don't wish for anything less than building myself a house, buying a boat and a drone for myself when I think of Harties.
What's your facebook page called?
Hi Mona. Only a personal FB page.
