One of the things not mentioned in this video related to crime rates is that many large high crime cities in the US have reduced prosecuting crimes. Their police and county prosecutors have caught the woke mind virus and plea out crimes.

I've lived in Des Moines all of my 65 years, and the major problem with Des Moines, is because the City Council, and Board of Supervisors are both controlled by Democrats, and Des Moines is one of the only cities in Iowa that consistently votes Blue. But, Iowa's rural areas are beautiful and extremely friendly.

I worked in north west Iowa during the eighties. I enjoyed my time there and have many lifelong friends there. My recent trip back for a friends funeral the landscape had changed for the worse. Many wind turbine dot the once beautiful farmground. I didn't talk about the turbines but can tell its a sore subject. Landowners like the income but they really are an eyesore!

One thing that you're forgetting is Iowa, law. Enforcement makes arrest and Iowa. Courts and judges prosecute criminals, unlike some other states and cities such as chicago, california. Their law enforcement is on a leash and told they can only enforce certain things and the court system. Let's em go thanks to the democrats

Well, Iowa has a Trumpster loving governor who has for one thing, siphoned off education funds to give funds for private schools. Has worshiped The Orange Dumpster from the time he waddled onto the scene. The state has suffered the loss of well paying jobs in the last few years. She has encouraged companies like Tyson. The child labor laws are terrible.

I love Waterloo, I move here in 2011 and could not be happier. This is one of the best towns, or city I have ever lived in. I am from Houston and small cities around Houston, and also have lived all over the world. This place is wonderful and offers a lot. The only issue is the cold weather. Not giving the video a like, I think the research needs to be reviewed. You can make statics out of anything.

I am a native of Keokuk. I moved to a small town about 3 years ago for many reasons. I would say the information you shared isn't far from the truth. It was a booming place in earlier times, but it isn't now. Quite a few people will argue that with me but i see it the same as the stats see it anymore. The price of utilities are high, housing is getting worse every year. There are more homes torn down than being built. There hasn't been but maybe a handful of homes built in the last decade. I was going to build, but the property tax estimations were just not doable for me. I bought the same quality of home with the same amount of ground i had purchased in Keokuk for over 150,000 less and the taxes are half what they would have been in Keokuk. The population is dwindling and those that are left are forced to try and make up the difference in revenue to the city. I personally don't think its sustainable. People get mad at me for talking about Keokuk like this but I just can't see how it can sustain itself in the next 2 or 3 decades. Its sad to see the place i grew up go down hill like this, but I also deal with realities. I can only hope for the best for all the citizens of Keokuk.

Council Tucky is right up there with Dirty Dodge and Clinton. My Rankings: Clinton Council Tucky Dirty Dodge Sewer Ctiy Quad Cities Marshaltown in working on making the list, been gong down hill for a long time, Webster City has taken it hard since Fridgidair/Electrolux closed down, and the bottom 2 tiers of counties in southern Iowa have had it bad since coal mining went out in the 1950's and the 80's farm crisis just gut shot the area. Many cities in Iowa had railroad and meat packing industries that down sized or closed in the 1980's and it has really hit the state hard.

Hello, should put the politics of what's running the cities and the county seats, I live here and have seen if its blue more than likely its poor and the fed owns them from grant money and we know how well that works and another thing to add would be how many illegal's are in Iowa I looked at the states records and at best it was high and they really couldn't give a correct answer because of all the ones that got flew in with that open border thing and yes we have them seen them being moved here on buses Centerville is trying to get the corrupt city council replaced to which they have as of the last election, the utilities here are unreal compared to wages electricity going up 18% for repairs nat gas the same, nothing we can do about the weather its brutal but that's the mid-west but the roads are not so good the state try's to keep up but by the time they get to them it cost more to fix , but I guess could be worse , but liked your input of the state

A couple things also. Many of the more poverty-stricken areas reside along the most southern couple countries and along the Mississippi. Overall, I'm not sure about the data. What type of crime rates are we talking about? Violent crime? What year were the stats taken. But yes, poverty is a huge issue in many area's, especially to the south and east where higher paying jobs are limited. As for education, Iowa used to rank towards the top. When I was growing up, we had some of the best schools in the nation. We can easily achieve that again, all we need is our Govenor and Congress to get off their lazy butts and fund our schools again. The only thing I'd refrain from using is that phrase "Pockets of", that works in a larger city like DesMoines and Waterloo, but in these other really small towns, there are no pockets, its just the entire town. Overall a decent video. I live up in the far northern part of the state, and we have issues up here, mainly the extreme cold. But I think education is a problem statewide.

I am a Cedar Falls Native and live next door in Waterloo, e.g. rent/home prices historically have been more affordable, and there are a lot of good neighborhoods. Cedar Falls has the University of Northern Iowa and historically is a nice community with good vibes. Like a lot of bigger cities, Waterloo has had its troubles, this is not new, and it too has its good points. Very diverse population culturally, and I appreciate that. I am always aware of my surroundings when I am out and about, and as a local resident, I don't worry too much. Another person posted a comment about upstanding citizens from Chicago being in river/border communities-I had a good laugh because it's true, and does apply to where I live as well. Maquoketa: The Maquoketa caves state park as a tourist attraction is worth a visit. Sadly, the southeastern part of Iowa has historically not been a great area to live for a long time, but it has good things, too. I travel around the state for my job, so I do my research. Depending on what you are looking for, there are a lot of hidden gems and a surprising amount of things to do/places to see/events to attend.

The Bluffs definitely is sucking, it was only 30 years ago that it was all right. The answer....jobs. Last numbers, statistics can be used in many different ways. I could come up with the numbers to make my town the murder capital, we have had 2 in 30 years.

I live in the small town of Princeton Iowa. I love it here. Everyone is friendly and will help you if you need it. I know everyone in my town. Everyone keep there property nice and clean. Not much to do here but we have Bettendorf about 15 miles away , with plenty of stores and we have the sports center . Love it here.

Only thing you really need to watch out for in Centerville Iowa is the crooked law enforcement it's how the city and county makes its money they make up their own laws as they go because they lack the education of the laws on the books and your rights don't apply their in anyway so you have to watch out even just stopping at Walmart passing through the cops lurk and stalk the parking lot for plates that don't belong? How lucky do you feel if you are not a criminal you will be before you leave town

These towns and cities are all dead and dying due to one thing and we all know it. It's happening everywhere and been happening since the like the 1980's. Let us start with Japanese steel and what it did to our steel industry back then and still affects us today. It is really sad to venture back to a place you grew up in that was once thriving and a good place to live. Now dilapidated and ghetto looking all because the jobs left for cheaper labor and better profits overseas.

Cedar Rapids is the city in Iowa that the government buricrates act inconcert with its law enforcement officers to committ the majority of the crimes. Police officers don't blink an eye when forging a false complaint against a man.. future the criminal police officers have no problem with making contradictory statements against an inosennt man. Further the Linn County attorneys office have no problem to creating a false narrative so that the curupt officer may under color of law imprison people for frivolous charges..
