Speaking of D-Zone and H-Doom, the same company that released D-Zone released a disc of Heretic levels called... H-Zone. If they released that in Japan a lot of customers would end up disappointed.
According to _Doomworld,_ "DOOM HOCKEY!!!!!!!!" was made by a guy named Seth Cohn in 1994. Seth Cohn's main claim-to-fame is that he and his brother, Dale, apparently inspired id Games to include SPISPOPD as a cheat because they endorsed Jay Wilbur's idea for the game title very heavily, during the Usenet days. So, that's kind of funny.
I remember having one of these types of disks, all it had was the texture of the bone-flesh wall on the disk and nothing else, like the Master Levels disk. On it it had hundreds of wads, ranging from little things like a room full of Commander Keens, to a wrestling wring where you fought the audience of demons. Hell, there was even a Bevis and Butthead sound wad for the original levels!
Joel really shouldn't bother with the other compilations since most of them contain the same levels and even have multiple copies of several wads. The part where he goes through the MIDI wads is pure gold though.
He starts it off with Cringe, one of my favorites back in the day. I'm not sure why I like it so much, but it's probably because it's a good map pack disguised as a shitty one. The guy who made it (Mark Klem) also did the music for Wacky Wheels and a bunch of late 90s/early 2000s Doom megawads and his style is immediately identifiable. Lots of trumpet shredding with delay effects and 1/16th note basslines.

I remember in 95 I bought this disk at Frys when I was 10 years old, I think its the same one. For the life of me I couldn't get the damn thing to work. At least it looks like I wasn't missing out on much.

I snatched a bunch of those at a computer store bargain bin back in the late 90's, most for between a few cents and up to $2 to $3 bucks. No way I'd pay more than thrift store/garage sale prices - no matter how rare they are now. Seeing these for $20, $30 and even over $100 dollars sometimes just makes me chuckle, lol. I have the D!zone 150, D!Zone collector's edition, D!Zone Gold, D!Match, D!Zone 2, H!Zone, etc. Probably paid less than $10 dollars, total for the entire lot of them back in the late 1990's. A few gems here and there, but otherwise, a bunch of shovelware/garbage wads.

I bet 90% of the people who talk shit about these maps/wads never made a doom level in their life nor could make one half as decent as these with the old school map builders of that golden era. Seeing these shitty maps really makes you appreciate the amazing 90s wads that still hold up to this very day such as MMs, scythes, requiems, dystopias, etc etc..
