I love Cedar Rapids. I'm originally from Des Moines but moved here after college and have been living in the city for 17 years. Regarding the casino, I voted in favor of it the first time but against it the second time and will continue to vote against it. It's not that I don't think a casino would be beneficial for our community in terms of jobs and entertainment. The issue is that we don't have control over this decision; the state does. Remember, we voted over 60 percent in favor of having one, and it still got rejected. Even though the mayor talked about leveraging her friendship with the Governor, it didn't make a difference; the proposal was still rejected. I believe it's time to move on to another idea.

What kind of recreation are you looking for? There's tons of live music, sports, bike trails, parks, farmers market, beautiful parks. Not to mention plenty of bars and breweries.

I wouldn’t vote for a casino. I much rather welcome anything that will increase sports/ entertainment… my opinion of course.
