Worth noting: the male lead Yinfan is actually an interesting character -- sense of humor, arrogance, indifference façade hiding recklessness, thinks the rules don't apply to him, etc. And the two leading actors are not terrible in their roles. With a better script, we could be looking at something completely different. All being said, my notes only cover the first 10 episodes. If, after ep 10, the drama turns out to be a masterpiece of character and plot, definitely let me know.
I haven't watched a cdrama for a long time & this is one of my reasons. I hate how they make these characters "overtly childish/annoying" for no reason, and how they expect us the viewers to interpret it as "cute"🙄
To be honest, I'm tired of romantic teacher-student relationship in C-dramas at this point. The only pure teacher-student relationship that moved me this year is in The Blood of Youth. The student (Wuxin) is the target of hatred of everyone because his father killed a lots of people. The teacher was the only one who took Wuxin in under his wing, protected him and guided him on how to live a better life than seeking vengeance. The farewell scene has me in tears. This is the kind of relationship that I want to see more of on-screen and not the same old forbidden love.
@@mohamedahmed-mr8ne You can try Rise of Phoenixes, Love Like the Galaxy, or anything based on Louis Cha's works. The Long Ballad is also watchable, though there are some flaws along the way.
I think you are right about her being a pet more than a child part. At least with a child, you should be working with social boundaries. Always a joy to listen to your videos. ;D
Kudos to you for actually making it to ten episodes! I clocked out around ep 4 or 5, I think. Say what you will about Bai Zi Hua (and I can still say A LOT about him) but at least the man tried to teach Qian Gu! Really enjoyed this video :D always interesting to hear your thoughts!
As always enjoyed your commentary. And wow..... This girl is really annoying. An adult women acting like a spoiled child is not attractive to the audiences. Charector like these, I try to avoid.
Highly recommend Faithful, if you haven't started it already. It's a period revenge drama, has some suspense and thrill. It has great visuals and acting and the fact that there's no romance is refreshing. 👌🏽
It's okay when characters are a little bit childish at first if it's reasonable thou, for example because of their background. I like watching their development process through the series and Xiao Lanhua and Fengjiu definitely did grow up and... tbh these two are ones of my favourite characters 😀😀 As usual, thank you for you review! An it was nice to see Bai Zihua again XDD
Omg I don’t get what’s the appeal with those childish characters and romance with them. It’s ok if their love interest is also silly or young like them. But when it’s parent like role it’s bruh
I just want to say i love you so much and every time I tried watching your video during the work hours, I always ended up having to pause and took a deep breathe to collect myself😂😂 You're just so awesome!!!
@@_kpoplicious Lost You Forever has a mostly logical storyline and characters that have motivations other than just being love-sick idiots. The FL isn't a blusing stupid kid and all the 3 ML are problematic. But there is an actual plot underneath all the hurt and pain It kept making me think "I wish they had just left the FL be a peaceful medic in the small village" LOL (we wouldn't have a story) Warning: It has 2 seasons and only one has been aired yet The lotus casebook has become my favourite after Word of Honour I must confess

It only goes downhill 😅
@@Anantax3 I kind of want to follow it now just to see how bad it could get XD
I spent episodes going Die Chong Tzi Die! Does that tell you anything?
Sorry, I couldn't get beyond Ep 8.😢
You killed me with the "we know it's problematic, and we don't care" for ROCH xD
Yang Guo and Dragon Maiden handle their scandal like no one else😂
Haha! That’s exactly how I felt for ROCH 😅

Yes, exactly, totally not cute 🤨
You could consider adding Shi Ying from The Longest Promise to your teacher collection 😅
He's... actually a good teacher to most of his students.
Interesting XD Noted.
the keyword is MOST.... isn't it?😅
Yes, I like that "The longest promise" did better a lot things typicali xianxian. Even elimated jelaous 2nd FL.

Bai zi hua is brought up till today🤣 the standard for comparison
Yes, for both sides of the spectrum: indifferent male leads and mushy ones🤣
I wonder why writers think infantilising women is so attractive?
My favorite type of historical Chinese drama are one where you be female character are strong and don’t need no man to fight their battle.
@@mohamedahmed-mr8ne I personally love dramas where both men and women play equal parts in whatever battle there is.
True, there's a difference between taking care of someone and babysitting. This guy is not even a good babysitter, tbh XD
@@quippequest any recommendations?

I know is problematic, so when I see at the Synopsis of the drama the words "teacher" and "student" i just avoid watching it. 😂
I went in thinking that it would be an improved version of "Journey of Flower". I need to apologize to Bai Zihua...

Thanks :D
Yes, the drama just can't seem to make up its mind whether to make her a pet/child or a love interest. It's hopeless😂

Looks like they also had no idea how their female lead would look to the audience 😶

Yes, agreed. I actually like Fengjiu's development from a childish fox to someone who can be patient and puts her duty above her love life.

How so? Should I check it out? I was going to watch Lotus Casebook first. Let me know your thoughts on lost you forever
Thanks for the rec, I'll note this one down :D

Your teacher, the subject, of (immortal) schoolgirls' fantasies....
Could you analyse Journey to love?
If I remember Bai zihua got shirtless by his student hahaha
Did she do that to him? It's been so long I can't remember this XD
Wow it's very illogical and cringe
Kudos for watching more of 2 episodes of this fuming pile of c..ap! Written and filmed for housemaids who left school after 4 years.
Miss your video I come so late because I can't found it haha
anyone know the second problematic drama's name?
The one where they cross swords? Return of the Condor Heroes.
I missed you
Hi there! Great to see you here :D
For me orchid and chongzi are most annoying characters
To be fair, I think Orchid does have solid reasons to be childish. But yes, her character can grate on your nerves sometimes XD
