Having seen the documentary, it would have been a very trippy movie. It would have been interesting to see. I just don’t know if it would have been good

On November 22 2021, a rare edition of Alejandro Jodorowsky's storyboard for his megalomaniac film project based on the novel Dune was auctioned at a Christie's auction in Paris. The estimated proceeds were between 25,000 and 30,000 euros. After a bidding war between two candidates, an American won the argument. He pays more than seventy-five times the estimated amount. The auction was knocked off at no less than 2,660,000 euros!
That sale was complete nonsense. IIRC the buyers were some crypto bro's who almost certainly bid against themselves to overinflate the value of the book in order to then sell images from it as NFT's. They were total idiots who didn't realise that buying the book wouldn't give them ownership of the copyrighted content in it lol. Another copy sold a few years about for $50k.
Calling Dune Part One and Two “conventional” is a bit of a stretch. And to say it lacked ambition is an extreme falsehood. Just because he didn’t involve shit eating dolphin toilets doesn’t mean it lacked ambition.
The movie would have been an expensive flop. It would have been more expensive than the resultant 1984 Dune by David Lynch which was an… expensive flop.
I'm surprised that Jodorowsky's Dune would cost that little compared to Marvel's budgets, but I don't see Dune having more fans than Marvel but I'm not part of the Dune crowd and don't know how big or how easy it would be to gain new followers. Can any fans tell me if Dune would be accepted by all different countries & cultures out there to break the 1Bil. mark?
A Shaman of Filmmaking with great insight and ambition. If you don't think he's part of the "one eye club" then you're either stupid or blind. I wish somebody would just come out and tell all about it.
He could have made his bizarre film and said is was "inspired by/based on Frank Herbert's Dune" it's a completely different story.Dune was the selling point nothing more, make your art piece but call it something else.
I wish someone could take Jodorowsky's ideas and turn it into a movie Same aesthetic, but with a different story Like what Zack Snyder did with REBEL MOON, but better
The documentary is a fascinating ride into a vision that shall never come to be. Had it been made, I would’ve enjoyed the hell out of it. At least Denis Villeneuve has delivered us 2 magnificent outings & I pray he’ll be do one more film to complete the saga he was entrusted with; if he doesn’t then let it be
I saw the documentary on his DUNE on Netflix or whatever and thought it was So Fucking Stupid that I had to rush out to get the Blu-Ray to see extras and commentaries just to make sure I actually saw what I saw and understood it properly. I LOVE his comics, but he's one of the shittiest film makers ever, Screw whomever he's influenced.
Jodoroski’s movie would have been a disaster, but the designs influenced tons of movies, good and bad, for decades. Or people just copied shit from the movie’s design bible. Influence is influence.
This sounds like it was written by AI. Please stop. I made it to 4:49 and if i hear the word "ambitious" again i might vomit. Please hire a real writer... we often work for almost nothing.

I pray there will one day be an anime series based on Jodorowsky's Dune. It would be the perfect medium for it.
Jodorowsky is not an anime guy tho
@@mafeuk I don't mean made by Jodorowsky, I mean an anime studio making an adaptation of Dune using his vision as their template.
The documentary about this unmade film is fantastic. And Holy Mountain is a Masterpiece.
This is such a good doc about the “what if” this movie had been made.

Go read the Incal series and later meta barons. You love them I'm sure.

"....Rockstar Mick Jagger as Fied Howtha".....I must have missed that character in my readings of the book.

Imagine Richard Stanley's take on Dune

09:37 Jodorowsky's Dune was released in 2013 not 2023.
Its bones were picked clean by the makers of movies like Alien and games like Homeworld.
7:32 WTF?
It beget a ton of creative works that are staples of pop culture.
Ahead of the rest

Why would you want a big-name property if you're gonna take it off the rails? Exactly, & that's more than a bit fraudulent. tavi.
lol he did not understand dune at all

. . .Okey-dokey
It's just one man's opinion, nothing personal. If you're a fan, power to you. No hard feelings.

8:17 Uh, your definition of “innovative ideas” is….interesting.
You should have showed more clips from Lynch's Dune & Dune TV -series and not just these newest movies

After I found out what he was going to do with it, I'm honestly glad he didn't. It would have been nothing like the book.
I, for one, am not upset it didn't get made. Jodorowsky's cast for Dune looks to me like a total miscast, almost as bad as that in GoT
It would help if you pronounced Jodorowski and Gieger’s names correctly.
The movie would have been an expensive flop. It would have been more expensive than the resultant 1984 Dune by David Lynch which was an… expensive flop.
