Other Microsoft MVPs and expositors of Excel have achieved greater prominence in recent years, but for my money Mike Girvin is the undisputed King. *No one* teaches more, more clearly, and with more useful context, than ExcelIsFun.

The difference is simple. It does not matter how smart you are for technical writing and videoing: it matters how well you can create a story to make complicated things less complicated. And more specifically, it means do not make assumptions: just arrange the details for the topic without omitting details and make it fun. Still further (not to go off...), but as a human (me) who "graduated" from highline school in Oakland, California, USA, illiterate (barely able to read, write or do math), I can "see" what us dumb people see, and then how to wade though a particular topic to help people like me understand. Out of a very bad thing: illiteracy, came my story telling : )
@@excelisfun I bought your book on array formulas; no one else was explaining that. Of course much of that is now made redundant by spilled arrays, and no one has done more than you to explain spilled arrays.
I've seen some of your social media posts recently that describe you taking some time for family obligations. And now I see here that you used a severe disadvantage to motivate and drive yourself to a very high level of personal mastery in abstract thinking and clear communication.
I think you have a much more compelling and significant story to tell than just data analysis. I hope you'll tell it some day.

P.S. my next book is about Dynamic Spilled Arrays, and my next book, my sixth book, will not be a technical book. I think of it as a historical novel. It will be called: Generation Rad. It will be about the kids that grew up in the 1960s and 1970s and how they reacted to the historical content and invented the two sports: BMX and Skateboarding. : )
This will be another 'Oscar award series'. I particularly love these types of topics focused on Data Analysis, Power Tools and SQL. Thanks, Mike!

Mr. Girvin, this time, started this series of tuts that are different level. I shall call Master Degree of Microsoft power tools. After a break , I'm attracted like a magnet does to a piece of metal, to this absolutely wonderful and masterful, put together by this amazing man/professor/master of excel. This series combine with Mr. Girvin amazing book: "Microsoft 365 Excel: The Only App That Matters", shall teach you EVERYTHING you need to excel in data management with Microsoft tools. It is just I have been trying to get caught up after my mom's passing. This class was supposed to be completed over a month ago, so I have to cram over 100 hours of work into last week... Getting to that solution was really fun, playing around with the new functions and trying to mimic pivot table. Sadly I had to reinstall Windows on my laptop and now I don't have the new functions that's still in the beta channel. Hopefully I will get it back soon.

Most of it. But M 365 has many things that Excel 2021 does not. THE only version to get is 365. Other versions just don't have as many cool tools : )

Which other playlist of yours should I watch next and in what sequence should I watch it?

@@excelisfun I fount the workaround which is to use VPN. I'm not sure if the issue is actually related with my location though. I'm in South Korea and when I access the link via VPN, it worked. Without it, it didn't. Just sharing this in case anybody face the same issue. :)
@@enochakabobby RUclips has been notorious for about 10 years of having trouble with posting comments. All of us that hang out in comments at excel is fun had had our comments deleted. It is shameful of RUclips for not fixing bug.

This is a great series. It is the most complete that I have. It is very dense, with a lot of information packed into one video. Use the rewind button A LOT. Practice all the examples with the files that I provide. If you would like a 4 video intro class first, watch this class before this one:

Also, the difficult topics of M Code and DAX are what gives you power in Power BI. I cover these topics in Excel and Power BI, but they are interchangeable.
Can anyone explain the difference between the E-DAB course and this series? I'm currently going through the E-DAB course, but it seems like they cover a lot of the same topics and are aimed at a similar skill level, with this series being a bit newer.
Yes, they do cover similar topics. E-DAB is a great: 1) entry level class and 2) it uses an older version of Excel and Power BI. This class is: 1) MUCH more in depth and more detail and 2) it uses the latest tools as of April 2024. They are both great classes.

@@excelisfun I've explored your home page some but not those specific playlists. Those look like amazing resources that I'll have to dive into next!! I'm primary interested in business related analytics, and was planning on going through E-DAB -> EDA -> MSPTDA, although the Analytics playlist you linked looks like it also has a ton of relevant videos. Is there any certain order of your different series (or videos in general) you'd recommend for someone who has a fairly good grasp on the basics of excel and is currently in a business-related profession but wants to pivot into more of a data analytics role?
Your teaching style is top notch, and the amount of practical knowledge and skills I've learned from your videos so far is incredible so I'm slowly trying to make my way through any relevant videos, but there's A LOT of content to go through (not the I'm complaining!)
