I sometimes feel very awkward because i couldn't enjoy this drama at all, while it turned out to be a global hit. I think there were a lot of cringey moments (and i tolerate some cringe very well, but not this kind. It just made me uncomfortable.) I think there was a fake mine scare in one of the episodes that made me drop the drama for good. I really disliked this kind of male lead, and this kind of 'badass female lead' whose abilities and general personality switches depending on what the script wants from her.
Yes, I was also a bit surprised at the "cringy" moments. Usually, Song Hye-kyo's dramas are more subtle than this😅, even Full House was more subtle than this.
I would love to hear you Quip about F4 Thailand and Boys over Flowers (Kdrama) It's an interesting study of how our view of the poor pure FL has evolved and also how dramas have changed over time
I have a hard time watching any drama or keep up with the ones I had the courage to try, but your videos always make me laugh so hard ! If I had to choose between watching drama or watching your videos, I would choose you (and I mostly already do so....). You're amazing !
ughh this reminds me of why i dropped the drama during the first episode. i thought it sounded very interesting, but the dialogues, the interactions, and the stereotypes made it unbearable. dont get me wrong i have a certain tolerance there, many dramas have some kind of stereotyping, but i just disliked how it goes down in this show. something about the heavy glorification of war and being a soldier and the incredible unprofessionalism of the hospital staff to make way for the lead couple to interact in an exciting way
Yes, I'm surprised as to how much suspension of disbelief we have to do in order to get on board with the lead couple. Did not expect that at all with this drama XD
@@quippequest exactly!!! it looks so earnest and idk deep. as if these two could be bonding over taking care of people in a way thats sometimes mentally and physically taxing to the extreme and heavily glorified in public, about how dehumanizing this job is. but no
I love SHK & SJK as actors but, I will die on the hill that this is not their best dramas. I love the comedic momenst as clips but I couldn't finish it for some reason. Note this, people: SJK best drama is The Innocent Man (Vincenzo is good too but I cringed too much at his Italian) and SHK's best drama is almost everything before DOTS (until The Glory which is now definitely her best). Another unpopular opinion: DOTS success is due to a very successful marketing and the fact that these two actors are really nice to look at.
Yes, agree. I haven't seen any drama with Song Joong-ki, but Song Hye-kyo has definitely done better dramas. Even Full House is more nuanced and subtle than this, and that says something😂
An actually good kdrama is Six Flying Dragons, which came out just before DoTS. It still managed to hold its own against DoTS for popularity, that's how amazing it it. Some similarities with Rise of the Phoenixes too. I think you will like it.
i watched this drama back in 2018. it was so so bad, i don't think i'd be able to finish it if i started it today. there are far better romance dramas out there. just wild how popular it is
Sorry if this is unrelated to the video, but I was looking around for new Chinese dramas to watch and came across your channel. Any historical drama recommendations for someone who has only watched the three kingdoms series (both 2010 and 1994)?
You can try Nirvana in Fire, The King's War (2012), The Great Revival, Rise of Phoenixes (though beware of the last 5 episodes if you go into this one).
I love Quippe Quest rants. It’s like she reads my mind and eloquently explains it in an entertaining video 😂
Glad I could do that😂

You're not the only one. That is not a healthy relationship and everybody set them as their couple goals making me 🥴😰😳😲😠

it's these kinds of comments which make me rethink if I should be watching a drama 😅 I've already seen 6 eps

Thanks! Glad my butchering of dramas can entertain you XDD
Love the OST. Never got past the first episode.😊
Let's all root for a tragedy every time the ML disrespects the FL. Let's make a change guys! 💪💪💪😂
LoL, flip that phone. How many phones will I break trying to copy this?
A lot of phones must have broken when they filmed that scene XD
somehow I can't watch this drama now without thinking that the actors are divorced now..
I completely didn't know they were married until recently🤣
It's the laughing for me lmao🤣🤣🤣

@QuippeQuest can you do a review for TILL THE END OF THE MOON??? im so curious about ur take (and puns!) 😂

This "drama"? No. Just no. Watched it all and regretted every second.
Watching Song Hye Kyo being graceful isn't bad, but yeah, the premise of the drama does have problems.
@@quippequest *sigh* You're so much nicer than me....and my comment was over the top
I love jong ki but I barely finish it the first time . I don't go rewatch this drama, and I rewatch lots of drama.
Lol thanks for reminding me why I didn't finish this show
I'm 6 eps in and can't really get into to but I also kinda want to like it.. I am kinda interested in the 2nd couple though
A lot drama make no sense😊 but i lite when she tell them it make me laugh 😂😂😂😂 crazy
I remember when this came out...I don't remember why I didn't watch it...and never got around to it.....hmm neat.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it out :D
