John, thank you for all of your video's, they have help me immensely. I now have the Ecolink motion sensor in my garage and the lights work perfectly (fortunately I use the Smartthings hub). I did find out though that you can mount the Ecolink bracket right side up (according to the instructions) or up side down, and the sensor will slip into it either way. As it turns out, if the bracket is right side up, when you insert the sensor, there is a little catch (on the bracket) that inserts itself into the body of the sensor that prevents the sensor from being removed from the bracket. The only way to get the sensor out is to take the front off and remove the battery so that you can release the catch. So... if you've mounted the bracket flush against the wall, in a year or so when you need to replace the battery, there will probably be some swearing when you try to get the front of the sensor off, since the release is now up against the wall.

    Hi John,
I just finished a successful connection, Ecolink motion sensor to the wink hub. Thanks for the video review, it was both helpful and inspiring. I'm just starting with home automation with a handful of bulbs, switches and sensors, and the echo dot. I currently using the wink app and the Yonomi app for routines and robots. I'm not sure yet what benefits one has over the other. Maybe you could come with a video showing the benefits one app has over another.

Hey John, I wouldn't mind seeing you do that with the SmartThings hub.

Hi, to make the garage light come on did you also have to change the light switch?

EcoLink seems more efficient than the GoControl.... The GoControl - I had a GoControl and it is not that quick to respond. Does anyone know if there is a bypass for Wink Robots where if I am already in "Theater Mode" the motion sensor wont turn on the lights full blast or better at all? Great videos!

When you connect to lights are these smart lights or smart switches that auto connects to the lights? This is what I want to do.... IF Motion Sensor detects motion to send to Lutron Caseta switch to turn on those lights. Is this essentially what you're doing or are they smart lightbulbs like philip hue?

Could you use these too control lights at the top and bottom of the stairs?

Hi Smart Home Guy, I watched both of your reviews, the GoControl and the Ecolink, in your opinion which motion sensor has the faster trigger response time? Can I set up a robot in which the light will go off after a short period of time?

What is the best product if I just want to put a motion detector in my detached garage that will alert me on my iPhone? Looking for cheap, but at the same time something that works of course. The garage will have wifi in it.

I do not. So I'm going to need something that's smart all on it's own.

    Hi John
I just subbed to your channel...I want to pair these with the Wink2 hub can these send an sms alert to your phone from the hub when it detects motion.
    Thanks

It pairs but apparently as a door open/closed sensor.

have you had any issues with robots not turning off lights? half of the time it doesn't turn off the lights

    • @travisbroyles13
      @travisbroyles13 7 лет назад

Yeah it must be. It fires perfectly in our bathroom to turn on the lights - however it seems to only turn off when you're in there after the set amount of time for it to not detect motion (in the shower, on the toilet sort of thing). Whenever you walk out, you'll walk by the bathroom 20 minutes later and the lights are still on. It is the strangest thing. Then sometimes it will work - but will only turn off one or two out of the three lights. Something funky is definitely going on. I am using the version 1 wink hub - maybe upgrading to the 2 would suit me better.

You set it for the number of minutes after the last ON event.

Hi! I'm looking for a waterproof wireless outdoor z-wave sensor that is pet/rain/butterflies-immune... Yay!! :)

I added my Ecolink sensor to my Wink 2 Hub using the steps outlined in this video. It appears to pair correctly but nothing shows up under the sensors tab on the app. I also don't get any motion options under the robots tab so I can't use the sensor to trigger lights and such. Not sure what the issue could be. Any advice?

Unfortunately, I have tried removing and readding the sensor numerous times with no success. The odd thing is I am having the issue with two different hubs (Wink & Wink 2) and two different motion sensors. Seems odd that I am having such trouble with these. I was thinking about calling Wink but like you said, I am afraid they will claim it's not supported despite so many having success with them.

I just happened to be looking at the sensor and I just noticed it was the newer Zwave Plus model (PIRZWAVE2.5-ECO). I wonder if that is what my issue is. Perhaps this version is not compatible with the Wink hubs yet and only the PIRZWAVE2-ECO is.

I have the wink 2 and the PIRZWAVE2-ECO. I paired it successfully but it would never be listed as a device when trying to add it with a robot. I was on the phone with Wink customer support and he said, it is really not a supported device so it may or may not work. The customer support agent (who was really nice), attempted to get it to work by using the exclusion feature and then re-pair by the inclusion feature but still would not list as a device to be used with the robot feature. He recommended the GoControl Z-WAVE PIR Motion Detector WAPIRZ-1 as that was supported. I don't know how John was able to get it to work and could have just been luck.

Paul Julie, did you double check the actual model number listed on the back of the device. I had ordered the 2-ECO and actually received the 2.5-ECO

I checked the back of the box and here is the model number. PIRZWAVE2-ECO. I do see the 2.5-ECO listed. What is the difference?

Thanks, John.. I'm an old dog learning new tricks. Luckily, I'm not a complete tech moron.. your vids have helped me immensely..But, you've been instrumental in breaking my Christmas budget.. just kidding..without your videos I'd probably have purchased all the stuff twice..Thanks again.
