I just got a 2-piece XT9 to replace Verizon's equipment (Arcadyan OEM), which had suddenly become COMPLETELY unreliable. So far, I'm LOVING the XT9. I live in an old house that's proven challenging for Wi-Fi, but the XT9 seems to have slain the dragon, especially with a pair of MoCA adapters to enable Ethernet backhaul and free up the second 5GHz channel. The XT9's Web UI is vastly superior to Verizon's, and their mobile app is fairly nice too. Crossing my fingers for long-term reliability.
@@humanSpirit84 Yes, very reliable, with only a couple of minor glitches during the 8 months that I've been using it. For a while I had problems with my MoCA network and had to switch to Wi-Fi backhaul, but that had to do with my substandard coax wiring. Reliability with Wi-Fi backhaul was excellent. Then, when I "cut the cord" a few months ago, my MoCA network became completely reliable as well, so now I'm back on Ethernet backhaul, and I couldn't be happier. In fact, I just picked up a second 2-piece XT9 for my new place 😁
In your testing I need a recommendation please because you have tested both systems I’m looking at. Do you recommend the xt9 system or the gt6 system. I need the best mix of range of the two nodes (wireless backhaul only) and signal strength of wifi on my property .Please and thank you. Great work keep it up
I like a detailed video explaining all the settings with suggestions in the Asus router web app thing as I'd have no idea what to change or leave alone.
Great video. Quick question: In your opinion, would there be value in connecting the two devices via ethernet instead of wifi? Essentially backhauling the 2nd device via the WAN port instead of via wifi. That may not be possible, but I was thinking it would provide consistent service.
HI so I need some help, I just got the ASUS xt8 and am trying to set it up, I got both blue lights to become solid but when I try to do the setup in the app it checks my internet and simply says the wan isn’t detected and I can’t proceed forward, I’ve switch cables restarted my modem and really am not sure what to do. I’ve also tested my modem with my old router and the internet works fine. What can I do?
Hi Tech Man Pat, Thanks for the review. Would you recommend for a 150m2 house with a first and second floor two XT9's or two XT12's? I would put on on the ground floor and one on the second floor then.
Hi Pat, what is the best Archer.Modem for 2023 in a 3 Bedroom House single Story, when the house is now on Fiber to the house now ? Thanks Melbourne. Derek.
Hi I’ve just upgraded to 1gb WiFi. Through the virgin router I get closer to 800mb but through my ASUS XT8 I only get around 300mb. I have 4 set up around the home. Is there any settings I can change on the asus nodes? Cheers
What´s the point of watching these videos if you don´t answer to the questions? But if we praise your contribution to the comunity then you spend the time to say thank you.As long as we click the links it´s all good is that it?..
I haven't found an answer for myself, maybe someone can tell me. I have ZenWIFI xt8, I want to connect it throughout the house as one network. But, from the provider I have a modem with WIFI, to which I connect ZenWIFI xt8, then ZenWIFI xt8 create their own network around the house. And it turns out that from the provider I have 1 WIFI with my own network, and from xt8 I have my own Mesh system. What's wrong and how can I do it as one with my provider. I need ZenWIFI xt8 switching technology-the device itself chooses which communication channel better
The XT9 is worst wifi router I have used and the wireless backhaul is horrendous. I have 6 nodes and have tried every possible configuration, ASUS optimization, manual config with 2/5/6 preferences, and still get terrible performance and drop out. My 3 year old Orbies outperform it by a mile. Returning all 6 units.
lol none of these test help. doing speed test. I wanna know what its like when you have 5 ps4. smart tvs, tablets, and pc going on it at same time. see if it starts losing packets. Like we have a night hawk 450 and it does fine but up stairs my kids ping will go from 30 to 100 while im at like 0. Thats the kinda stuff we wanna know if it fixes.
@@nikg3392 lol that isnt even what i asked tho. I know its good for two story homes that is its whole gig. I wanted to know how it holds up under a full load of gamers gaming at the same time. is the ping stable for everyone or does it go up and down like crazy.
Wow, these are actually aesthetically pleasing routers, very nice. Great video Tech Man Pat.
Thank you sir!

Has it been reliable for you so far? I am considering picking these up, but am concerned about the reliability.

Probably the cheaper option, it wont really matter for such a small house.

bro review the wifi 6e for us , get the wifi 6e asus quadband and review it for us
Working on it! Will ask Asus for more :)
could they be used on the server system as built previous? to hook up directly and be used to cast at all?
Yep spot on, it would be a great solution to get that server away in a cub-board where there might not be a ethernet port

He does say at 10:43 that it's perfect for two storey homes
