    As former call center rep i constantly had to choose between call metrics and quality customer service...Regarding peoples health. Not pretty. Needless to say they had one of the most engaging training programs. A talented trainer can really set the tone, such a shame the organization couldn't follow through. Thankyou for your advice

    I've been a technical trainer for over 20 years and one thing I have found is that engineers typically are not very good technical trainers. While they know the product or software inside and out, they don't know how to talk to "normal" people- and I say that with all the love in my heart. Regardless of the type of trainer you are, you must be able to relate the information to all levels of knowledge and learning styles. If you cannot "dumb down" information to teach someone, then you don't know the information.

      Agreed! I love my SMEs but they ain't trainers! 😄

    I'm excited to hear you say compassion!
    I had an interview for a management position with a previous employer. I was asked what trait was important for the job. When I said compassion, thru looked puzzled. I went on to elaborate. I was already a supervisor and served as an acting Technical Instructor.
    I did not get the job, but continued to be in the top 5% of teams in the site.
    The company end up closing that location do to performance.

      No wonder! If they couldn't recognize the value of compassion in that role, I'd say that's a red flag! Thanks for sharing!

      @@yourlearningcareer Like telling someone that they'll be transferred to a different department. As they had much bond with the current Team, it would be great to break the mood but what way should we do it.

    • @yourlearningcareer
      @yourlearningcareer  Год назад +2

      @@christiandejuan8698 That sounds like more of a management question which isn't necessarily my area of expertise. As an employee, I'd want to be told in an honest way. I'd want to know why I was being transferred. And then if there are any benefits to this transfer, I'd want to know those. Is this a promotion? Better opportunity? More variety? More visibility? etc...

    Thanks for the video! I find myself creating a course on a set of skills I already know and practice. It's a big subject, I attended a 3 day course a few years ago, and that covered the fundamentals.
    Do you perhaps have any pointers for how to prepare? I feel like I'll definitely need notes in class to keep myself on track. So I'm making a trainers guide, but I fear I don't know how to do it well... So I worry about confusing future me, as well as the whole class.

      Typically, I put my speaking notes into the notes section of PowerPoint. For practicing, if possible, I will go through the presentation in whatever room I’ll be delivering it and practice there. Otherwise I’ll practice out loud in my office.
