You Shred hard!! I am only a fewe years in on guitar but i bought this amp about a year ago and paired it with a EVH 2x12. I love it. perfect for practicing metal riffs. Although i did have to exchange it for one that made less noise. The first one i had was crackly and poppy at all times. This one is only kinda noisy when usig the fx loop.
Thanks man! I appreciat eit. Awesome that you have one! Its such a great amp right?! I have heard about the noise issues. Thankfully i haven't had that. My one did need replacing through as something happened to the output section and I wasn't getting any volume. But as it was under warranty it was an easy switch over. Even though I have lots of amps, I still love playing this one! Anyways, enjoy and have an awesome day!
Thanks man! Very kind of you! Glad you’re enjoying the tunes! You should check out my album ‘Circle of Fire’ if you like these compositions. I think you’d LOVE that album! Have an awesome day!
Love mine. I'm letting my nephew borrow it at the moment because he's just starting to learn electric guitar and I wanted him to have something that sounded metal without needing a boost. I've considered getting a second one because I do miss it.
Awesome Gabe! They are great amps aren't they? If I ever get another I'll get the one with 5881 tubes in the power section. Slightly different tone from those tubes. Have an awesome day!
If I remember correctly. These have been built with a few different tubes from the factory, depending on the manufacturing date. The boards in mine are all stamped 2018, and it has JJ brand tubes. I've heard there was numerous revisions to them, in an effort to keep the noise floor down. Especially in the fx loop. I'd like to do some mods to mine. Like a 50watt output transformer, and linear taper master volume pot. That would really unleash the full potential of this bad boy.
Yes correct. My one came with JJs in the preamp, a Psvane in the phaser inverter position and TAD 6L6GCM-STR in the power section. Sounds totally sublime with those tubes! My amp developed a problem and was replaced with an amp with 5881 tubes in the power section. It didn’t have the same vibe. Kinda lost its teeth. So I ordered a pair of the TAD tubes, put them in, biased and hey presto, the MAGIC is back! Love this amp! Have an awesome day!
From what Tremonti said. They told him about the tube shortage. And that they'd have to use those ones you had going on. He was bummed, and so they called him in to have a listen. Said he couldn't tell much difference? So there's gotta be multiple revisions of it as parts become available. The one I have is great. I did buy an MXR Smartgate to use on the lead channel. I'm getting what I want out of it now. But having more headroom, with more precise control over it. Would be even better! Peace!
@@jayguitarhey man, I am good thank you. How are you doing? Got to love the gain. I seem to be on a real amp hunt lately - it's a blessing and a curse isn't it 😂
I'm doing great man! Busy like crazy but its all good as music is always inspiring to work on 😊 Ha! Yes, the eternal hunt for tone and gain! I know the feeling brother!
Hey dude, I imagine they must have because my amp is pretty quiet when running full tilt. There is of course a little hiss when turned up full, but in the scheme of high gain amps I have experienced, it is actually less then I would expect at this high gain level. Hope that helps. Have an awesome day!
Was currently looking to buy one of these new, do they no longer come with 6l6 power tubes???? would it be smart to study away from used don’t some problems I’ve read and the noise issues? New would be the neeet revision, right? Is there a stamping on sticker they shows the date it was made?
That’s a really great Q man! and you’re right to question it also! This amp developed a problem some months ago so was replaced under warranty and the new one had the 5881 power tubes in it…. which didn’t sound the same 🙁 there was just something missing in tone and drive and punch. So I bought myself another set of the Tube Amp Doctor tubes that were in the original amp (thankfully I had video of those tubes), installed, re-biased and the amp was transformed back to its former glory. So all good again! The new ones costs just a little more then the used ones these days I find. in fact that’s why I bought this one - I was looking at used ones which were floating around the £400 mark and then did a google search to discover Peach Guitars in the uk were selling them for £450! That was a no brainer for me, I bought it straight away 😊 hope that helps! Have an awesome day!
I own this also, is ace, I gigged it with the stock tubes could only use a quarter of the gain though lol, I'm not sure anything is as good in the price range.
Very cool! I hear you about the gain level. Funny thing - I finished up the first solo that I did and then went over to the amp and the gain was at 1/3rd! I usually have it floating around 2/3rds up. Great little amp for sure. Have an awesome day!
@jayguitar Was thinking this one or the evh 3 50 watt 6l6.. I do like all the xtras on that amp and it's not a cash issue but a little less power in my apartment situation might be the right choice 4 me..
Thats another amp on my bucket list! I love the 5150iii 😊 awesome awesome amp! I love both amps - I really like the MT15 because it is so compact and plenty of gain even at low volume.
i REALLY wanna get this amp but im just worried i wont be able to play it in the house cause everyone carries on about how loud it is, some advice please? Could i maybe muffle the loudness with a blanket?😂😂😂😂😂
Hey dude! that’s a really really good point! it is ridiculously loud when it is turned up! But I think one of this amps super-powers is that the master volume works really well and you can get all of the fire and brimstone going at low volumes. Of course, it sounds even more glorious when it is shaking the windows but I have played it with my friends at jam sessions at low volumes without any issue. Hope that helps. Have an awesome day!
@@jayguitar 😂😂😂😂I bought it 4 days ago, fuk it, it sounds amazing, i also bought a celestion v type (not a fan of the V30 sound) gonna build my cab next week Tuesday, very excited, looking at ideas for my grill cloth but so far iron maiden wins
Totally hear you man! Its crazy loud this amp! Thankfully the master vol works well to retain the gain but bring the overall volume down (somewhat). Have an awesome day!
My MT-15 sounds atrocious. The gain is flubby and spongy. I can see why you changed tubes... There's no harmonics and no musicality to this amp. I have other 6L6 and 6V6 amps that sound like angels singing. I've tried attenuators and even Department 10 tube pedals on the clean and dirty channel to try to change the tone and this amp is just a turd. It's worse than DOA, it's noise pollution. Marshall Mesa Boogie EVH Soldano Etc, are all wonderful amps, but this is truly the ugly duckling that hadn't turned into a swan. Any suggestions before I throw it away...?
That’s really interesting to hear that your MT15 sounds like that and I’m also sorry to hear that you’re experiencing that! My one is right, responsive, tonnes of tone and gain, I love playing it. My instinct is to say take it to an amp tech to get checked out as from what you’ve described it doesn’t sound like it’s working the way it should. There are a couple of things you can check though - first is to check that it is Biased properly. There are test point at the back to hook up a multimeter to the points and check the bias of the output tubes. Set the multimeter to millivolts (mV). Factory spec is between 25 and 30mV. I set mine to 30mV if I remember correctly. If you have a spare set of output tubes, or if you can borrow them from another amp, you could change them out and see if that helps. Sometimes they go bad and that can cause issues, You could check the preamp tubes as well. a faulty tube might be causing the tonal issues. Question also, what kind of cab and speaker are you plugging into? Just curious. If none of that helps they you could have it checked out by a tech. Don’t throw it away though - amps are fixable and it would be a shame for a fantastic amp like that to be trashed 😊🙏🏽 Hope that helps. Have an awesome day!
@@jayguitar Thank you for the insights! I also love your videos and exceptional playing! Anyway, I exchanged it because the Fx loop was bad on my first one. The second one didn't sound any better. I checked the biasing on both which was easy to do. I think yours has decent tone due to over $1,000 in vintage tube replacements (and perhaps your own biasing and other mods/effects, etc?) The stock MT-15 amp in my opinion was built for very little more than to please chugging metal heads. There doesn't seem to be any real adjustments, levels, or harmonics in distortion. It's either total distortion or none. I think it should actually be sold with a disclaimer on the audience it's designed for. Your stock Marshall Origin (which sells for roughly half as much un-modded) sounds infinitely better in my opinion. To me, it's truly just a Frankenstein amp devoid of any redeeming quality at all unless you have a couple grand and the time, and expertise to try to fix it's short comings which are plentiful.
@@RoyAttorney Oh trust me, my tubes didn't cost too much 😊 🙏 I am a good bargain hunter 😃I hear you though, it is a pedal to the metal amp for sure!
