We're looking at options on the island, moving from Ontario. The mild weather is key for us, but we also need a good airport hub, the ferry to vancouver may be useful and hospital access is key. Outdoor activities aren't of much interest due to mobility issues, but exploring the island and the west coast of the mainland will be key. I guess Nanaimo is probably a better option than Comox for us. We're pondering ideas at the moment, nothing concrete.
I guess I have the best of both worlds as I live in Qualicum Beach. (Smack dab half way between Nanaimo & Comox/Courtenay.). I love both Nanaimo and the Comox Valley for different reasons and frequent both.
@@sirwm3107 for the amount of times I go to the US (never) I’m only a short drive and prefer being closer to the North Shore in BC! But to each their own… I think Victoria is a great city!
Hey Rita, I came across this video and the other video of the new ferry from Nanaimo to Vancouver. I used to live on the Island, and I will return in May 2024. I have great friends on the island that I will visit. Can you do a video on the difference between Nanaimo and Campbell River?
Comox is sunnier than Nanaimo but behind Victoria, but Cumberland would be rainier than Nanaimo - depends where you live in the CV as to what climate and what you can grow.
@@Ritaisrelocating You are right. She went to school in Comox. Anderson was born in Ladysmith, attended high school in Comox and in 1989 was flown to Los Angeles for a Playboy Magazine photoshoot. She subsequently moved there to pursue a career in modelling before returning to Ladysmith in 2019.
Nanaimo has much more to offer than Courtenay. Nanaimo has a regional population of over 200 thousand a full university two major ferry terminals sea plane access to Vancouver in 15 mins. Nanaimo has a better hospital and as of 2027 will have a full cancer clinic. Nanaimo’s harbour is second to none with Newcastle park Protection island Gabriola island. Lastly Nanaimo has the best location due to it being more central to everything. In my opinion Nanaimo wins hands down.
Remarkable video. Very interesting and informative. Thank you, Rita!

Qualicum is beautiful! Lucky you
I know this is about North Island… but you cannot beat VICTORIA! This South Island brings easy access to U.S. and Mainland B.C.

Great idea! I'll be sure to cover this topic in an upcoming video :)
@@Ritaisrelocating Also, another good video would be Nanaimo and how it compares to the sunshine coast. Thanks again!
Video coming out tonight on Campbell River :)
@@Ritaisrelocating I'll be anxiously waiting.
@@Ritaisrelocating What time is the video coming out?
Comox actually has an international airport!!
I stand corrected! There’s customs at the Comox airport 😃
Nice video like always👍
thank you!

And yes very rainy / grey climate for much of the year (fall/winter especially). Good for those who can travel south.
All about comox baby
Fun fact: Pamela Anderson is from Comox BC.
She’s actually from Ladymith! I think Kim Cattrall is from Courtenay?

I don't disagree :)
Hey lets be realistic...rain...rain..more rain...let your viewers from other province's...understand our climate
You are absolutely beautiful
Both have thriving homeless populations downtown.
