      I don't own that DLC yet. I decided to pick it up when it goes on sale. Something like 40-50% off. I'm not i a rush to play it even though I very much enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 story. The extra Vram is nice.. But, With the reduced performance of the 4060 series it's doesn't feel enough. "In a perfect world", If I was working at Nvidia... I would have given the 4060ti the 4070 performance tier class and called it a 4060ti 16 gig. I'm surprised and upset with Nvidia unbalancing the video card line up so severely. Thanks iVadim for the interesting comparison. Cheers!

      Nvidia ruined their product line since the release of the first wave of RTX cards.
      Remember, 2060 was a decent upgrade over 1060 (+30%), but had only 6Gb, while 2070 was just 15-20% faster than 2060. And 2080 was just 10-15% faster than 2070. Super cards fixed this, but it was too late. The only card, that can be called a great product was 2080 Ti, but it was very expensive.
      3000 were segmented a bit better, as both 3070 and 3080 were quite a bit faster than their predecessors, but they revieved just 8GB and 10GB of VRAM correspondingly. 3060 had 12GB, but was pretty weak card (just 15-20% faster than 2060). The only decent card in 2020-2021 was 3060 Ti - 2080 Super performance for $400. It also had 8GB, but for that price it was OK at that time.
      We will never see great products from Nvidia at affordable prices anymore, I am afraid. Nvidia charges a hefty premium for a better quality upscaler and higher RT performance. That is their steategy since 2018 and it only getting worse - prices are getting higher and VRAM buffers do not change at all aside from severly overpriced top tier products.

    The important thing about the latest Nixxes PC ports of PS games (including Ratchet & Clank and Horizon FW):
    1) they are very hungry in terms of VRAM, unlike many other games;
    2) DLSS upscaling in these games does not reduce VRAM usage at all (although it should, since with DLSS actual rendering resolution is much lower).
    So the only way to reduce VRAM usage in Nixxes ports is to reduce resolution or texture quality. I do not think the devs will ever fix this issue, as, I belive, they do not see this as an issue.
    It looks like their games do not manage VRAM as good as other titles (based on UE5, for example). They keep a big chunk of data in a VRAM buffer somehow and do not replace it with new data. They just add more and more data to a VRAM pool. Even 16GB cards might eventually run out of VRAM, if you play long enough (like 3-4-5 hours).
    You can play most of modern games with 12GB at 4K w/o any issues, especially if you use DLSS, which usually reduces VRAM usage by quite a bit.
    For example, Banishers GoNE looks better than GoT, but uses much less VRAM. At native 4K with enabled FG it never exceeds 10GB. Texture quality in this game is much higher than in GoT, yet it is much more efficient in terms of VRAM usage.
    P. S. The great rhing about GoT is the difference between Ultra and High texture quality is barely visible. So you can just reduce them to High and play at 4K with FG.
    Also FSR FG uses less VRAM than DLSS FG, so if you use FSR FG, 12GB should not be a problem, even at 4K.

  • @Natuurverhaal
    @Natuurverhaal 10 дней назад +1

    I think it all comes down to price. I hear that sometimes prices are similar. In that case the 4070 is better. For me the price difference was almost €150. Partly because I only want a GPU with premium cooling after suffering from cards with terrible thermals. So I went with RTX 4060 Ti 16gb. Which has been a smooth performer with great thermals so far. Also thank you for doing all these more real world tests. It is easy to point at benchmarks but benchmarks don't tell the whole story. Because all of these midrange cards need things like DLSS and Frame Gen.

      I don’t think that any GPU below RTX 4080 will get any huge price reductions any time soon. You could be waiting until early next year. If you want to play and have fun now then it’s a pretty good time to build a PC. Ryzen 7000 CPUs are cheap, DDR memory and SSDs are also cheap. Motherboard prices aren’t bad either. I don’t see any reason to wait many months just to get a next-gen GPU that is 15-30% better for the same price.

    Hi. A bit off topic, but I'm afraid you won't reply to me if I wrote it under an old movie. I have already ordered an RTX 4070 super and an i5 14400f. I mainly play Fortnite and is the processor really that important for competitive games? I mean, will there really be that much of a difference between the i5 14400f and i5 13600kf? The difference in the price of these processors is small, and when I look at the Fortnite benchmarks, the difference in FPS is really big.

      Hi! I think you answered your own question at the end there🙂 I’ve stopped benchmarking competitive games since that doesn’t interest me. But I imagine there will be significant enough performance difference to justify spending a bit more on the 13600K.

    4070 has good performance but 12GB VRAM is a concern for the future. 4060 Ti 16GB has 16GB VRAM which is ideal, but has a bit weak performance. It should have been switched around, so the RTX 4070 had 16GB VRAM and the 4060 Ti had 12GB VRAM. RX 7800 XT is cheaper than RTX 4070 and not much more expensive VS RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, has 16GB of VRAM and even more raw performance VS RTX 4070. However, the argument for many is that DLSS is better VS FSR. FSR 3.1 looks quite good but maybe not on pair with DLSS? Thus far I am very happy with my RX 7800 XT, but not super happy with my RTX 4060. If I buy another mid to high end graphics card I definetely want 16GB VRAM and enough performance to back that VRAM up.

    • @theivadim
      @theivadim  11 дней назад

      I'm happy to see that FSR 3.1 is finally here. But now AMD has to do something to get it in more games. 5 titles just isn't enough when so many games already have DLSS 3 today. Ready to be enjoyed. And pretty much every upcoming game also has DLSS. I hope that'll also be the case for FSR 3.1.
